Am I the only one still blowed away at the Sony/Marvel deal?

Man I've been on cloud 9 ever since it was confirmed. Hit the beer store day of and been drunk ever since. I'm just to happy.

Everyone I've told jaw has literally hit the floor every time. Am I dreaming? Some people on CV and CBM still make comments like "wait till its confirmed. And than we'll talk" still....STILL! Its been confirmed for days now and some still cant except it. I just checked Marvel official web site again, again, and its right there. man I just...I....I....*Flat-line hum*

It's like a dream come true.

To be honest it was just a matter of time before it was officially announced. We all knew it was bound to happen so I wasn't really surprised.

Too many versions of spiderman in too short a time. It is actually kind of annoying, but hopefully the MCU spiderman will be good.

@spidey_jackson: I don't think this is a bad thing - but there is plenty that could go wrong so I'm cautiously optimistic about everything. It's a bit underwhelming that they're pushing back release dates on a lot of their other movies just to cram a Spider-Man movie into their schedual and reboot the franchise for the 3rd time in thirteen years.

...plus I'm going to miss Andrew Garfield.

Wasn't Sony getting to keep Creative Control? And weren't they actually keeping the character? Just loaning him out to Marvel on occasion in exchange for help/name recognition from Marvel on the back end?

In all honesty, for all that Sony had planned, I think it seems like a waste to throw all that away. Then again, Hollywood is not a place filled with brainiacs...

I don't think its completely gone. Its kinda of a soft-reboot like they did with the Hulk film. TASMverse is technically apart of the MCU now if I understand it right. Puttin the total now to 12 films at the moment.

Amazing Spider-Man 1/2 was soooooo meh.

So I am still confused. Does Sony still own Spiderman and this is a collaborative effort or did Marvel buy Spiderman from Sony? Also was it just Spiderman or the Spiderman Universe (Venom, Norman Osborn, etc.) and it is confirmed that Garfield is no longer Spiderman?

Technically yes. But this is a complete merger. ALL characters can be used both ways. Look at it this way Spiderman is completely apart of the MCU just two studios profit much greater now.

Confirmed that they are recasting Spider-Man.

Rumored that Sony is already considering how to best use their new found access to Marvel's larger universe (Cloak & Dagger? Cap cameo & war bonds? Using the 'Super Soldier Project' arc from Ultimate in his creation... which would tie in nicely to the next Cap movie.)

Nope. I blowed every day nearly.

I'll wait to see the results before lauding it.

I don't really care who has him, so long as he's done right.

There's a huge chance that this will be great, but there's also a chance that it may bomb. I think it would be wiser to see what they come up with and praising that work on its own merit.

I'm hoping it does well enough that we can get a Carol Danvers / Rogue story done. (And Super Skrull and Doom opened up for Avengers.)
