Best and worst CGI you've seen in movies!
some of you are just being mean... he said 'worst' ... so I'll go with these...
worst...
Thor: the first movie, although I like the story, the special effects were lacking: The destroyer walking, fighting and Thor flying scenes were bad.
Green Lantern: again, I liked the story but the whole helicopter rescue and Parallax... bad.
Iron Man III: was really bad, I've seen better effects on tv. those lava hot agents, ugh.
Guardian of the Galaxy: my god, Thanos, Groot, looked and moved bad. Marvel hides a lot of bad crap behind the humor in the stories. "ha ha... it's golden and it can do wrong because it made me laugh and feel good" .
Fantastic Four 1 and 2 : a lot of bad stuff.
Batman and Robin : the king of crappy superhero movies! I will trash it every chance I get. But I sense it was cgi crappy on purpose (?), if that makes sense.
the good...
Superman Returns: for all the bad talk it gets, the special effects in this movie are flawless, that plane rescue scene is just flawless, the effects the sequence... just pure Superman gold.
Man Of SteeL : I feel the CGI in this movie was excellent.
Watchmen: same thing as MOS.
Xmen DoFP: I believe the effects were very good in this one. I think B Singer is at his best right now as far as these movies are concerned.
The Hobbit movies: excellent CGI overall.
@blackdog2009: images?
Like several people have pointed out, The Scorpion King from The Mummy Returns was the worst, but CGI Patrick Stewart from X-Men Origins: Wolverine was almsot as bad.
Best:
Terminator 2
Avatar (sh*t plot tho)
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Worst:
This is hard, as most bad CGI at the indie level is usually a result of budget constraints, which you can't really fault the filmmakers for. But on a short count, I'll list the ones I was the most disapointed by:
Transformers 3
Terminator Salvation
Sharknado

Man of Steel has horrible green screen at the end and the liquid metal looks terrible, it doesnt move as well as it did in T2.
Wacthmen CGI its obvious and Bubastis looks pretty bad.
Everything on Syfy
@ganon15: I'm way too lazy for that, so I'll post the trailer and a vfx breakdown
@deathpoolthet1000: Here's the 1996 Titanic movie by comparison

You notice the boat looks like if its flying or something weird going on in the water.
But its stil better that the rough moves of the liquid metal in MOS.
I used to think the Scorpion King in the Mummy was soo freakin sick when I was a kid lol. Now it looks ripped out of a PS2 game. Like literally have never seen CGI in a movie that looks so much like a videogame.
And the Hobbit movies don't have the worst CGI... but with that big name and budget, it should be A LOT better than where it's at, I think. I mean, the LoTR trilogy looks better for for gods sake, and those were started frickin 13 years ago! It just looks very sloppy and rushed to me, and that was very apparent upon my first time watching the first one.
And then I saw they were having one come out every year..
@penderor: they had times with bad green screen specifically in action scenes, in the originals there was times when hobbits were running on a mountain side that was particularly bad
there's parts even in the hobbit with pretty bad green screen, like this bit in the barrel scene at 2:28
I am trying really hard, but I dont see anything green nor I remember hobbits ever running on some mountain.
Lol, green screen doesn't literally mean you're gonna see some green in the background, hahaha..... You can just clearly tell the background is fake..
Best has got to be Jurassic Park. I mean, decades later, it still holds up with modern mega-budget blockbusters. That is just an astounding accomplishment. It was completely mind blowing when it came out.
As far as "movies that could have/should have been good" go, I'll nominate the Matrix sequels. The bullet time thing from the first one pretty much made the movie, but then they did that crappy fight with a purely CG Neo in next film that was just so obviously fake.
I'll also mention the "de-aged" Clu face of Jeff Bridges in Tron Legacy. There's no good reason they shouldn't have made that perfect before the film was released.

Oh...Well then LotR had some scenes like that, but you havent seen it on the first time.
I think Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Movie zords is pretty much one of the worst. But I do love the movie as a kid.
Not sure what best would be, to be honest. I have absolutely no idea.
Worst CGI - Die Another Day, Neo vs the Agent Smiths in Matrix Reloaded, Indiana Jones and theKingdom of the Crystal Skull, parts of King Kong, etc.
Attack of the clones has some horrendous CGI, as well as the re-releases of the OT where Jabba really stands out and looks terrible.
For best LOTR, the newest Godzilla, and T2
Like several people have pointed out, The Scorpion King from The Mummy Returns was the worst, but CGI Patrick Stewart from X-Men Origins: Wolverine was almsot as bad.
lol yae that looked like some video game sh!t.
btw i thought the vampires from i am legend were horrible cgi.
Thoughts?
Thoughts?
Look at the water reaction to the boat and you will notice something weird is going on.
@deathpoolthet1000: for which one?
@deathpoolthet1000: for which one?
Both, but is more easy to notice it in the 97 one, must be the light.
For its budget of 30m, Distract 9 was great.
The Matrix pretty much standardized bullet time shoots, and the fight scene on the roof in particular is GOAT.
Battle of Plennaor Fields in RotK is basically the greatest movie battle sequence ever. At least in terms of large scale.
Jurassic Park obviously.
Inception was also really awesome. Interstellar too, was absolutely gorgeous.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Liu Kang vs Shao kahn fight from MK: Annihilation:
That doesnt deserve to be called a movie.
Nuff said
Best:
Jurassic Park
Pacific Rim
Spiderman Trilogy
Lod of the Rings Trilogy
BvS
Thor Trilogy (except the color grading
sucks)
The Avengers
Guardians Vol.2

Blade Runner 2049
Gravity
Star Wars
Superman Returns
Worst:
The Mummy Returns

@sirneko: Wait are you implying that Wonder Woman has bad visuals?? I know that Ares looks horrible but how about the other visual shots??
