If there was a alien invasion that nobody saw coming and they waged war on Earth who would you choose to lead a team to save the Earth

Superman, Batman can be co-leader IMO. If there was an alien invasion I'd choose Batman given he's could create tactics to defeat the aliens. Supes seems like the leader that could give encouraging words.

Depends on what kind of leader you want. Superman's more likely to get people willing to fight for him, Batman's more likely to lead his team to victory.

Both serve their own purpose. I'd prefer Batman for an alien invasion.

I would follow Batman. I feel like he would have more of a plan...wait how much prep? :P

Superman is the guy who gives the rousing speech at the beginning, Batman is the guy who leads his troops to victory.

Without Supes, Batman probably wouldn't have troops to lead.

Without Bats, Superman probably wouldn't have the tactics to win.

I'd prefer Batman because of his tactics and smarts. New 52 superman is very rash sometimes. I would trust Batman more to come up with a plan to win. In terms of leading the JL though I'd take superman, although Batman can handle it too.

It depends on the type of leader you want. I would most definitely follow Batman into a fight because he would come up with a plan that will guarantee us the win.

I wish there was an "I can't choose" option. I see each as a different kind of leader, each suited to his particular niche.

As an example: when I was in High School, I was co-captain of my fencing team, as was my best friend. He had the greater skill at the sport, but wasn't as good at communicating with team members, while the opposite was true for me. When it came to organizing practices and coordinating events, I'd take point. When it came to leading drills and actually winning at meets, he'd lead.

I see Batman and Superman in the same way. The former is the planner and the latter is the negotiator. Bruce leads with cunning and skill, Superman leads with inspiration and might. Each one is suited to a particular role: when a hard choice needs to be made (should we detonate this satellite, killing 100 astronauts, to stop an alien fleet from reaching Earth?) I'd want Batman in the pilot's seat. When there is a need for pure strength or a kinder hand (should we attempt to reason with our foes before attacking?) I'd choose Superman.

It depends. Pre 52 Supes actually had good tactical skills. New 52 is too based on instinct.

They both are great leaders, but in different ways. Superman is the coach, Batman is the team captain, IMO.

I'd say it's the other way around.

Superman seems more likely to rouse the soldiers and people to fight back while Batman seems more likely to pick certain people to execute a plan than a frontal assault. I go with Superman for moral purposes

@laidblack: Maybe that was a poor comparison. The way I see it, it's an Xavier/Cyclops thing. Supes makes the team discussions, Batman carries out the battle plans. It could be that I just haven't read enough Justice League comics, though.

Superman is the type to lead by example and by being that way people just follow. Just look at Kingdom Come, Superman left and things went to sh!t.

@proto3296: Supes let Lois and his father die? You make it seem like Batman had control over their deaths but if Superman is what everybody makes him to be, he could've prevented them from dying. If he was fast enough to reverse time then he could've saved Lois and all the other citizens. The only robins that died were Jason and Damian. Batman wasn't present at the time when they both died and unlike Superman, he doesn't have the super speed, strength, or hearing that Supes has.

Batman. He will do what it takes to win, whereas Superman is a people pleaser. Batman will tell it like it is.

Batman is a great tactician but he sucks as a leader, heck his ex-Robins make for better leaders than he does. That is not to say that Superman is a bad tactician but I think there is a difference between being able to come up with great fight plans that utilize people best and being able to lead people, encourage people, be a symbol, and a diplomat of sorts to the entire world.
