Best villain for a Justice league origin?

Starro is good villian for origin of Justice League/Justice League of America. Darksied is for more older JL/JLA.

This depends on what origin they're going to structure the film after.

If Pre/Post-Crisis then they should have STARRO bring the League together.

If the based on New52 (which I think they're going to do) then there's a good chance we see Darkseid.

Personally I prefer STARRO. Loved how the MARVEL Studios used Loki the teams original villain to bring the Avengers together...would love for WB/DC to do the same with the Justice League and STARRO.

Something like Starro or Despero. Working up to Darkseid. Darkseid needs to be presented as DCU big bad the way Thanos is being presented for the MCU.

Starro is good because that's what the creators intended. I did really, really love the white martians though. Made Martian Manhunter feel more special to the team.

Starro is lame and White Martians outclass everyone not named Superman.

I actually think the original plan was for some sort of team-up between the villains to fight The Avengers. I remember the actor who plays Loki saying that they originally were going to have him work alongside The Red Skull.

Giant Brainiac, Brother EYE, Anti-Monitor, a coalition between The New Gods and Apokolips, Doomsday, possibly, but only in the event the plan is to do the Death of Superman.

Personally, I would go with that line of thinking, as I think having Doomsday do anything less than dominate The League is a waste of his character.

What if they plan to use The Anti-Monitor for that role?

I'd like to see

Justice League 1 - Darkseid

Justice league 2 - crime syndicate

Justice league 3 - anti monitor

Or

1 - starro (kinda lame), despero, maybe white Martians

2 - injustice league

3 - Darkseid

The odds of it actually being Starro are slim to none. I think the current rumor is brainiac. If anyone wants the DC movies to succeed they won't want a giant alien starfish to be their first villian

Darksied is too big to be the first villain.

I can see Starro within the DCCU. The tentacled machine that Superman fought in MoS was sort of Starro-like, though it could be emulated by Brainiac as well.

Anyway, I voted for Starro because of the potential it holds as a cosmic menace. It can mind control everyone! Millions of starfish!

Darkseid's too big for an origin story. I almost never take Starro seriously. I'd pick Vandal Savage to be honest.

You can't take Starro seriously, but a slightly above average immortal you think could challenge The League?

Even if I did agree with that, Savage is a planner, and most likely any threat he posed would be drawn out into at least two films. Three would probably get you the most bang for your buck, but then if we're going to use a planner, Lex Luthor would get the nod before Savage.

Darkseid shouldn't be fighting rookies. Maybe you could use some of his minions (Steppenwolf, Mantis, Kalibak, etc), as sort of scouts or rogue agents early on, building up to a full confrontation a few movies down the line, but not right out the gate.

I'm not even saying this because of his threat or power, but because of his station. He is the head of an entire god-world with complex and far-reaching ambitions. Personally engaging in fisticuffs with a handful of peculiar hairless apes on the latest backwater he's discovered shouldn't be very high on his list of priorities. That's pretty much exactly what minions are for.

@scouterv: That would have been interesting. Sounds like they wanted to kick things off with a version of the Masters of Evil. I'm glad it justed ended up being Loki, as it pays homage to the the origins of the team and the classic 1st issue. I'm a big fan of using classic villians, so far we've had Loki and now Ultron coming up with Thanos around the corner. I'm hoping we get to see Kang perphaps after INFINITY WARS.

As far as the Justice League is concerned, I still stand by STARRO as my preferred first villian of choice. Some on here think he's corney, but I think it can done right if modernized in the proper way. Much like a combination of classic STARRO the League first fought combined with STARRO from R.E.B.E.L.S...but that's just wishful thinking on my part. It's more likely we see either Brainiac (whom is my 2nd choice) or they just kick things off with Darkseid (ala New52).

No Secret Society option.

Brainiac, Injustice League, CSA, Darkseid, would all be cool villains for a Justice League movie.

I don't think CSA or Darkseid would be a good choice for a first movie though.

I think a lot of people seem to think Darkseid is too big to start with for The League, but it's not like they actually beat him. In the origin comic, they merely stopped his initial invasion and sent him back. They won the battle, but Darkseid isn't defeated. Merely stalled.
