I was curious on the different levels of "busters". I have seen "Planet busters" and "Mountain Busters" and was wondering if I could see a scale? Lowest to Highest. I am sure there is other levels of buster classes. Thanks in advance

How does one bust a galaxy, or a universe?

It's not always "buster". I see "team buster", "planet buster", and "galaxy buster", but the other levels are labeled differently.

@Malonius:What would a team buster be? Like some one soloing a team, or a team busting something?

Team buster is a guy that can beat entire team by himself.

Here's the power level scale I came up with on another thread. I use the terms "Block Buster" and "City Buster" but I don't think they're in general use:

1. Street Level:

a) Peak Human: Characters who can consistently and/or perfectly do things that actual humans have actually done in real life. People who can fight H2H like a UFC Champion; utilize prep/weapons/equipment like a Navy SEAL; run/jump/climb like a parkour champ, an Olympic Gold Medalist and a Cirque de Soleil performer; and use vehicles like an X-Games champion or a Hollywood stunt driver. This is the realm of characters like Hawkeye and Nightwing.

b) Enhanced Peak Human: Characters who can do all of the above plus a bonus power. I'm thinking of Daredevil and Captain America here.

2. Block Buster: The definition here is that they could basically leave a whole city block in ruins, probably knocking down some buildings, on their own without relying on external weapons. It gets tricky here because there's guys like Batman or the Punisher who are essentially always carrying around explosives as standard equipment, but I'd rather put them in Street Level Peak Human with an asterik.

a) Low: I'm thinking more along the lines of Spider-man and Gambit. Most of these guys can't be killed by a regular citizen with a gun.

b) High: More along the lines of like She-Hulk or Ms. Marvel. Cyclops is at this level in terms of what he can dish out, but he's so physically weak relative to that.

3. City Buster: A Block Buster could maybe destroy block after block, but under normal circumstances they'd wear out or it would take so long that they'd be stopped well before it got to that. A City Buster, on the other hand, has the power to destroy a whole major city and could get it done fast enough or have the defensive capabilities to accomplish such destruction most of the time. They would not have the energy projection or speed to be a planetary threat however. I think Iron Man is this level and probably Storm, except she's so physically vulnerable.

4. Planetary Threat: Here's where we start to get to the cross-over level threats.

a) Event Level (aka Team Busters): Magneto, Hulk, Juggernaut....they could all mess up the planet if they went on a rampage and it takes significant planning and teamwork to put them down. The Flash usually goes at this level.

b) Planet Busters: I know we end up with a lot of rhetoric about the term "Planet Busters" since so few characters have actually busted a planet, but...I consider this the level of Thor (normal levels) and Superman.

5. Solar System Level: These are characters that can wreck a solar system and many of them are in fact space based. Here's the level of Silver Surfer and some of the other Heralds of Galactus. Here's the primo Green Lanterns. In fact they might go on indefinitely destroying solar systems until they destroyed a whole galaxy, but would they be fast enough to accomplish it before they were stopped by some kind of massive team-up? I think Superboy Prime fits at this level.

6. Galaxy Level: One has to remember that our galaxy is 100,000 light years across and has billions and billions of stars. There is a huge jump between the Solar System and Galaxy Level. Someone like Galactus or Odin or whoever, if they've been shown to actually affect whole galaxies, should never have problems with anyone at any of the levels below them. Galactus also has an asterik here because he's known to serve an Abstract purpose in the Marvel Universe.

7. Abstract/Cosmic Level: These Beings represent or control some kind of fundamental force or aspect of existence. It is kind of silly that these beings would fight except in a highly metaphorical sense.

a) Universal Level: They have responsibility for or control of some power at the level of a universes creation, maintenance, or destruction. The Infinity Gauntlet raises its wearer to this level in the Marvel Universe. Dream of the Endless is the DC universes manifestation of something Multiversal: dreaming.

b) Multiversal Level: The same as Universal, but for more Universes. Cyttorak is at this level.

c) Omniversal: To be truly omniversal, what ever Being or Power must actually exist in some form in our world. Any character described as "omnipotent" would be just a different perspective on any other character described as "omnipotent". Fighting against or between such characters is totally pointless.

Actually it's really hard to bust atomic and smaller pieces of matter. You ever heard of an atom smasher?

Team buster: Able to take on a team, or multiple teams, of superpowered foes at once, without much trouble (Depending on the foes. Usually, The Avengers and the Justice League are the teams used as default examples to see if someone is a team buster.) Dr. Doom, Thanos, and Black Adam are all team busters, having taken on entire teams of heroes rather regularly, including The Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the Doom Patrol, the Teen Titans, and the Justice League.

Planet Buster: Someone who can destroy a planet. If the planet's size, density, or general construction are omitted, assume that it is similar to Earth. Some planet-busting powers don't care what the planet is made out of or how dense/massive it is, so be mindful of how this term is used. Frieza, from Dragonball Z, could destroy planets with some ease. Superman has been a planet buster in the past, but his current incarnation does not appear to be of this same power level.

Galaxy buster: Someone who can destroy an entire galaxy somehow. Usually this is done with matter and reality manipulation, rather than an explosion of such tremendous size it encompasses a galaxy (since as well, the stars and black holes in the galaxy might not be affected by an explosion such as that, if it were even possible). Use the Milky Way for standard galaxy size, if omitted. Imperiex-Prime was capable of hollowing out a galaxy, essentially voiding it of it's matter and beings. This could be considered a form of galaxy busting. Galactus might also be capable of this.

Universe buster: Essentially the same as a galaxy buster, someone who can manipulate reality or the very cosmos to such a degree that they can vaporize or annihilate or unmake an entire universe. Universes, unless specified otherwise, all have the same size and have the same spatial dimensions, using our real-life universe as an example. I do not know of any universe busters who were not also multiverse busters; it is possible Galactus was capable of this, but I do not know. Eternity likely was not capable of this.

Multiverse buster: Capable of destroying an entire comic book's multiverse, through incredible magical powers or reality manipulation. The Anti-Monitor of DC's storyline, "Crisis on Infinite Earths" was capable of doing this, had he not been thwarted at the last second. He destroyed almost every one of the infinite universes in DC's comics.

Well, a supermassive black hole can bust a galaxy... And with some imagination you can bust a universe as well.
