Ok with all the hype around the Winter Soldier these days because of the movie it got me thinking. During the Cold War when the Winter Soldier was wreaking havoc and putting the fear of god in to every Intelligence Agency in the world where was all of the US/SHIELD's super spies? I mean the cold war was a time when every second person you met was a spy so how come there has never been any SHIELD super spies mentioned? I know at that time SHIELD's best agents would be Nick Fury and Jimmy Woo so why didn't they send them to hunt Bucky down? Also isn't it kinda weird that SHIELDS current best agents (Winter Soldier, Black Widow) are both ex-Russian spies?
America Why No Spies?
Wow that's a really good point. Kinda dumb that the best spy's come from Russia becomes Russia was against US in the Cold War...
All the US/SHIELD's spies were busy actually BEING spies, and as such going unnoticed. We never hear about them because if a spy is doing their job right, we aren't supposed to hear about them.
Yea but that doesn't apply to the All-Knowing comic reader

It does when the spies are just that good.

You mean there is a background character that appears in every big event that is really the worlds greatest super spy but we just didn't know it? :O

EXACTLY!
My mind is blown from this. I guess America was too busy focusing on the flashy superheroes while everyone else was focusing on the espionage?
