Black captain America what?!

My only problem is that someone replacing Steve is overplayed.
Recently we had a story about another Cap. America and it was actually from a better writer than Remender (Remender was building up Ian Zola so I am surpriced Falcon became the new Cap). And it diminishes Falcon to a sidekick rather than a partner Plus Falcon was cool for the first time in his life as Falcon and Marvel goes and takes away that by making him a b-list Captain America seems very short-sighted from their part.

Anyway too many changes going on at Marvel so that clouds my judgement a lot.

It's neat. I don't know... it's kind of hard to get excited for something that we know is not going to be permanent.

Funny thing, though: here in Italy, in the entertainment section, a journalist completely misunderstood the news and wrote "Fresh ideas: in the next movie, Captain America will be black."

Not sure how to feel, lol.

*another* Captain America. *yawn* I really don't give a damn that he's black since it's someone else taking up the mantle.

I have no problem with this, I know it won't last. Just like I know the female Thor won't last. Its Marvel, in under a year if even that long they'll start to get skiddish about it, then those characters will that were replaced will step it up in another role, then some crisis will happen where the replacements fail, Steve and Original Thor will get their power/mantle back and start the whole damn cycle over again. I love a lot of characters from Marvel and DC but the companies are too damned predictable.

It's lame and unoriginal.

Its most likely only temporarily, Steve and the male Thor will be back,but it doesnt hurt for a change at the moment.Lets just see how this all plays out.

It's mostly ignorance and superficiality of the person writing the piece of news.

I want Tony Stark or Thor to be Captain America. Now that would be a twist.

It would be something that would tick me off, I don't like tinkering with established characters like that, unless it's an alternate universe or something. Not that it would matter really, I just wouldn't like it. :P

I like it, but Steve will be back in time for Avengers 2, much like Peter Parker was back in time for ASM 2

New fans- Quit being babies, this kind of crap happens all the time. It'll be over soon enough and within a few months after its over it will rarely ever even be mentioned again. Don't like it stop reading Marvel and DC because they've been doing it this way since the 60s.

The only reason Falcon's Captain America is because he appeared in Cap 2.

I should also add Old Fans-Quit crying, you should be used to this crap by now.

Me, I'm bored of it. :P New Cap has been done a half dozen times by now.

What I don't get is all these people who freak out about things like this as if its some unprecedented event, when its something that has happened 15 times before. There have been 4, in cannon Batmen, there have been 12 Captain Americas, just in the 616, there have been 2 Wolverines, 5 Thors, 6 if you count the new Female Thor, At least 3 separate characters have been called Hulk not to mention the 5 other incarnations that are just separate personalities and 3 Iron Men, 3 Blue Beetles, 2 Questions, 4 Robins (New 52 pre flashpoint there had been 6). Seriously this is an old issue. And before anyone starts thinking I'm talking Alternate realities, no I didn't even count those, these are all main cannon for Marvel and DC. Tho 2 of those Batmen may have been removed in the New 52, I'm not sure.

@joshmightbe: there's also been 2 spiderman, kinda lol. Not including the clones just peter and ock. Although you could say ben was spiderman too for a bit.

@proto3296: I'm not gonna act like the reactions to Thor and Cap's change up is sexism or racism like someone on this thread will eventually. I've been a fan long enough to know that a lot of it is just the hatred of change that a lot of fan boys have.

The creative team is stellar and I am genuinely a Sam Wilson fan. I'm not against the idea, I just dont care much for the costume and I'm tired of Steve getting replaced every few years.

Next, Stark is replaced by Pepper potts as 'Iron-lady'.

My problem is: Why Falcon? Why use a character with his own established name to take up the mantle of a another hero. I mean if you wanted to do the who "WE GOT A BLACK CHARACTER!! LOOK AT US, LOOK AT US!!!, why not Patriot.

@spideysense44: I'm calling it, she's gonna turn out to be Thor Girl trying to step up. And just in case your a new fan, yes Thor Girl is an actual character that exists.

@thatguywithheadphones: Well Falcon has an established connection to Cap that Patriot can't really compete with. Its a lot like when Dick Grayson stepped up as Batman (I was not a big fan of that.) He had long been established as Nightwing at that point and a pretty big deal in the DCU in his own right. I don't doubt that Marvel did hope for a "Diversity" sales bump but Sam taking over isn't out of character for him, and there is a pretty valid excuse for it.

@experio: Its equally possible but it would seem weird to me if Marvel went to all the trouble of acquiring the rights to the character if they're just going to drop her name and slap her in a Thor costume. That'd be like if after they bought Marvel Man they dropped his mantle and made him the new Captain Marvel.

It's a cool idea that I support 100 perfect. It's comics, so things will change back to normal in time.

Saw this last night on the Colbert Report and I don't see the problem with it.

I'm okay with it. I dropped Captain America a while ago anyway. Although I can't help feeling that Falcon's time as Cap will be very.... Forgettable.
