EMPEROR JOKER!

Its an entire Superman story arc with Joker as the most powerfull being of the universe!! Joker tricks Mxyzptlk into taking his powers!The world is going mad and Joker changed the fabric of reality completely!A great story that shows how brains beat brawns sometimes even when the brains can change the universe to their will!

Lex Luthor: The Unauthorized Biography #1

In the Unauthorized Biography, a journalist investigates the past of Lex Luthor, how he became this cruel and manipulative businessman, and tries to find a publisher for his revealing story. Soon he's under the radar of Luthor himself and ask the only person he can still trust, Clark Kent, for help. Though this story is not considered to be canon (anymore), it is still a great crime noir story.

Superman: A Nation Divided #1

Superman signs up to fight for the Union Army in the Civil War, unsure if he will ever make it out alive. This all changes from the moment on a cannonball hits him and bounces right back. Amusing Elseworlds story about Superman becoming America's greatest soldier of the Civil War.

Superman: Time and Time Again

An explosion accidentally throws Superman through time without control of where he's going, only further explosions will send him into another era. Superman finds himself send to different times in the past and future fighting T-Rex, the Nazis, joining a circus, and teaming up with several incarnations of the Legion of Superheroes. This is a great and funny story (arc) for fans of time travel.

'The New Team of Superman and Robin' (World's Finest #75) - When Batman is injured, Superman steps in to take his place. A story that highlights the friendship between Kal El and Bruce Wayne.

'Loves Labors... "Private Lives"' (Superman Annual #2 '88) - This one isn't about Superman, but two of the supporting characters. When Barrage puts Dan Turpin in the hospital, he begins to reevaluate things, including his relationship with Captain Sawyer.

'I Am Curious (Black)!' (Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane #106) - Another one where the focus is not on Superman. In order to do a story on Metropolis' black community, Lois Lane has Superman use Dahr-Nel's Plastimold Machine in the Fortress of Solitude to transform her into a black woman. One of the things that makes this issue so great is the final page which contains no dialog whatsoever, but delivers the great sense of hope in the brotherhood of mankind that lies at the heart of the Superman series'.

'Where No Superman Has Gone Before' (DC Comics Presents #29) - In trying to stop Mongul's Warworld, Supergirl is catapulted beyond the natural barriers of the universe. Superman tries to rescue her, but The Spectre bars his way! This shows that even at his most powerful, Superman had his limits. No matter how powerful you are, there is always someone else more powerful than you.

'The Day the Earth Died' (Superman #408) - Sooner or later Superman was going to have to deal with the threat of nuclear war. Does he have the power to stop it? Should he?

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - I know what you're thinking. That's a Batman story! Well, true enough, but Superman also appears; and no other story better crystallizes the differences between Batman and Superman's approach to fighting crime.

Superman 141 Superman Returns Too Krypton!- In this classic story Superman finds a way to travel back in time lands on his own planet Krypton. Meeting his own parents and falling in love with the actress Lyla Lerrol. Superman was comfortable with his life there and was willing to die there when the planet would reach its end. Unfortunatly, fate has other plans.

I figured we would be able too as soon as Primm mentioned he had 20 or so stories he wanted to nominate...

Skeeter (Action Comics Annual #1) - It's great fun seeing Superman and Batman team-up, and this comic features a threat worthy of such a team: vampires! Batman is on the trail of a mass murderer who he's tracked to a swamp somewhere in the deep south. When he discovers that he's actually up against a vampire infestation, he knows he's in over his head, so he contacts Clark Kent and asks him to send Superman. The comic shows a Batman and a Superman who are aware of each others existence, and are starting to form a limited form of trust. They are becoming aware of each others strengths and weaknesses. The issue also features very good artwork.

Superman Takes a Wife (Action Comics #484) - The wedding of Clark and Lois! In this 40th Anniversary issue, Colonel Future and his C-F Gang recruit The Wizard to perform the greatest disappearing act he's ever done - making Superman disappear. While that has the intended effect for them - a world they can loot (nearly) unopposed, it has another unintended effect for Clark Kent. Free of his obligations as Superman, he can and does marry the woman he's always loved, Lois Lane. Artist Curt Swan imitates his own early art style in this Golden Age homage. (Not a duplicate of the Wedding Album)

'I Can't Go Home Again' (Superman #270) - The Kent home in Smallville is scheduled to be demolished for an interstate highway. This is a touching story about how good intentions can lead to terrible ideas.

