Best vampires in fiction.

The vampires of Trueblood are total idiots...every single character on Trueblood is a sorry excuse for a character, honestly. I got super in to that show when I was flicking through the channels during the first season and saw a vampire (Eric) totally destroy some dude in a dungeon. I thought to myself, "Finally!!! Some real scary violent vampires!!". I've stuck with the series since just for the awesome violence. Watching Bill or Eric kill someone is always good fun. But the plot lines and the acting are all...so...awful. Why in the hell would the vampires EVER come "out of the coffin"? Why would they not just turn a biologist into a vampire so they could find a cure for their disease? Why the hell hasn't some random vampire eaten Skokie what with all the midnight runs through Louisiana forests that she does whenever she has some nonsensical reason to be upset? And Sookie!! Without a doubt...THE worst character I've ever had the displeasure of observing. Anna paquin is terrible. Literally all of True bloods big problems are because Sookie did something stupid or some 1000 year old vampire can't control himself at her southern bell beauty. Why are vampires in fiction never cultured and intelligent? They've lived thousands of years without getting a splinter and amassed vast sums of money and power and influence yet they can be fooled by 20-something's....end rant.

Honestly, I like Buffyverse Vampires.

Vampire The Masquerade handles it very well, if you try to break the masquerade by revealing that vamps and other supernaturals are real, you will be hunted down.

Vamp from the MGS series

Even though he's not a REAL vampire, but in MGS2 you didn't really know until MGS4 explained more how he heals and why he bites and what not.

My two favorite vampires are Angel/Angelus from Buffy. And Lestat, from Vampire Chronicles.

There are these vampires in Guillermo Del Toro's the Strain series, I've read the books and am aware they just released a tv show based on it but the vampires there are written to be more intimidating than recent depictions.

As a fellow True Blood enthusiast, I have to say Godric was by far the best vampire on the show.....perfect blend of power, self-awareness and morality. He was just awesome. Eric is a distant second.

Yes he was. What a wasted character. The only sensible, intelligent and actually developed character on the show has gotten pushed aside. I also like Eric in second place but they've embarrased him this season. its comical what they've done to him (did you see 90s Eric?) I also like Russel tied with Eric for second place.

I'm so utterly unimpressed by vampires as a whole that I can't think of any that I respect all that much.
