@danhimself: I will allow you to ask on facebook. We should come up with a tag or something. #askgman or something.
@haydenclaireheroes: @Bestostero: Honestly, it is about the views. I have to weigh what's more valuable for my time, shooting and editing this or writing another article. And as long as there are questions.
AWW! I can't watch it. It wont play for me. Bummer. What were the questions asked and answered? I'd like a transcript please.
@ArtisticNeedham: It's 16 minutes long :/
Great segment G-man, it's cool to get some video content that's a bit longer then usual. Hopefully there'll be enough views to warrant more of these in the future. And I know you don't like looking at numbers but I do.. so I hope you don't mind me listing a few of Marvels titles that its outselling, I'll throw them in a spoiler thingy though...
Moral of the story is going by sales figures, I don't think it's in too much danger.
@G-Man: This video has more personality than a great majority of previous CV video content. Not saying the trolls would've not given you hate on the Happy Hour, but I suspect you would've been thought of much more highly had you shown this side of you a bit more (not that I don't find your usual grounded journalistic style suitable for Unscripted, interviews etc.) Different situations call for different presentation is my point and this was certainly a great opportunity to be a bit of a showman. Thoroughly entertaining, I hope this turns out to be a successful venture.
@pikahyper: What questions would you have? Aside from more video content, and the odd mention of a fancy podcast recording studio, I can't say I've noticed any changes to the site in the past few weeks. You could ask G-man here, or on twitter, he's usually pretty good with getting back to fans of the site, or start a thread on the forum?
@feargalr: Just cause you can't see anything doesn't mean it isn't going to happen, the site no longer has access to the Distillery platform so a new site must be built, changes were talked about in Dave's interview but there has been no follow through, the databases were supposed to be split with some kind of change to our points back on the 15th and nothing happened. The login servers were just split up last week and while most people didn't notice there have been some users having issues logging in especially with alt accounts and I've been the one helping those users, we haven't heard anything about new engineers since most of them ended up on the other side of the sale and any updates out of Dave have been specifically about Giantbomb and most of them have no effect here. If nothing is going to change about the site then someone should say that so the users here can be at peace, I know for a fact I'm not the only one worried about the site, the community puts a lot of time and energy into the content on this site and the users deserve to know what is going on and a month and a half with no answers is a long time.
I made a long list of questions back when the sale first happened in a G-Man thread announcing that the sale happened and the questions went unanswered and still sit there now. In that same thread other users posted their own questions and they receive no answers either, if I recall right no questions in that thread with 143 comments were answered.
@pikahyper: We still have access to the distillery platform. That's how we're still operating. Basically all the stuff going on for GB applies to CV. Dave and I talk all the time. Progress is being made. We're not going anywhere.
@G-Man: thanks for that G-Man I appreciate it. I know that the sites still get to use distillery for now, I figured it was worked into the contracts that you could continue using it for a set amount of time while creating a new platform but how long did Braum give you guys? or are you guys like temporarily licensing the platform or something?
I think this may be the first time you've ever replied to me :P
@pikahyper: Here are your answers,
There was a live stream for Premium Members a few weeks ago. Don't like it complain in this thread http://www.giantbomb.com/forums/general-discussion/30/premium-dave-and-alexis-talk-redesign/543152/?page=6
@damswedon: So the gist of that thread and the video is basically that stuff is happening but nothing too specific? If your answers are from that video they sure didn't give much info on stuff that matters to the average user other then the wiki part but even that isn't really an answer just a blanket statement, the same blanket statement that has been used for years now with no follow through :/ Is it really so bad to want some solid answers?
The Court of Owls story arc is amazing. However, if the best thing that can be said about Action Comics is "Grant Morrison is writing Superman!" I'm left a tad skeptical.
Otherwise good video.
@pikahyper: Stuff will change. When exactly? only they know, and that is a guess at most. I'm assuming you've never followed a video game through development, because at some point people who do just realise that until the game has gone gold and is in your hands anything can change. The same goes for websites, comics, films, ect. So don't worry, worst case scenario Comic Vine and go to hell, they get shut down, and you end up having going to CBR or something.
Maaaannnnn, I assumed that the crisis's did happen. If that isn't the case then I want The Question. That's it, that's my one and only request.
@G-Man: Will you be breaking it up on your youtube page or something? If not thats OK, just wondering.
BAHA that was a great video I enjoyed the way it was done. Maybe an Avengers themed discussion/video with Norman would be better then podcast. I like hearing what you all have to say about all the comics. Hope you guys can keep these coming. I'm having to resort to just buying Hardcovers and TPB and dropping my subscriptions for money purposes so all the news and such makes me feel like im keeping up with most of whats going on in comics.
Great segment, G-Man. Re: hints of Dick as Batman. If Batman RIP didn't happen, those hints could be referring to Dick's time as Batman in Batman: Prodigal.
@G-Man I think maybe a move from Twitter and Facebook for these questions to a thread on the forums (kind of like what Rorie and Navarro did with questions for their podcast when that still existed) for future iterations of these videos would be a good idea. That way it's not limited to social media. If there was some kind of regular schedule you wanted to post these videos in (every week or two weeks or whatever) I'd be more than willing to make a new thread for each one so you don't have to.
Also, thinking about Screened made me sad.
Venom isn't gonna be cancelled anytime soon. Secret symbiote event and all that.
Also the sales are too high.
The worst that could happen is Cullen Bunn could take over for the book full time. And I'm told he's awesome, so yeah.
@VioletPhoenix: Seriously type comic book sales figures into google and you'll get a bunch of different sites, I look at those ones, chomichron I usually go to, but I look at others too from time to time. As far as I know they get all their numbers from Diamond, whose website I looked on once, I can't remember what they had their though, but the numbers they put out are a measure of whats sold to stores as opposed to what's being sold in each store if you catch my drift. I don't think theres anywhere that posts digital numbers either which is a bit of a bummer but I'd say they are somewhat consistent with what diamond puts out.
