Science fiction, horror, drama, action, just no superheroes in it, what's the best movie you saw this summer and why?
Best NON-Superhero movie you saw this summer (2013)?
I honestly didn't think 2013 was too great movie-wise, especially when you take out superhero films.
I'd say Pacific Rim. While the plot was just good in my opinion, the special effects were one of the best I've ever seen.
Star Trek by far.
Planning to see Don Jon this week, if its as good as it looks, it may pass Into Darkness for me.
World War Z was probably the best film I saw this year not involving a superhero. Absolutely loved it
Nothing.
Geez-Us, 2013 has been the worst cinema year by far...
Just further proof the CBM genre is dominating right now.
@wishiwassuperman: I was so excited for WWZ! But I never got around to watching it?
Star Trek: Into Darkness and Pacific Rim were great movies, I also thought Despicable Me 2 was great as well.
Doctor Strangelove.
No seriously, I watched it for the first time in August.
That is one of my favorite films every............ It holds up pretty well for being so old.
Nothing.

... Not entirely.
Iron Man 3, Man of Steel, The Wolverine, Kick-Ass 2... All 4 were huge disappointments.
Pfft, and I thought The Amazing Spider-Man ruined 2012. It's not near as disappointing as this year IMO.
@tyrus: Your opinions. Not mine.
TASM was easily the best Spiderman, no contest.
Man of Steel is one of my top 5 favorite CBM's
Ironman 3 and Kick ass 2 were ok (not great, but not huge disappointments)
Wolverine was boinrg, I will give you that.
@allstarsuperman: watch it. In fact for me, outside of MoS, it's the best movie I watched this year. I thought it was brilliantly done, and i'm not really interested the zombie thing. No idea what it's like compared to the book, although I usually find the books are better, so if you've read it, it might not seem as good. Otherwise I definitely recommend it.
@tyrus: Kick Ass 2 was the only dissapointment for me this year. Iron Man 3, Man of Steel, and The Wolverine all ranged from pretty good to awesome IMO.
@anzendenai: I heard people liked it a lot. I can't stand that actor from Green Hornet, forgot his name.
Everyone should see Mud. It's easily one of the best movies I've seen this year.
