    The Blacklight Virus.

    The Blacklight virus, dubbed now as the Mercer Virus by the general public, is an evolutionary chimeric mutation-causing infectious agent that can reproduce only inside the living cells of other biological organisms. It was extracted and synthesized byGentek, using a sample of Elizabeth Greene's blood, which had been infected with the Redlight virus years previously.

    EFFECTS

    After infection, the virus "plugs in" and activates the 'junk' DNA in its victim, resulting in several biological changes that create (and recreate) sentience within the infected creature's cellular makeup. It acts by affecting the protein encoding regions of the promoter introns in each cell. As a retrovirus, it contains both RNA and the reverse transcriptase enzyme, allowing it to insert its own genetic codes into the host's cells. It enters, re-purposes and changes the cell, replicating previously dormant non-coding segments of the organism's DNA.

    More often than not, these changes are too drastic and 99.99% of all infected organisms die from massive organ failure and cell saturation. However, few variants have yielded other beneficial results, endowing the infected organisms with incredible superhuman genetic prowess that greatly increase their natural abilities to levels far exceeding human capability; these variants include DX-1120 and DX-1118 C

    INFECTION

    The virus is highly contagious and can infect organisms through a multitude of means:

    • Physical Contact: If a non-infected person is bitten or scratched by an Infected person, or aHunter, the virus can spread directly to the victim resulting in their infection.
    • Exposure: Coming into contact with an Infected Water Tower, or a Hive can result in the infectious agents spreading to nearby humans.
    • Bodily Fluid Contact: Infectious bodily fluids and materials are capable of infection through open wounds.
    • Injection: As demonstrated by the Project D-Code soldiers, the virus can be spread through direct application via injection.
    • As stated in the Web Of Intrigue, the virus changes on a rapid scale, changing and evolving into something else.

    Variants

    A group of scientists led by Dr. Alex Mercer managed to synthesize a new virus strain which they named 'Blacklight'. They were trying to use it to cure global diseases such as cancer (unbeknowest of the real goal, to engineer a new version of the Redlight virus that could copy and combine genetic traits to re-write living creatures). The scientists soon became suspicious, noting that a large portion of virus variants had deadly effects on the test animals.

    The Blacklight virus' effects are variable and far more infectious than the Redlight strain. The Blacklight virus outbreak does not follow the pattern of the Hope outbreak: it causes too many infections, spreads over too wide an area, and leaves very few 'clean' entities. The mortality rate of the Blacklight virus is lower than that of the Redlight virus, and the incubation period of it is much longer. The full capabilities of the Blacklight virus were unknown, even to the scientists who synthesized it.

    Now The fun Begins

    Powers and Abilities....

    Once reanimated by the Blacklight virus, every particle of Mercer's form, including his clothing and equipment, becomes comprised entirely of viral biomass. This substance can be manipulated at will. He can absorb the organic matter of other living creatures, converting it into more biomass. He seems to be also capable of absorbing non living matter and synthetic suits from his victims and can actually use them. This process sustains and regenerates Mercer's body and is referred to as 'consuming'. In addition, Mercer can consume individuals, absorbing their knowledge, skills, and even their physical form, DNA and their abilities which he can call upon at will. He can manipulate his physical form to create weapons to attack his enemies, generate armor to defend himself, and take on the appearance of another person to disguise himself. During his battle against James Heller, he displayed the ability to consume multiple of his Evolved soldiers at the same time in order to power up his abilities.

    PHYSICAL POWERS.

