No superhuman strength behind it, could something like a knife, or a shard of glass cut Spider-Man like it would any normal human?

Yeah. I mean he would avoid it with SS, but if you're just asking can a knife actually cut him, then yeah.

Yes he can be cut the same as any normal human. Problem is his reflexes and spidersense make making contact with such a thing almost impossible. Now when it comes to durability against blunt force trauma he's probably about as durable as The Thing, easily able to survive falls of several stories without injury, or take punches from class 50+ opponents without being hurt due to high muscle density.

What he said.

I've not read anything stating that he has tougher skin than a normal human, so yes.

Taking blunt-force trauma is more his thing, I don't think knives are his speciality.

@batman1130: I know, it would be silly to compare them , but spider-man can and has tanked hulk, thing and other people.

Let's just say his durability is much greater than a normal human, think Captain America's toughness, maybe even a little beyond that..

Comparing him to the Thing's durability is just ridiculous.

Yes. He doesn't have any special durability towards piercing damage.

I agree more than Cap, but now where near Thing levels... You can not hurt Thing with a knife...unless it's like molecular-ly sharp adamantium type knife.

Yeah that's what I thought, I was just wondering and trying to see if anyone could come up with a scan of him resisting being cut by a knife. Thanks guys.

@chuckwolf: as durable as thing? Really?

It was a rough estimate based on the fact that Spider-man has taken hits from guys like Rhino, The Hulk, and yes Ben Grimm himself without any apparent injury. But remember that against blunt trauma, stuff like bullets, knives etc can still hurt him if they make contact, but punches especially to the body wont, in fact there have been cases where people with low levels of super strength have broken their own hands when Spider-man let them hit him on purpose.
