You say that this isnt aimed to start a debate, but in reality it will start a debate. This thread will soon be flooded by both batman and superman fanboys and somehow end up with people arguing on whether batman will beat superman.
on the topic though. Superman will always be the greatest Superhero. Who has better comics is debatable. As of now Batman has better movies and videogamess
Well if anyone wants to debate feel free I guess.
Don't open those doors!
Superman has a lot of great stories to. They're just very underrated in comparison to batman ones
I don't care for either but it's clear that Batman's mainstream.exposure gives him the win. Seriously, the last cartoon Superman had was in the 90s. He has had no modern live action films, and bad video games. Batman has had 4 modern caroons with number 5 on its way. He has had the Nolan trilogy to boost him and the Arkham series, which is soon getting a third game. When you look at it, Batman has had far too much mainstream exposure compared to any other DC character.
Have to go with Batman, The Arkham games and The Dark Knight Trilogy speak for themselves plus the batman animated series is by far the best cartoon ever
@csantilli27: Agreed, youll be amazed to know how many people just become batman fans after playing the arkham games. So if anyone here has a thing against batman, play arkham city or asylum and youll end up being a batman fan.
The game is THAT good.
@digitalshooter9: Both games are incredible. If anyone hasn't try them yet, you should. You won't be disappointed

You say this and I barely even thought Arkham Asylum was above average. I gave it a 3.5/5. Arkham City I enjoyed a lot though.
@bluelantern1995: There should be a fist of the north star game in the style of the Arkham games or Ninja Gaiden (The first two that is.)
Pound for pound, Superman is the better hero, if he put his mind to it he could end all the crime in Gotham in the time it takes Batman to put on his cape and cowl.
@bluelantern1995: When Asylum came out I thought that game was awesome. I wish they had Joker as a playable character for the challenge maps in Arkham City kind of like they had him playable on that DLC map for arkham asylum.
Well if anyone wants to debate feel free I guess.
NO! not another one!

@sliverbat: well considering how they are the most popular heroes of all time for DC I would say they are appropriately rated. "Overrated" is overused and misunderstood.
@sliverbat: whoops my bad haha.
The sarcasm is actually pretty apparent after reading that again.
Better Superhero - Keyword. Hero. Superman takes this. Why? Because there is much more to being a hero than just fighting villains. And Superman is just more capable of doing this. Natural disasters? Look for Superman. Want to change the values of the youth? Go with Supes. Bats is a better crime fighter, if that counts. But they do it differently. Batman stops crime by instilling fear allowing criminals to think-twice before committing a crime. Superman does not fight (at least low level stuff) it but instead he inspires hope and allow the people to not think of crime as an option to begin with. Of course the two can switch roles. Batman does inspire hope (ala TDKR) and of course Superman also tries to fight crime. But they are more effective when the roles aren't switched.
Better books - Different choice for different moods. You want epically grand plots and virtuous idealism? Pick Supes books. You want dark, down-to-earth plots with great depth? Pick Bats books.
Better movies - Batman leads by a longshot. Even if you look at the "lowest" showings (Batman & Robin vs Superman 3), you still have better Bats films than Supes films.
Better games - Supes does not have good games while Bats have the best games in the genre. Do the math.
der ubermensch vs der untermensch
bow down to the superior race!
@auralaria: swag

NO! not another one!
I'm sorry, it's just... it... why can't our fans just be friends again?
@the_stegman: That isnt possible, sorry
Thanks, dude. I needed that.
LOL!!
I love both characters, but personally I think Batman has more great stories, movies, video games, etc. Superman is a great character, but it seems to me that so many writers end up making mediocre stories with him because of how powerful and god-like he is in relation to most of the rest of the DC Universe.With Batman, on the other hand, it seems like it has been much easier for the talented comic book writers that he has had over the years to come up with good stories about just a regular man fighting injustice in a world filled with "gods" (both good and evil) and mad men.
That being said, there have been several writers that have made amazing Superman stories, like, among others, Alan Moore (For the Man Who Has Everything, Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow), Grant Morrison (JLA, All-Star Superman), Mark Waid (Kingdom Come, JLA), Roger Stern, and Dan Jurgens (each of the last two: Death and Return of Superman, Battle for Metropolis, Fall of Metropolis, and several others from the early to mid 90s). I know a lot of people thought the death of Superman story arc was cliche or a cheap stunt, but that was one story that I really enjoyed. I'm also really looking forward to Scott Snyder's upcoming Superman title, Superman Unchained. I really enjoyed his Flashpoint tie-in, Project: Superman.
But yeah, overall, Batman's had the most really good "stuff."
Wow this hasn't gotten that heated. I'm surprised, even proud.
But seriously, how about we talk about how pumped people are for the Batman/Superman team up coming out soon. What better way to highlight the dichotomy of these two than by pairing them up and see the friendship they are so famous for?
batman is greater than supes. superman is so basic
And Batman isn't every bit as basic as Superman?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll never understand comic book fans who don't like both. I understand having a preference, but they're both very entertaining characters (when written well). Matter of fact, some of my favourite comics are Superman and Batman team ups.
Superman is Super-overrated.
WELL BAT MAN IS... BAT OVERRATED!
