Like what's up with the DC/Marvel centric on this thread? Didn't anybody here read comics in the mid 80's to mid 90's? All the best stuff was indies. Many companies are no longer with us,but that wasn't because the titles weren't any good.A few like Badger,Nexus,Mister X,and Grimjack still pop up from time to time, but how about Aztec Ace?

Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters? I love me some Clint.

Also Grendel. And, while it wasn't really cancelled, Matt Wagner should get off his butt and do Mage 3.

Gen13 written by either Brandon Choi or Gail Simone

Grendel is one I forgot about and I need more Grendel in trades.Never read Mage but heard good things about it. There was one trade for Mage that had most if not all of the run for a reasonable price and I should pick it up before it goes out of print.Speaking of which I'm not sure of the time frame but the original run of Bryne's Next Men has been collected. Is it worth picking up or not?

The first Mage series, The Hero Discovered, was fantastic. The second one, The Hero Defined, which came along years later, didn't hold up nearly as well.

Never read Next Men.

Going in a completely different direction, I would add Power Girl to the list.

black panther , cloak and dagger, deadpool with a good funny writer.

#30 Posted by CATPANEXE (9366 posts) - 1 year, 2 months ago - Show Bio

I loved Sleepwalker. Get Bob Budiansky writing and you've got a deal. I would add Blevins too (I really think when he left off pencils that contributed highly to the series end, which happened shortly thereafter) but he's out of the comic game at the moment. I'm only pressed on having Bob there as it's his character, and any attempts to revive it already without him didn't go over so it's obvious what the series really needs to have to be relevant. Not unlike trying to do Howard The Duck without Gerber.

You are Shadowhawk! You're glad you decided to wear this armor.

The first Shadowhawk could have really been something. Instead of it turning into an Image universe tour, Shadowhawk should have basically been Batman who breaks backs. I also hated how the story with him and Vendetta's supervillains went nowhere. Such a waste.

Ironically both Grendel (specifically War Child) and Grimjack are at the top of the list of non-Marvel/DC comics I want.

Wow, somehow i'd forgot Taskmaster even had that mini! Damn, i wish it got given a proper chance as an ongoing, Van Lente is like one of Marvel's most underused and ignored talents and he could write a Taskmaster ongoing :(

Gen 13. I'm surprised no one said Static yet, but only with a decent writer and artist, and no nosy editors.

#43 Edited by Strider92 (11873 posts) - 1 year, 2 months ago - Show Bio

@X35: Yeah, both of Taskmaster's mini-series have been great. They need to give him a chance in an ongoing T.T and Lente should definitely write it!

  • American Virgin (2006-2008)
  • The Books of Magick: Life During Wartime (2004-2005)
  • The Dreaming (1996-2001)
  • House of Mystery (2008-2011)
  • Human Target (2003-2005)
  • Madame Xanadu (2008-2010)
  • Sandman Mystery Theatre (1993-1999)
  • Shade, the Changing Man (1990-1996)
  • Swamp Thing (2000-2001)
  • Unknown Soldier (2008-2010)
  • The Vinyl Underground (2007-2008)

Most of the others I can think of weren't things that got cancelled but rather projects that were abandoned, due to the fault of the creator I have to assume
