Are comic readers more closed minded than manga readers?

Ive noticed comic readers on average dislike manga more than manga readers dislike comics. I even see many guys on here go into a thread with manga characters just to say they hate manga or when a manga character is fighting a comic character one of their first post is that they hate manga/anime. Is there a discrepancy between them? What grudge does comic readers have against manga? I can understand disliking anime/manga but to go out of your way to let people know you hate it is shocking.

I can see why you would think that. Comic books have (or rather, used to have) a stronger status quo than manga, so many comic fans are less used to change. Still, it's never a good idea to generalize.

I've noticed this as well.

If anything, I feel like I need more anime/manga in my life.

Maybe it's just because this is a comic book website, might be different on a manga website.

It kind of seems like it but there are a lot of people on this site who are manga/anime fans too so its hard to say.

Ive been on animevice and naruto forum and rarely do the posters there go out of the way to make comments of how they hate comics as much as posters from comic vine do. Not saying they dont but ive rarely seen it but can remember numerous times comic posters have done it.

I think when it's just when it's anime/manga characters are put up against comic book characters in the battle threads. At least that's what i see.

@those_eyes: Hmm, well I wouldn't know. But yh people on here do hate manga, I personally don't like the manga style, and there's only a few animes that I like.

I'm personally not adverse to manga. However, there are very few I like. The DBZ mangas and some of the Gundam stuff. most don't catch my interest. Not to say they aren't good, most just aren't my thing. There's a fan for everything I guess.

Its normally when comic book characters are put against manga/anime characters. Just like how Batman fans hate on Superman on a SvsB and vice versa. I enjoy manga but its not a good idea to put the two in a battle cause nerds will go crazy
