This isn't about Superman or anything other than the usage of the phrase "slave name". Black people in America have what we call "slave names" beucase "Smith", "Jones", "McGillicutty" and most other "African-American" last names are the names of European slave owners. I'm sure black people were named after people other than slave owners during slavery, but the basic concept is that my real name is 'Kunta Kinte' but they made me call myself 'Toby'. This is a big deal to those who know how important a people's history is to their future. Our connection to the past has been severed and replaced with surnames that have no meaning to us. For them to use that term to describe anything except what I just explained is plain wrong, especially a situation where Clark was LOVED by the Kents. A situation where Superman KNOWS his real name and his history. The reason we - black people - harp on this is becuase we DON'T know our real names and the circumstances we those of NO LOVE to the point where the descendants of the slave owners still hate the descendants of the slaves generations later. That's some HATE for your azz. Shame on you DC. No one would ever be that cavalier with the sensitive aspects of other minorities' cultures.