    • Shapeshifting: Mercer's Blacklight infection has granted him the ability to both shapeshift and fashion his body into weapons. An example this would be his Blade resembling a giant sharp blade and his viral flesh possessing a yellow/reddish hue. His Whipfist has small razor-like blades across its spine-like form. Alex's evolved Hammerfists allow him to perform area attacks. He possesses consumption/assimilation abilities inherent in all infected creatures that allow him to take on the form and memories of any creature he consumes.
    • Superhuman Strength: His incredible strength allows him to lift cars, trucks, tanks, APCs, and helicopters and throw them great distances. He is far stronger than any normal human or most basic Infected, able to kill a regular human with a single, effortless slap and manhandle the infectious residents of Manhattan. Mercer is capable of punching holes through almost anything if necessary, including a two foot steel doors.
    • Superhuman Speed: Mercer's speed is likewise enhanced. He can achieve running speeds surpassing any vehicles. Even reaching Mach 1, causing a Sonic boom.
    • Superhuman Agility: He can perform amazing parkour feats such as flips and rolls and maneuvers over and around vehicles and debris with little trouble. His leg strength allows him to leap nearly ten stories into the air. Mercer can run up sheer vertical surfaces and cling to walls for an indefinite period of time. Mercer is also capable of gliding, by ejecting small amounts of mass for further propulsion.
    • Superhuman Endurance: Mercer's endurance far exceeds that of a human's by leaps and bounds. His body no longer possesses weak bones or vital organs, rendering him immune to otherwise debilitating injury. This biological change allows him to survive falls from any height completely unharmed. Bullets of any caliber will pass through his body,or will stop at impact causing very little to no damage that heals instantly. He can withstand direct hits from rockets, hellfire missiles and tank shells, which cause only small amounts of damage. The super humanly strong blows of the various type of Hunters and super soldiers cause the most damage of any type of attack. His superhuman stamina allows him to be physically active at all times without tire.
    • Healing Factor: Mercer's body has vast powers of self-regeneration. So long as he is properly nourished, Mercer can restore his biomass and heal any wounds within mere seconds. He can from minor injuries without consuming any creature. Examples include regenerating bullet wounds instantly after being shot, regenerating a massive hole in his face after being shot point-blank by General Randall, and slowly reconstructing his entire physical form from non-decript piles of biomass, he then regenerated within moments after a crow had landed next to him, and he proceeded to consume it.He regenerate all of his biomass within moments of being blown apart by a nuclear explosion. Mercer also seems to have a robust immune system. Though unable to counter a parasite which had been introduced into his body without outside help, he gained a growing immunity to bloodtox with repeat exposure.
    • Superhuman Senses: Mercer's vision and hearing is enhanced, allowing him to see beyond the visible spectrum and hear across great distances even with physical insulation. He has thermal vision which allows him to locate heat signatures, and infected vision which can detect large concentrations of the virus and tap into the hive mind itself and see beyond the visual spectrum with Hunting.

    Warp Vortex: Throw or kick an object and it causes a vortex of energy to pick up all light objects and enemies nearby.

    • Anti Gravity Field: Anything Mercer comes into contact with instantly loses its gravitational hold to the earth, including people.
    • Medusa's Wrath: A force multiplier which grants the player "eyeball lasers" capable of killing humans instantly and leaving stronger enemies like Brawlers ready to consume. It can even cause a Goliath to go into a consume state without having to cut off its limbs.
    • Air Time: Infinite gliding, never touch the ground again. Basically flight.
    • Shockwave: A force multiplier which causes a shock-wave in a small area when Mercer performs a charged jump.

    Offensive Powers

    Mercer can form his biomass into a variety of weapons, mostly slicing or crushing tools. In combat, he either uses biomass to create various blades and clubs.

    Claws

    Claws are the primary anti-personnel and an offensive ability evolved within Alex Mercer. Mercer was able to unlock this ability after consuming a hunter.

    When activated, the biomass of the arms shifts into three-fingered, one-thumbed talon-like appendages that can used to effortlessly shred flesh and bone, allowing dismemberment of human-sized enemies with ease.

    Dashing Slice
    Dashing Slice

    Dashing slice is a movement upgrade to the Claws. It is the most powerful slashing-type of attack available from the Claws. Since it is performed while sprinting, charging the attack automatically slides the Prototypes towards the target before delivering the slash. This helps in rapidly closing the distance to the target and can automatically stop to perform a Groundspike attack easier.

    GROUNDSPIKE
    GROUNDSPIKE

    Groundspike is an upgrade and an extension to the Claws. It is highly effective for short or longer-ranged area attack. The biomass from the Claws are channeled into the ground to erupt and impale a targeted enemy or a tight group of enemies. This power can be upgraded to cause maximum damage and area effect. This ability is useful for destroying infected water towers with one strike.

