It's hard to believe it's been a week already! It's already Friday which means it's time once again to select some of our favorite covers from this week's new releases. Don't forget to let us know if we missed any good ones, and to post them in the forums!

First up is the beautiful cover to this month's X-FACTOR #244 by artist David Yardin. I love the expression on Banshee's face on this issue -- her glare is really powerful. The way that Yardin uses birds covered by a dark shadow, blending them into Banshee's figure is beautiful. You can't quite tell where their winged bodies end and where her figure begins.

Next up is the cover to FABLES #121 of which there are two. We went with what appears to be the final version -- it's much lighter and more detailed than the first cover that can be seen here. Artist Joao Ruas manages to beautifully blend light and darkness in a single image. Although it's aesthetically beautiful, it's still a very creepy picture. The figure's blank stare that can barely be seen beneath the shadows, and the scarring at her lips tell a sort of a story. The graphics along the perimeter of the image also add a nice touch.

I don't know whether it was the fact that I love Lobster Johnson, or whether it's the colors that artist Tonci Zonjic chose for the image, but it's gorgeous. Front and center is the shadowy figure of Lobster Johnson, for the cover of LOBSTER JOHNSON: CAPUT MORTUUM. The character is seemingly transparent and through and behind him is a city scape, illustrated in a sort of abstract way; a simple combination of colored squares set just right. It's a gorgeous image that really stands out, and is reason enough to go out and pick up this issue. The combination of different shades of blues, yellows greys and black make this cover really aesthetically pleasing.

There were two really great covers for THE SHADOW #5 this week, one by Francesco Francavilla and the other by Alex Ross. Weighing them both, we decided to go with Ross' cover. Normally, Alex Ross' pictures are these great sort of landscape scenes that fill up the entire page, but not this time. That might be why this image sort of caught us by surprise. The picture features The Shadow standing upright, blending into the background of a shining red sun behind him. The background resembles the Japanese flag. It's impressive to see the way Ross blends realism and an abstract image with such ease, showcasing some of his versatility.

how about daredevil 18's cover?

Are you kidding me! DAREDEVIL #18 wins! The redness of his insides reflect the color of his costume! Such a travesty to not be included.

DD's cover blows away the covers on this list

Rivera did an amazing job (as usual) on that Daredevil cover. One of today's greatest artists. Daredevil's circulatory system extends to his horns, which I lol'd about.

Yeah, I've been recommending that issue to everyone at my store all week. Definitely one of the better covers this week. I also was a fan of the artwork on Ghost #0.

This is so amazing. Why they never pick the cooler covers?!

The X-Factor #244 cover was my favorite this week!

Usually I'm a bit bland by Fables' covers, but this week's is neat! Like a Dave McKean tribute.

The X-Factor covers should always be on these best covers features. David Yardin kicks ass.

LOL, Comic Vine always overlooks the better comics of the week, I thought this was common knowledge XD

I do hope you're reading X-Factor, and not JUST looking at the cover. X-Factor has been one of the most consistently great titles from either Marvel or DC, with little attention.

The Daredevil one was pretty good, too.

Got to say, from an artistic viewpoint, the Fables cover is a really brave choice by a cover artist. Really subtle, really tricky to get across the requisite intrigue and drama a cover needs with an image like that, but mission accomplished.

I love the Fables cover. Creepy yet beautiful. Daredevil should be on their too though.

@RuinedGlory: While this is a good cover a reviewer pointed out that there's almost no blood flow to his brain. o_0

I'm definitely feeling all the cover choices this week. I was surprised to see like four or five for the Shadow.

Shadow FTW....another shining example how Ross is the Dean of Comic Book artists IMHO.

That Daredevil cover is sick. So was the cover for The Ultimates with Thor on the cover.
