What is this?

This is a poll to decide what is the best issues and comics of a certain month (in this case: July).

Each vote placing is worth different points (1st place = 3pts, 2nd place = 2pts, 3rd place = 1 pt) and the highest 5 of each catagory will be declared The Best of The Month!

Over half the comics I bought this week have yet to be read, including a few likely candidates.

Now that I think of it, I have a question. I expect a fair amount of people will be able to purchase Batman Inc. #3 despite the official delay because they'd already shipped before the decision was made. Should that comic be fair game for the month of July or should we agree to keep it out of this month's running until everyone has had a chance to get it?

I'm not sure how much it would matter or how many people would be considering the content of this title, but personally, as a rabid fan of both Morrison and Burnham, I know this would likely make my list of nominees if it were eligible.

@Hatutzeraze: well you have a little bit till the 1st, so maybe you can read those comics and then vote...who knows?

I think we'll wait on that particular issue. Since there will be a low reader number, I lean toward having it in the running for next month (besides you might get more voters for that issue once it is released officially).

I've only bought one July-published comic so far, because my budget is super thin now (lost my job, got another couple odd jobs that aren't paying much yet, and still catching up on other issues of comics). So unfortunately I won't be voting on this, because I've got dated information. But, I'll be keeping an eye on it! ^^

So the non-marvel or DC question is for any publisher apart from Marvel, right? So including Image?

@Mucklefluga: yeah, that is any publisher that is not DC or Marvel (from Dynamite to Boom! to Image to IDW to another publisher). In the past, Cosmo (my host predecessor) had a rule against voting for any Vertigo comics in the "Favorite Non-Marvel or DC Comic" category, but as a Vertigo title has never won a "Favorite DC Comic" as far as I can remember I waved that rule so Vertigo can be included in "Non DC comic" category...

good question....we've always had trouble with the female section and most people vote for the usual suspects (batgirl, Batwoman, Mary, Queen of Blood, etc) for heroes and Talia has won two months in a row for the villain category (she can't do three in the row because people just haven't read her appearance yet. I hope some other people vote for this catogry, because you don't want me to pick the winner...

I'm sort of thinking if no one votes for that catorogry the winners I'll choose will be:

1. Magica De Spell
2. Natasha Fatale
3. Talia al Ghul (because she would normally be on the list)

I'll think of the last two later :P

@The Poet: I'll definitely contribute, I just need to finish a few more books. BTW - Do you consider Vertigo non-DC? I've noticed people vote that way in the past, and it just doesn't seem right to me.

The three ladies, I nominated really wrecked ish in their appearances. The faery from Hellblazer completely messed a guy over. Here is sample of Ma's appearance from Revival. Artemis was pretty hardcore in Wonder Woman. If anyone wants to see some villainous ladies, check out those books.

@knighthood: yeah, she was...She was part of an animated tv show back in the 60s called the "Rocky and Bullwinkle Show" (well, Rocky & Friends and then the Bullwinkle Show, and then collectively as "Rocky and Bullwinkle Show", but whatever...). Made by the same guy who originally made George Of The Jungle and designed Captain Crunch. Jay Ward was awesome...The lady who voiced Natasha (June Foray) was the same lady who voiced Granny from selvester and tweety along with a host of others...

that lady with the teeth seems nice...
