I always run into this problem when reviewing books and comics. Mainly, does something that I really enjoyed deserve to have 5/5 stars? If I give it the highest rating, won't it maybe be too much (since it would have the same rating as other classics)?

Oh come on the obvious #1 here,is the Galactus trilogy from F.F 48,49,50 has to rank as number one!!After that the surtur saga impresses me the most by Walt Simonson.who could argue with this?

@k4tzm4n: At other sites, they give out numerical values and then also recommendations of whether to buy, read or ignore the issue. So as you said above, a sub standard comic can still get a "read" score because it hits the right marks in the right genre. Maybe something for CV to consider

1= Why was this book even allowed to be sold.

2= Things are bad about this book though there are one or two saving graces about it.

3= It was good though had its share of problems.

4= Good, but nothing that really blew me away.

5= Amazing!

I usually try to stand in the shoes of a comic reader from the time it was published for books published in the Golden or Silver Age and try to see the conditions everyone working on the books were in. For example with the early Golden Age Batman. Certain things like art and characteristics were still be experimented with. I try to view it like that. Or with the Silver Age something like the Codes and seeing the publishers style. For example, was an old Flash were Barry became fat good or bad when compared to the other wacky era DC books.

Eh, I don't care about numbers, I care about the breakdown and explanation in the review and I know I may or may not agree. I might completely disagree with a comicvine review, but that doesn't mean that it isn't valid, just that my tastes differ.

Anything with Harley in it is an automatic 5 :).

What is going at Marvel the past couple of years? Every story that I have read has been so bad. I am sorry I know there are lot of Marvel fans out there,I am one of them. But every story from X-men vs Avengers, Civil War, Axis, Original Sin,Age of Ultron has been utter garbage. I cant even sit down and go through all of them. The art is crap, but at least give a good story. Marvel Needs new comic talent and bad.

Comicbook reviews are biased. People are entitled to their opinions.

Not that this was really necessary at all considering that there shouldn't be a reason why someone should complain about a review. It's simply their own opinionated thoughts on something and should be taken with a grain of salt. Of course, it's always nice to know what other people think about something they share an intrest with, but I never understood why someone would get worked up over it. If you enjoy something (or hate it), then that's your opinion. What others think shouldn't dicate your decision on whether you should pick it up or not. On top of it all, people shouldn't be looking at the score to see how an issue would rank, but at the written portion itself.
