@k4tzm4n: Its the first time i've read anything by Gage but he wrote Superior really well. I'll keep an eye out for his other stuff in future. Imo this has been the best thing to come out of AU thus far. the other issues have been meuh.
So far I got Venom 33. Toxin vs cannibal creature that has yet to be named was pretty good. Kind of brutal and gritty, plus Shalvey did the artwork and it was awesome.
Detective Comics 19. Bane vs Talons was badass. Definitely one I'd consider.
@k4tzm4n: Dunno if you're able to see this at its full size/quality when you click it but I hope so, more for the Key than anything else. And not only is it a creative way to do a battle (and I'm still trying to decide if this is a depiction of a white run or just a happy accident), but who else puts on their own fight music in the middle of a shootout? AND IN VINYL?! Why this isn't on your pull list, I have no idea, especially when the team is dedicated to making every fight scene stand out in a unique way. I think "fight scenes as music videos" were his exact words.
@k4tzm4n: I think you'd say he's against Mother (the main baddy) and her goons, which are the goo-ified parents (living and dead) of the Young Avengers.
And I just happened across this, which is just for anyone who wanted to get a little look at the making of that scene: http://mckelvie.tumblr.com/post/48924217327/young-avengers-4-that-double-page-spread
Detective Comics #20: Batman vs Emperor Penguin
Green Arrow #20: GA vs Komodo (opportunity for third Nick Fury joke in a row)
Injustice #16: Superman/Batman vs Grundy, Dick Graceful Acrobat Flexible Grayson vs a rock
I'll have to check out DC #20, but the other two are definitely strong contenders.
I was planning on making a rock joke in the honorable mentions... one for Superior, too ;)
I think bad Fury caption jokes now rival BAYSPLOSION.
@k4tzm4n: Heres a few:
- Robyn Hood Vs Police (Robyn Hood: Wanted 1#)
- X Vs basically everyone (X 1#: Fight or Flight)
- Aphrodite IX Vs Augmented Humans (Aphrodite IX 1#) Only lasted like 2 pages but the dialogue was awesome and the art was stunning!
Sadly I don't have access to the first and last, but the 2nd is an honorable mention! Thanks for chiming in.