Superman Breaks Loose (Superman #233) - The first time Superman was rebooted. Makes kryptonite rare again; Superman's powers are scaled back; Clark transitions from a newspaper reporter to a TV reporter, etc. At the start of the Bronze Age of Comics, this comic 'resets' Superman as if the Silver Age never happened. 'The Menace from the Stars' (World's Finest #68) - A giant asteroid is on a collision course with Earth. Superman stops it from hitting the Earth, but knocks it into Earth orbit, wreaking havoc with the weather. Worse, the asteroid was partially composed of Kryptonite which causes Superman to plummet to Earth with amnesia. This was the basis for the great 'Panic in the Sky' episode of the Superman TV show.

The Girl in Superman's Past (Superman #129) - Everyone has exes, even Superman. This story tells of the star-crossed love affair between Clark Kent and Lori Lemaris.

'The Battle of the Atoms' (supposed to be published in Superman #38 but EXPURGATED) - This was the infamous Superman story that the U.S. government didn't want you to see! Clark and Lois drive into the countryside looking for the source of a 'terrific upheaval'. They discover massive trees bent over, boulders melted and steel structures twisted. Upon further investigation they come across some of Luthor's thugs. Learning that Superman is close to discovering his plot, Luthor launches an immediate attack on the Daily Planet with a powerful Atomic weapon!

Europe at War (Action Comics #22-23) - In his first appearance, evil genius Luthor starts WWII in order to pave the way for his own world domination!

The Origin of Superman (Superman #53) - The first, and still most definitive version of Superman's origin.

'Detective Sergeant Blake' (Superman #1) - A text only story about a police sergeant who vows to take Superman in. Begins the complex relationship between Superman and the police.

* Aside from that last one which actually appears in a comic book, I have left off text based stories, and stories from other media like TV and movies, as I assume these are disallowed(?).

Although non-canon, the story was a vivid reminder of why we all love the Man of Steel-his courage, honor, and dedication to doing the right thing. And in this story, you'll see those core values be challenged, and how he deals with it, will forever change how we all view the world's most iconic superhero!

I have Kryptonite nevermore in the list! So this would be considered a duplicate!

Another story i would put in the list is Action Comics #761 "For A Thousand Tears"

Superman and Wonder Woman are summoned to fight a war in valhalla.As the time pass Superman starts to forget his life on earth and more importantly his wife! As Superman and Wonder Woman start coming very close,will superman betray his beloved wife(SPOILER ALERT: HE WON'T).One of my favorite single issues of AC!

Superman vs. the Amazing Spiuder-Man

1976 will go down in history as the year when it finally happened - DC Comics and Marvel Comics had joined forces to give us the most mouth-watering features of all time: Superman vs. Spider-Man. In one single issue, readers were treated to the sight of two of the comic world's most popular characters standing side-by-side, battling not only each other, but the joint forces of Doctor Octopus and Lex Luthor. Though this story may comic book (a generously oversized issue) not necessarily be remembered for it's story, it is more significantly remembered for the teaming up of the flagship characters of DC and Marvel.

I can compromise and say Action Comics (1938) #1 ("Superman"), but you have to know that is just a visual thing which would only go for this round and for Final Order Voting. all the titles you see are for voter's benifit. The only thing I really need is the Action Comics #1 so I can link plus the year of publication of the volume it is contained in so I know which issue to add. That's why I put the volume, then the year, then the issue number (and the title). Just explaining what I do. The reasons really speak for them selves. so in the finished product you'll see:


	#Ranking. The Terrible Toyman (Title of the story whatever is listed on the issue's wiki page) Action Comics #865: Well, we all know Toyman is this Joke character that nobody took seriously. The first time he was ever menacing was in STAS and I thought that it was a perfect portrayal. Shortly after that Geoff Johns took some cues from the animated series and made Toyman this A-list character and since I love toyman I thought this was a great time to add it to Superman's greatest stories

so I can add for your benifit the "Superman", but it's not essential to how I add issues or how I present them. Just saying.

Actually, the official title for Action Comics (1938-2011): #1 is "Superman! Champion of the Oppressed, the physical marvel who had sworn to devote his existence to helping those in need!" so...I would imagine "Superman! Champion of the Oppressed..." should be the title we use for that here...

Lets stick to War of the Supermen. It's the official title and even DC called the 2 double features and the hardcover "War of the Supermen".

"The 100 Minute War" is just the subtitle on the cover of issue #1 and then re-appears as a memo, from Lois to Clark/Superman, at the end of issue #4. This memo says as much as "they call it the 100 Minute War", if I remember correctly. Imho, the story arc should be called War of the Supermen, too.
