Comics: recommendations? - Gen. Discussion

So, I decided to start reading comics. Ive been interested for some time now, but I wanted some recommendations because I have no idea what's good and what's bad. I also heard about the new 52 and I wondered which were the best series from it? and has marvel done something similar, because some of their stuff looked a bit harder tro get into.

My contacts with superheroes have been various animatedf series (batman, superman, justice league, spider-man and x-men), movies (batman movies, superman movies and various marvel movies, like iron man or the avengers) and the animated DC movies, which are the ones that piqued my interest the most. I'd also like to now if ther stories this movies are based on are still available
