Almost 7 years since Heath Ledger died...

Less than a week from today and it marks the 7th anniversary of his unfortunate death. Despite his performance as The Joker being more than half a decade old, and by the time Dawn of Justice is released, nearly a full decade old, it's held up fantastically well as a riveting and engrossing performance.

Damn. Doesn't feel like it's nearly been 7 years.....

Has it been that long? Damn.

I still remember where I was when I found out that he died, I was in H.S. and it was the end of the last class I had for the day and the teacher had the news on his computer on. Just before the bell rang, I heard the breaking news that Heath Ledger died then the bell rang, and I spent the rest of my drive home processing what the hell I just heard because that really was one of the first times that I can remember a celebrity that I heard of and followed, die well before they were supposed to.

It is sad still and it does show some of the dangers of method acting.

On another note, I still have a hard time putting the Joker that I saw in TDK as Heath Ledger and that's a testament to his performance.

His performance was the stuff of legends, but I'm still glad DC has decided to move on with Suicide Squad

He was this actor who at his worst had better acting chops than Henry Cavill.

I too remember when he died, quite vividly. Indeed, his performance was deserving of the Oscar.

I overhear some people say his performance was overrated because he died but when you see it... It's just ineffable, he was truly great as Joker.

I won't deny that it was a great performance, but I always wonder just how much of the movie's success had to do with his death.

@xwraith: I won't lie and say it didn't affect the film, if anything Heath Ledger's death attracted more people to see his final performance. Which was amazing, btw.

He did more then act in one movie, he did more then just act. He was a husband,father, brother and son. Fanboys may lost Joker. But other people lost something much much more important

The movie is overrated. Even though its awesome. His death adds to the overrated-ness.

@allstarsuperman: I agree though I think its mainly due to it being too long and the part from where the boat drama starts till the Joker is caught was way too drawn out and just didn't feel like a worthy climax to the movie imo.

Heath Ledger's death did not add his performance, it added to the hype and marketing. If so then I would have expected more buzz and Oscar-awards for his last film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
