Are there an infinite amount of universes in DC?

I keep hearing that there are an infinite amount of universes, if so how did the AntiMonitor destroy all but 5 in Crisis on Infinite Earths?

Anti-Monitor destroyed all but 5 of Infinite from the original Pre-Crisis Universe.

The Post-Cisis/New-52 have only 52.

In comics it can happen. Multiverses have been destroyed and re-created.

So then it wouldn't be infinite....how does one almost destroy infinity?

If he destroys wherever the universes spawn from that would do it I guess? Aren't all the universes kept in "the bleed" or something like that? If he ate that it would do the trick.

But you're both right. Its a ridiculously convoluted and flawed concept, I'm glad they got rid of it (for a while at least).
