I see a lot of people being critical over the news that Brian Wood will be taking over from Warren Ellis on Moon Knight and although I am sad that he's leaving I think Wood will do a fantastic job in his own right.

1. Stop Basing Your Opinion Of Brian Wood On His X-Men Runs.

I've seen this get mentioned a lot and although I've not read all of it (so I can't say if it's good or not) X-Men couldn't be farther away from Moon Knight in terms of story and tone, so instead of basing your opinion on that use Wood's grittier indy work like:

The Massive

Channel Zero

The Couriers

The Tourist

DMZ

And even his character work in Conan and Northlanders.

2. He's Not Fixing What Isn't Broken

Wood has said in a few interviews now that he loves what Ellis has done in MK. He has every intention to be faithful to what has been set up so far and see's no reason to change any of it. He says his run might not get as crazy as #4 but he still intends to keep the Weird Neon Noir style of the book.

3. He Plans To Have Unified Arcs

Pretty much the only complaint some people had with Ellis's run is that his issues felt to disconnected from each other and that hampered any character development. Wood plans on keeping the single issue story arcs but also connecting them all together with an overarching story.

4. The Queen Of Colour's Reign Continues

Her Royal Highness Jordie Bellaire will continue to bless the book with her regal pallet.

5. Declan Shalvey Will Stay On Covers

Every cover of Moon Knight so far has been a knockout and that will continue unabated.

6. Smallwood Is A Worthy Successor

Honestly people just give the new creative team a chance before you start writing them off.

Nicely done. I haven't read a ton of Brian Wood. X-Men wasn't bad, just kinda dull. What I've read of Northlanders I've loved. Ellis and Shalvey were a dream team, but I think Wood and Smallwood are a fine replacement.

I love the optimism and hope you're right. I definitely plan on giving them a fair shake and read at least their first arc/5 or 6 issues.

I don't know why people are complaining about his current X-Men run when it has been fantastic. I've never felt so intrigued by any of the female characters that are appearing except Psylocke.

Also, amybe I'm not up to date but what is the new creative team for MK besides Wood?

I just hope he doesn't try to immitate Ellis' style of writing. If he thinks he can't do one issue stories he shouldn't, the formula only worked because it worked for Ellis. Wood should do the format he feels most comfortable with.
Other than that I haven't read anything from him :-P

I'm pretty sure that's what he's doing, one shot stories that are tied together in an overarch.
