Hey there, comic fans, and welcome back to 'Best Battles in New Comics.' Every Friday I'll highlight my favorite action scenes, of course providing plenty of scans for your eyes to enjoy as well. I won't provide all of the images, though. After all, I don't want to spoil all of the fun for ya, especially if you haven't picked up the comic yet.
"Why isn't *insert fight here* listed?" Well, it's because I don't read every new comic out there. However, I did create this thread quite some time ago for that very reason. You see, if there's a battle that you adore on new comic book day, it's basically your duty to suggest it in that thread.
Now, let's dive into the fun. Grab some popcorn (unless you're on a diet, and if you are, keep up the good work!) and enjoy the following fight scenes from THE WALKING DEAD, INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US and BLOODSHOT.
Michonne & Carl vs. Zombies (THE WALKING DEAD #108)
It's Michonne and Carl taking on zombies. Do I really need to elaborate on why I selected this encounter? It's rather obvious, isn't it? Michonne + sword + zombies = always a good time. Toss in someone with a gun -- someone being Carl in this case -- and even more fun is had.
By this point, Michonne knows stabbing and slashing anywhere expect for the head is basically a waste of energy for her. So, we're treated to two smooth and gruesome decapitations. Carl won't let her outshine him, though, and the little Mr. Grimes gets two brutal headshots with his pistol.
Being a kid in this universe ain't easy. Being a kid with only one eye in this universe is much worse, though. Despite his bravery, the poor kid technically has a blind spot now, and sadly for him, that proves to be his downfall. Luckily for the wee won, Michonne and her blade aren't far away.
I don't know about you, but I seriously hope we see Shiva maul some zombies. How can Robert Kirkman give us a pet tiger and not have it viciously tear apart some walkers?
Wonder Woman / Superman vs. an army / Ares (INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US #9)
It's no secret I adore Tom Taylor's digital comic, but this week was especially awesome. Not only did it have an absurdly fun fight with Wonder Woman, it also had top notch artwork by David Yardin. Give your eyes a treat and check out Wonder Woman flying through a tank head first. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure "headbutt of doom" won't be a special move for her in the video game.
Prior to that, she was chopping apart fighter jets. Yes, I'm purposely leaving some big moments out to motivate you to go buy the digital issue. Anyway, Taylor has given Diana quite the physical upgrade because she's soon plowing through bullets like they're nothing. They just casually bounce off her face and the rest of her body. The soldiers naturally realize they're screwed (as if headbutting a tank wasn't enough, right?) and bolt. But she's not safe by any means. Ares has been observing, and all of this chaos has made him powerful. Too powerful for even Wonder Woman, in fact.
Fortunately for Diana, Superman rocks Ares with a vicious punch to the face. This grants her a moment to follow-up with her sword and she does not show even a moment of hesitation. With no remorse, she swiftly removes the God's hand and then impales him into the ground.
Would you want to see Ares as a playable character in the game?
Bloodshot vs. Gamma (BLOODSHOT #9)
Gamma's crazy powerful, but Bloodshot is nothing if not persistent. In spite of her snapping his wrist, he's still going to give her all he's got. Tragically, it still doesn't mean much and she flat-out wrecks him. I love you, Bloodshot, but sometimes seeing you suffer is just so darn fun.
The nanites give our hero a wealthy amount of powers, and BLOODSHOT #9 shows off a new one. He doesn't have enough protein in his system to repair all of the damage done to his body, so he instead shifts his mass. One arm goes skinny as a stick and the other turns into a classic Arnold Schwarzenegger arm. He gets it hit in, but still, he's hopelessly outclassed here.
Gamma feeds off the children's fear, but upon seeing Bloodshot's actually there to save them, they stand up to the big ol' lady. The last thing I'd wish upon anyone is a bunch of pissed off Harbingers, and that's exactly what Gamma's about to face.
Who else is stoked for 'Harbinger Wars?'
