It doesn't have to be one from 2013, just one you have discovered.

Well?

Michel Fiffe's Copra. To quote Comics Alliance, it's the best comic about squads on suicide missions.

@waezi2: Does it have to be a single issue or can it be a trade?

#4 Edited by waezi2 (7622 posts) - - Show Bio

@battle_forum_junkie: It can be a trade too. Heck, it can be a series, if you want. I should have changed the name.

I'm glad to see so many Green Arrow fans on here. In 2013, I'd have to say Green Arrow comics. Jeff Lemire's run on this series has made it my favorite DC book. I actually look forward to it every month. On top of that, I've recently read Green Arrow: Year One by Andy Diggle and Jock … and THAT is amazing too. I'm so upset that I've avoided GA pre-52 when he's actually really awesome.

This one!

Seriously pick up Battling Boy by Paul Pope!

#21 Posted by EnigmaLantern (763 posts) - - Show Bio

Green Lantern by Geoff Johns, Thor God of Thunder by Jason Aaron, Superman Unchained by Scott Snyder and Batman by Scott Snyder; more specifically Death of the Family.

Events-wise would have to be Trinity War.

All New 52/Marvel NOW because I started reading comics only in the last 10 months or so

@waezi2: My favourite series would probably have be Thor God of Thunder, it's been consistently brilliant and its one of my favourite characters, but it's incredibly close, I do really like the other series I pointed out.

Ultimate Spider-Man.

I read all of Invincible for the first time in 2013 so that was probably the best thing I read during the year. God of Thunder, Harbinger Wars, and Fatale are up there.

@waezi2: heard of it but I never read it. Is he in the Invincible Universe. I think I remember him from one of the story lines where people from image titles were a part.

I read Sandman for the first time this year :3

Mind telling me, where do you start with him ?

#36 Edited by HeckTate (1225 posts) - - Show Bio

@thatguywithheadphones: Ideally start at the beginning. I know they released a first issue reprint for a dollar recently and most comic shops would carry trades for that. But if you're not looking to do 10 TPBs you can kind of jump on at any of the first 5 or so. I wouldn't call any of them really good starting points except the very beginning, but I'd say the first 5ish volumes aren't as dependent on the previous arcs as the latter 5ish.

Tie between Saga, East of West, Invincible and Justice League #23

Really? I liked the Trinity War event but I don't think any part of the event was even on the same level as the other titles you mentioned.

It's Quantum and Woody for me, that book is hilarious. I got turned on to a lot of good comics the past year but I think Q&W is probably the one I enjoy the most every month.

#37 Posted by TheFirstLantern (1506 posts) - - Show Bio

@hecktate: Oh they weren't but I started reading comics again with that particular event. I liked the finale. Led to bigger things.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is one of the best battle manga ever. It gets way better from Part 3 onward. Good choice.

As for me, 2013 was the year I got back into reading comics. It had been a long while, and I picked up a lot of stuff. Started expanding outside DC and Marvel too. That was a really good decision. It's hard to pick something, but Valiant has been putting out really good stuff. I liked the Umbrella Academy, and I must say the new TMNT comic has been fantastic.

Individual comic hands down goes to GL 20. As faras series go, overall I'd have to say Saga. But if we're talking new series then Rocket Girl. Only three issues in and it's the title that gets me the most excited.

#43 Posted by waezi2 (7622 posts) - - Show Bio

@cap10nate: Yeah, Cecil once asked Invincible to arrest him. He also had a cameo in the Invincible War.
