Anybody care to give me some examples of really bad writing in a comic book? (Don't mention Spider-Man vs Firelord, I already have that one, I need others).
Bad Writing
Countdown to Final Crisis, Titans East Special #1 and Trials of Shazam have all been heavily criticized. Haven't read them though. :P

Methos says:
"Deathstroke taking Kyle Rayner's ring away from him...M"
He didn't take it, he had a battle of wills while they were both in contact with the ring. I personally don't think it was bad writing and I gave pretty good support for my opinion in another thread.

"Does senseless retcons count? Then DC has lots. :P /CG"
LoL, I already have what I need but I know DC has lots. That's why- I'm going to stop because I can make a nice fat joke about it. LoL.
Jeph Loebs recent Wolverine arc.
This review sums it up really good: http://www.thexaxis.com/wolverine/wolverine55.htm
And Loeb's collection of people with wolf-like powers descended from wolves includes Feral (cat), Thornn (cat) and Sasquatch (magical creature). Hey, they've got fur, right? That's close enough. That's good enough for Jeph Loeb and Axel Alonso, and it'll damn well be good enough for you, oh paying customer. Dog, cat, sasquatch, whatever. They're close enough if you screw up your eyes and squint real hard.
Gambit's agility saving him from Gladiator, then turning around and blasting him of his feet with his deck of cards.
Even though it doesn't bother me very much (because the result has been great so far, apparently), Parallax was retconned to be a "yellow space-bug" instead of an evil Hal Jordan. :D

Batman surviving being attacked by Superman in the Watchtower. If Superman really took Bats by surprise with thee intention of killing him, he would.
Mary Marvel: Originally good, then evil by Black Adam's power, then good again, then accepting her evil powers again from Darkseid (who should never be trusted). Ugh. x_X

Black Widow beating Wonderman in Contest of Champions II
Batman clotheslining Kid Flash in Teen Titans Y1 #3
Robin hurting Wonder Woman in Teen Titans Y1 #3
Penance knocking She-Hulk unconcious but barely scratching Doc Samson.
The Vision making the Sentry believe he is the Void and scaring him off in Secret Invasion #2
Storm scratching Emma Frost's diamond skin with a bundle of straw
Franklin Richards being Galactus and Iron Man hurting a Celestial in Earth X
The Phoenix saying it always had a thing for the Summers family in "What if Vulcan was the Phoenix".
Venom (Mac Gargan) getting his tounge ripped out by Namor.
Venom (Mac Gargan) getting owned by Swordsman.
Midnight Lantern says:
"Venom (Mac Gargan) getting his tounge ripped out by Namor."
With how much Venom's tongue is actually outside his mouth, I'm not surprised. LoL xD

Midnight Lantern says:
"Venom (Mac Gargan) getting his tounge ripped out by Namor. Venom (Mac Gargan) getting owned by Swordsman. "
How is that not believeable?
Vance Astro says:
"Midnight Lantern says:"Venom (Mac Gargan) getting his tounge ripped out by Namor. Venom (Mac Gargan) getting owned by Swordsman. "How is that not believeable?"
Well, Venom (when is in his fight with Namor) had the upperhand. He was bigger, stronger, had unlimited webs and a piece of thunderbolts tech that let him suck the water out of the air or something like that......To top it off, Namor could'nt even fly due to the fact, that Venom had already ripped his wings off his feet.
And out of no where, Namor jumps up miraculously and rips his tounge out?
I did'nt get it.
Then with Swordsman, Venom stood there and let the guy hit him. Literally, He stood there and basically said "C'mon give me your best shot". Swordsman stabbed with his sword, Venom laughed "Haha, You think your sword can hurt me? Your pathetic" something or other like that.
And Swordsman eletricutes him. Why did'nt Venom just websling the sword away and send a punch at him hard enough to break all the bones in his face?
It's ridiculous.
Midnight Lantern says:
"Venom (Mac Gargan) getting his tounge ripped out by Namor. Venom (Mac Gargan) getting owned by Swordsman. "
Gargan's a retard. It's not that hard for a competent super hero to beat him.

This is why you think it's ridiculous...because you making up stuff.Venom is nowhere near Namor's strenght level.
-Namor not being able to fly doesn't make him any weaker.
-Venom underestimated Swordsman and didn't expect him to hurt him but ended up screaming. It's perfectly logical.

Ebony Bishop says:
"Actually, is it because I'm a Marvel boy that I actually *enjoyed* the Trials of Shazam? That totally felt like a Marvel book, and I really got into it. I mean, I can see why it pissed off the DC fanboys, but as a lifelong Marvelite, it was good stuff!"
I like anything involving Shazam and I'm actually more of a Marvel guy myself.

I haven't read it, but I think many Captain Marvel fans felt insulted or attacked by the concept of Billy Batson being the next Rock of Eternity guardian and Freddy Freeman the new Captain Marvel/Shazam. They probably didn't want things to change.

How long do you think that will go on.You honestly think Marvel is going to let MJ exist for so long without ever encountering Peter again? Without him she has no point of existing.

i know, but the whole arc is just pointless
It's not that the idea was bad, it's that the execution was sloppy. How are we supposed to believe that Peter Parker, the moral compass of the Marvel Universe, would make a deal with the devil? I mean, come on! Could they not have done it better with Loki, who had an actual grudge against Spidey?
And it's not like their marriage was anything special! They were just two regular people in love! There are better marriages even in the same Universe!
It's just sloppy writing.

No it's not pointless. They retconned Spider-man so he can get back to being Spider-man and not the brooding emo b#tch who is significantly stronger that he was before OMD.

true, but i still just find it so... i don't know... badly thought out

I tend more towards DC, but I liked Trials of Shazam. OMD on the other hand stopped me reading Spider-man, I haven't read 616 Spidey since.

They ended the Spider-man I was reading, I wasn't after a new one.

They could have done that without the stinkfest that was OMD.

Yes OMD was writin badly...but something good came out of it.
Assimilation says:

I wouldn't know, I have no intention of reading Spidey until either Quesada leaves Marvel (or at least apologizes and admits the whole thing was a mess) or they put his continuity right.
I'm a very petty guy.

Well Marvel will continue to sell more comics than DC whether you read Spidey or not...Quesada's not worried.

That doesn't bother me, I have lots of grudges with people who don't know who I am. There's also Tim Story for making Galactus a cloud and Oasis for making annoying music. It isn't just famous people either, I have a long running fued with a guy at work that he doesn't know about either.
No one on the Vine has made my list though (or have they?)
It'd be funny if the guy at work has a secret bloodfued (a fued's not a fued unless it's a bloodfued) with you that you don't know about.

Galactus was probably a cloud because he had so little screen time, besides, who said he's not a cloud in Earth-616? It's just how humans perceive him that is shown. ;)

In my mind he does, but that might be my paranoia talking.
@CG: there is space on my list for people who try to argue my reasoning.
