As the thread title says, just wondering.

If you can, that's fine by me. It's up to you. I actually like two of them. But damn, everything about it irritates me.

I'm up for a discussion with anyone wondering why, juts want to know if anyone relates?

So...you like them, but can't stand them? But anyway, eh ya I like em.

I said two of them.

Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo are the only two I've EVER enjoyed from the ones I've seen or read. I also used to like Rave Master, but not all that much now.

Was hoping for people who didn't like them to come in here, but that's fine.

I don't like it either.

Most superman fans hate em (except me)

I used to until I started looking a little deeper and finding some really great series....like I love Gundam 00 and have watched it 3 times through now...I just finished my second run through of High School of the Dead and I have a few others that I want to watch over again

it is hard for me to find animes that I like since I tend to like the the newer stuff that's being done in the HD and digital design era over the older hand drawn stuff

@russellmania77
Can't blame them. Most anime fans I've come across on here are hard headed as hell when it comes to those characters.

@danhimself
Eh, to each their own. I've tried to look into different ones, but as someone who wants to get into comic writing? All the damn generic easy way out templates that most of them use bugs the hell out of me.

Well, the only anime I watch are Dragon Ball Z and Naruto. They are both freakin awesome!

Strongly. STRONGLY. Disagree with Naruto, but we'll leave that alone. Everyone is entilted to like what they like, I suppose.

I don't like them because they are weird, although there was one I saw long ago with a chick that had a bass guitar which I kinda enjoyed.

#12 Posted by Wolverine08 (42287 posts) - - Show Bio

@sideburnguru: To be honest I love Dragon Ball Z, but I basically only like a few characters in Naruto not really the whole anime. I really don't like Naruto because he just seems to be a blonde knock off of Goku.

@tacos_kickass: Oh, Fooly Cooly? Yeah. It's nice. I didn't really get too much into it, but it was nice.

@wolverine08
Pretty much. Naruto is Mary Sue to me.

#14 Posted by Wolverine08 (42287 posts) - - Show Bio

@sideburnguru: I really don't get into most anime though because the lead character is a Goku knockoff. Gingka from Beyblade is a SERIOUS offender. He walks, talks, and acts completely like Goku he just has red hair.

@wolverine08: Yeeeeep.

Pretty much nailing one of my reasons.

@sideburnguru:

It's really only shonen anime that have lead characters who are Goku knock offs. If you can get out of shonen, you can find diverse characters.

@sideburnguru: yeah but also they can be hard headed, since power scaling can be much different

@russellmania77: It goes both ways.

@wolverine08 I mean, I like Avatar. Don't know if that counts as anime though. Last Airbender and Korra.

@wolverine08: Ichigo doesn't seem to be much of a Goku knockoff. And the author of One Piece was heavily inspired by Akira Toriyama. But yeah, Naruto definitely is. Even one of the characters is named Goku.

@sideburnguru:

Yea, Avatar The Last Airbender and the Legend of Korra are anime with American elements. Both are awesome and idiosyncratic!

@sideburnguru: nah it's much simpler for comics, they do it and it means they can do it, also they always put how fast and how much weight they can hold (ex. Someone going the speed of light n someon lifting a quintillion lbc) in anime they don't do that they just say "incredible he's speed and strength have doubled"

#29 Posted by Wolverine08 (42287 posts) - - Show Bio

@limpoyzloan:

I think the problem is that Dragon Ball Z was so momentous to shonen anime, writers have been copying Goku, and almost none of the main characters are unique.

The art style and the voices they get.......good god I can't deal with that.

#31 Posted by LimpoyzLoan (1646 posts) - - Show Bio

To me, it depends on the genre. I think part of the reason that society views anime as stupid is because of how much Harem (A type of sub genre in which a bunch of girls surround a guy and runs into many awkward sexual situations; for example Rosario x Vampire) and fan service is around now. Now it's like boob shots and panty shots in almost EVERY new anime and manga now, even those that are action based, and don't forget those stupid high school anime and manga -_-

But once in awhile, you find a special kind of crown jewel that separates from it, so I keep my hopes up.

Amen.

@russellmania77
I see that! I definitely see that alot.

#33 Posted by LimpoyzLoan (1646 posts) - - Show Bio

@pokeysteve: You obviously haven't watched Cowboy Bebop.

#34 Posted by GraniteSoldier (7818 posts) - - Show Bio

I like Dragon Ball Z, Cowboy Bebop, and Gundam Wing. Otherwise not so much. Many of them are very strange to me, and its like watching HBO. Random naked women for no reason. And cartoon naked women at that!

#35 Posted by russellmania77 (15373 posts) - - Show Bio

@sideburnguru: well anyways you might just only hate shonen anime, try yaoi anime (I personally don't like XD)
