Best Venom series recommendations..

As the title states, what is the best Venom series to date? Im pretty new with comics and from what Ive read on the net, the Eddie Brock Venom apparently lacked character in comparison to Rick Remender's Flash Thompson series. I know that Venom started off as a villain or something...(Correct me if Im wrong) so Id love a series where hes ruthless and is taken over by the alien symbiote. Any suggestions would be great! Also, are there any good Venom vs Wolverine stories?

I highly recommend Rick Remender's run. It was my favorite on-going and it's really good because Flash Thompson is such a great character.
