BEST NEW 52 SUPERMAN VILLAIN SO FAR?
Scott Lobdell was definitely the most effective New 52 Superman villain...
LOL
Lex Luthor has been technically written the best out of this selection of villains but he's not a brand new New 52 Superman villain. Speaking strictly about New 52 Superman villains, I'd say
- Vyndktvx - A really good twist on an evil Mr Mxyzptlk and he really challenged Superman in a trippily awesome way, but then what do you expect from a Grant Morrison created villain? I really enjoyed how he wrote Mr Mxyzptlk too.
- Xa-Du: Probably the best and most developed rogue in The Anti Superman Army, he did also appear in what's probably the best written New 52 Superman story, Action Comics #13. Loved how Morrison did his motivations and goals. It's a shame he's being wasted in Doomed but maybe he'll get done better after the event is finished.
- SuperDoom - Morrison's version, not the lame current one. I didn't like him at first but when he showed up in Action Comics #15-18, everything clicked into place as to why he works so well as a villain. A corrupted media version of Superman conforming to society's gritty and dark passions was a cool inversion of the anti Superman clone.
- Wraith - Snyder did a good job contrasting current New 52 Superman with Wraith's Golden Age soldier inspired take on the character. He's also posed a great psychological and physical challenge to Superman that isn't an unsympathetic villain in the slightest. Just misguided and a slave to orders and protocol.
H'el
....spont. ;)
@lvenger: what he said.
I think the people picking H'el just like his appearance and powerset. H'el on Earth was garbage and so was Lodbell's whole run.

H'El's powerset is perfect for the battle forums and he's probably the most powerful/versatile Superman rogue in this list. But in terms of his origin, personality and motives, he's very poorly done. It's to be expected from a hack writer like Lobdell.

I think he has a lot of potential to be a fantastic villain in the future.

This guy is on the ball.
Xa-Du is one the few genuine attempts at giving Superman a new villain beyond "this guy can punch really hard!" or "this chick can fly very fast!"

Well he's now atomised into tiny pieces and dissipated across the universe so I don't see how he's gonna be a villain. And it wasn't that good an idea in the first place IMO.

Vyndktvx's entire scheme against Superman hardly involved attacking Superman physically himself till the end of Morrison's run. And Wraith has provided a psychological as well as physical challenge for Superman earlier in the story.

Vyndktvx was pretty cool but he feels kinda redundant with Mxyzptlk around, not to mention I'm not sure how you'd up the ante after his first and only encounter with Superman, I mean, the guy attacked him through different points of his life in succession, that's pretty huge.
Wraith is alright but he feels kind of underdeveloped and two-dimensional, not mention his design is crap. I'm rarely one to question hoodies on a character's design but Wraith's makes no sense; seriously, why the hell does he have a hoodie?!

I think Morrison would only have Vyndktvx as a one off villain given what he did to Superman. Sometimes one hit villains can be the most effective and hard hitting of all on the hero. Plus Mxy is supposed to be Superman's consistent 5th Dimensional trouble, I don't think he could handle fighting Vyndktvx all the time.
As for Wraith, he definitely wasn't underdeveloped in Superman Unchained #4-6 where his motivations, outlook and beliefs contrasted sharply with Superman's. He wanted to help Superman develop into the kind of being he'd become over 75 years of his life but he's also willing to follow orders and do whatever's necessary to end the threat, even if it's put someone down or blow up an entire city for it.
H'el is far beyond any supermanls lemit as he has defeated combined forces of superman, ser girl & super boy and knocked all three down ...
go to wiki to cheq his ability of matter manupulation, teleportation.... H'el czn teliport others from distance at will as he teleported super girl to surface of sun

Isn't H'El sort of just a mixture between Fabio and the Eradicator?
@doomdeadpool: I know who he is, I was just joking.
They are just somewhat similar.
Editing because i made some word mistakes :p
H'el is far beyond any supermans lemit as he has defeated combined forces of superman,,supergirl & superboy and knocked all three down(he seperated superboy from superboy's suit,,altered supergirl's size at will, teleported superboy with him after he knocked down superman, supergirl & even teleported superboy from far distance, superboy couldn't make a move) ...
go to wiki to cheq his ability of matter manupulation, teleportation.... H'el can teleport others from distance at will as he teleported super girl to surface of sun & even teleported superboy with him when superboy was in distance)
#Jogga and plus he is not vunarable to kryptonite & also posses same power infront of red sun.. And don't need to rely on yellow sun to genarate power .. Yellow sun just gives him extra boost
H'el Looks and powerset wise easily. Character wise not so much. But maybe someone will reuse him in the future and do him justice.
