I do love the Bucky retcon by Ed Brubaker. The only retcon I actually like more than that had to be Geoff John's retcon for Hal Jordan turning evil. It actually added a new layer of depth to the character that made him interesting as a result.
Second the Parallax retcon just because it succeeded what it was trying to accomplish(Make Hal Jordan the main green lantern and have him atone for his past misdeeds) and because Emerald Twilight was terrible.
How has no one mentioned Crisis on Infinite earths yet? It kickstarted the modern age of comics.
But does that count as a retcon? CoIE took everything you knew and threw most of it out and started over from scratch in many cases. While a retcon is (in my mind) a change made in the present that reaches back through time to explain itself.
Not really sure I have one, some are better handled than others, but basically I think such things as retcons should be planned and carried out by the same people. Like say in the current WW book it turns out Athena has been guiding events from behind the scenes the whole run and reveals it at the very end of the run, thats great, it means there's been a plan all along even if we readers failed to see it. What wouldn't be great was if someone else came in later and just added Athena's plot without thinking about if it was meant to be there or not.