    Claw Pounce is a charged attack, in which Mercer will start by extending his Claws like he is about to pounce like a real Jungle Cat, next he will enhance his leap with his biological cells similar to his glide power and slash at the target.

    TACTICAL OVERVIEW

    The Claws are best put to use as an anti-personnel weapon; their speed allows to shred through large groups of infected and humans in seconds. When upgraded with the Groundspike ability, damage can be caused to distant enemies by clawing the ground and causing massive spikes of Biomass to erupt beneath the target, impaling everything within its proximity. This ability is particularly useful to deal with armored vehicles, and even some larger infected enemies.

    Although the Claws have their advantages, basic attacks are ineffective against armor, D-Code soldiers, and larger infected. In close combat, the damage dealt against them is very low when compared to the Groundspike attack. Unless attacking a lone target, the Groundspike ability forces Alex Mercer to remain stationary for the duration of the attack. This results in a moment of vulnerability allowing enemies to attack him.

    Whipfist

    The Whipfist is one of many abilities the Prototypes have at their disposal. It consists of an extendable, elongated appendage with a blade at the end. Given its unique status as a ranged attack, the Whipfist is usually the weapon of choice when opposed by the recurring Helicopters or distant enemies.

    The street sweeper ability helps in dismembering multiple foes surrounding a Prototype with an eccentric 360-degree swath. This ability is highly effective against infected citizens, Walkersand military personnel. Larger enemies can also sustain multiple hits of the Whipfist if they are within an arm's reach. Charging this attack to its maximum will increase the sweep radius and damage. This upgrade is immediately available to Mercer once he acquires the Whipfist, while Heller automatically has this ability as his basic attack.

    LongShot Grab
    LongShot Grab
    The Longshot grab ability is used to apprehend a distant enemy due to its extensive range. Larger foes will not be reeled in towards the Prototype, rather the Prototype will pull himself towards the target. This ability can also be used to hijack Helicopters easily or "fish out" a specific target for consumption. It also has the benefit of being able to be executed while airborne.

    TACTICAL OVERVIEW

    The Whipfist is the longest range ground attack apart from the firearms. However, it does not inflict high damage against toughened enemies unless attacked multiple times. Whipfist can be used effectively against human-class targets such as the infected civilians, evolved infected, or normal military personnel. The Whipfist can also be used to destroy UAVs easily beyond their detection radius as well as the Viral Detectors and sentry guns. Charging any Whipfist ability in general will extend its effective range in addition to increased damage.

    This power is useful when dealing with multiple weak enemies (humans, infected humans, etc.) in large groups. It might also be considered an anti-infantry ability.

    Blade

    The Blade is an offensive power employed by Alex Mercer. Mercer gained this ability along with the armor power, once the parasite was removed from his body,

    When Mercer activate this ability, an elongated double ended blade forms from the base of the right elbow, turning hid arm into a giant razor-sharp cutting weapon.

    The Blade is extremely effective in close contact, and although the area of effect is very localized, the blade's basic attacks dish out higher damage than those from any of the other powers. While this power may be utilized against basic infantry units, its true destructive capability is in attacking vehicles and large infected creatures such as hunters or brawlers.

    Air Slice
    Air Slice

    Alex Mercer can perform many moves by upgrading this ability. As he mutates his ability, the attacks, damage dealt and the appearance of his blade change with each level.

    • Blade Air Slice: An aerial drop attack, Alex falls with a bit of a spin to enhance the slicing capabilities of the Blade. This ability can destroy any non-boss (or building) unit in at most two direct hits. It is the most powerful single strike available from the Blade.
    • Blade Frenzy: Mercer lashes forward, unleashing a series of slashing attacks from a standing position, slicing while running for a few steps. Can be manually interrupted by a Diveroll.
    • Blade Sprint Frenzy: An upgraded alternative to Blade Frenzy which allows Mercer to perform the same attack as Blade Frenzy but while sprinting. The slashes from Blade Sprint Frenzy deal slightly higher damage than slashes from a Blade Frenzy. It can cut through crowds of human-class enemies at a very high speed, but it cannot be interrupted manually.
    • Blade Tornado: Mercer spins with his Blade arm fully extended, creating a radius of cutting that slices anything in the way of his path as he rotates towards a given direction. Alex can also leap towards a target while in mid-air, cutting anything in his trajectory with the Blade. Note that doing a Blade Air Slice, as well as a Blade Tornado will automatically take away one arm from a healthy Brawler without any stunning or trapping with Tendril.

