Can anyone suggest some really good hardboiled/noir/detective comics? The reason I say no Bat books is that I'm reading a lot of them already. I'm looking for something else detectivie though?

The Question is really good. Also 100 Bullets, not really a detective comic but a noir for sure!

@hit_monkey: Pick up Brubaker's Scene of the Crime or Criminal. Hell anything by Brubaker really. Checkout Tumor by Josh Fialkov.

DMZ has some good detective elements, though its more of a drama.

I also recomend Greg Rucka's run on Punisher. It had some nice detective stories too.

Chew is good, though I don't think it's really what the OP is looking for.

  • Fell
  • Gotham Central
  • Grandville
  • A History of Violence
  • The Killer
  • Parker adaptions by Cooke
  • Road to Perdition
  • Sandman Mystery Theatre
  • Scene of the Crime - seconding this
  • Skreemer
  • Stray Bullets - this came back recently
  • Torpedo

I haven't seen the movie. There have been other installments of it in comic form by the same creator.

There's currently a Watson and Holmes comic that might interest you and the OP.

@hit_monkey: Look up some of Elongated Man's comics/stories. Some good detective stuff in there.

Also, Detective Chimp!
