I think the canon not canon concept is bullshit all story are possibilities and that means its possible and should count if they don't want something to count it should be stated before the argument is presented...
Most of the time it is. Some story-lines straight up aren't part of canon for an obvious reason, e.g. All-Star Superman, The Dark Knight Returns. Others get retconned, like most of the Silver Age.
Since it is released by DC and there is an official story it is canon. Continuity that is another story it depends on the story. However this topic was answered to days ago.