    TACTICAL OVERVIEW

    The Blade is a close combat power and is capable of dealing large amounts of damage to heavy targets. Although it doesn't quite match the Claws in terms of raw speed, the Blade's attacks are still fairly quick and they deal more damage than any other power. Even the Hammerfists cannot match the Blade's damage potential against a single target.

    A completely charged Air Slice attack causes very heavy damage and is an efficient means of dealing with toughened enemies. However the attack can be difficult to execute effectively. The Air Slice involves dropping on top of an intended target, therefore its tracking capability is highly dependent on the starting altitude when executing the attack. This makes it difficult to perform against helicopters, since they can sometimes out maneuver Mercer.

    Blade Frenzy moves allow for a quick series of strikes to rapidly finish off a large foe, or simply dash through enemies, dealing massive damage to anything the Blade touches while evading the short but deadly reaches of certain opponents.

    Tendrils

    The Tendrils was thought to be an ability unique to James Heller, replacing the Musclemass ability developed by Alex Mercer. But this was common Misconception. Mercer does indeed poses the Tendrils. As he demonstrated in his Final Boss Battle when he consumed all of his evolved at once. And when he used it to wear down Heller.

    The Tendrils unleashed by Heller and Mercer, are capable of lifting and tearing apart cars and military vehicles, ensnaring powerful infected beasts, and even ripping large groups of enemies to shreds.

    TENDRIL BLACK HOLE

    In-Game icon.The Tendril Black Hole is a charged attack by which Heller shifts his mass onto a target within range, causing secondary tendrils to emerge from the epicenter and grab hold onto nearby objects. The Tendrils then quickly retract with said objects to smash into the target, causing significant damage towards even armored vehicles and helicopters. Lesser enemies like humans and infected rabble will be turned to mush. This ability can be executed even while airborne.Using the airborne Black Hole followed by a Hammerfist dive attack is very useful against tanks and some infected creatures (brawlers, juggernauts in some cases, etc.)The Tendrils are also a great defensive upgrade as they can be used to temporarily immobilize large enemies, like Brawlers and Juggernauts, which allows for dismemberment of their body parts and slowing them down.

    TACTICAL OVERVIEW

    The Tendrils power consists of two moves. One consists of Heller stringing together objects around him along with human-class enemies, using his biomass. They are immediately killed upon impact, with their corpses mutilated and torn apart while being held by the tendril mass that stick to the surroundings. Larger infected creatures are temporarily immobilized, giving Heller the option to strike a paralyzing blow, such as severing an arm with the Claws/Blade/Whipfist or executing a Dirt Nap, reminiscent of the unarmed consumption move from Prototype.

    The second, more devastating move is the TendrilBlack Hole, in which Helle and Mercer are capable of attaching Tendrils to a target, then sending out more Tendrils to pull objects around him towards his target, resulting in a devastating type explosion. That can also damage and even pull in other human-sized enemies.

    Musclemass

    The Musclemass power is an ability used exclusively by Alex Mercer in Prototype. While active, it boosts Alex's strength to immense proportions, increasing the damage done by melee attacks and thrown objects.

    STRENGTHS

    Musclemass increases Alex's melee damage twofold and increases the speed at which he strikes. At its base level, a charged attack will turn any human enemy it strikes into bloody chunks; once upgraded, even a glancing blow will cause this. Objects thrown with Musclemass will hit harder, fly further, and move faster than objects thrown at Alex's normal strength; upgrades will augment the speed and distance. Though the game does not explicitly state it, all of Alex's Combat abilities, save for the Devastators, will be enhanced by Musclemass. This fact of Musclemass makes it one of the most damaging powers in the game if used with the right abilities.

    Musclemass is most effective when used on living targets; vehicles are resistant, unless used in conjunction with the Cannonball attack or Bullet Dive Drop. The various shockwave abilities can clear entire crowds in close proximity. Thrown enemies/objects will also hit much more accurately thanks to the speed increase.

    Though Musclemass enhances the power of all combat class abilities, a few in particular benefit greatly from it. The Cannonball attack, augmented by Musclemass, can destroy a helicopter on any difficultly level with a charged attack. The Uppercut and its various add-on combo abilities also become extremely deadly, enough to reduce a Hunter to its recovery state with a single combo on Hard. Even the simple Air Kick can bring down a Helicopter in two hits, and will carry Alex much further than it normally does. Musclemass also has the power to greatly increase the damage of the Bullet Dive Drop. Executed correctly, this can be used to destroy multiple tanks simultaneously, without actually getting an exact hit on any of them, so long as they are in close proximity. It can also be used to destroy military bases or Hives with little to no concern for retaliation, save for Helicopters. Even the knocking damage from sprinting with a Shield or Armor power is enhanced, as well as other miscellaneous damaging acts, such as denting objects during parkour or even creating shockwaves from high falls.

    Tactical Overview

    Even though Musclemass is rendered obsolete by most of Alex's powers. It's attack speed and versatility gives it an edge in close quarters combat.

    Hammerfists

    The Hammerfists are the Prototypes' anti-vehicle ability. By shifting large amounts of biomass into his fists, Alex Mercer was able to create massive, hammer-like hands to crush his enemies with.

    HAMMERFIST ELBOW SLAM

    Hammerfist Elbow Slam is the second upgrade of Hammerfist. It is essentially the normal elbow slam maneuver with the upside of increased damage and area of effect, as well as not requiring the running up of a wall to execute. Like the Hammerfist Smackdown, this move can help in destroying armored vehicles and Hunters. In order to use this power, the Prototypes will have to gain some altitude, before dropping down on an enemy with a deadly force. The higher the altitude and attack charge, the more damaging the attack.

    HAMMERTOSS

    Hammertoss is the final upgrade for the Hammerfist. This upgrade helps to deal with airborne enemies, like the Gunships and UAVs to a limited extent. It is also a handy way to toss Mercer over obstacles and clear out his landing area of any minor enemies.

    HAMMERFIST SMACKDOWN

    Hammerfist Smackdown, the first upgrade for the Hammerfists, is a slow but highly damaging slam attack. Capable of destroying early armored vehicles with a single direct hit, but at the cost of attack speed. While charging the power, Mercer is susceptible to being interrupted by attacks. Otherwise, a fully charged attack has the effect of delivering two shocks upon anything within range.

    Strengths

    The Hammerfists are quite capable in anti-vehicle combat, as repeated strikes will lift APCs and tanks off the ground, preventing them from retreating. They are also quite useful against Hunters,especially Leader Hunters who will be stunned by the heavy strikes. Even Super Soldiers will quickly enter their blocking stance after sustaining a couple of shockwaves, which Alex can exploit to a grappling advantage.[great against super soilder and brawlers

    In close proximity, it can be used to clear large groups of human enemies quickly. If Alex charges up his punch, he can knock one enemy horizontally into another, instantaneously killing both enemies. He can also use a four strike combo that shatters the street and creates a shockwave dealing heavy damage to everything nearby.

    Weaknesses

    The Hammerfists lack attack speed and is slower than any of his other abilities. Unless Alex strikes point-blank, enemies are liable to move out of range or retaliate before he can get a hit in. Armor, especially when moving, can be difficult to hit unless Alex gets in their path.

    Though powerful, the Hammerfists are quickly eclipsed by Alex's other offensive powers in terms of damage over time. Though the Claws are weaker in most respects, Musclemass, the Blade, and even the Whipfist do more damage over longer periods thanks to their greater attack speed. Musclemass, used in conjunction with Alex's various combat moves, will do far more damage over time than the Hammerfists, with the added versatility of enhancing his throwing power.

    Deffensive Powers

    Mercer can use two defensive powers, guarding him against enemy attacks and weapons. Mercer has two forms of defense, the Armor, and the Shield.

    Armor

    The Armor is the second defensive power of Alex Mercer. While in this form, he takes less damage, but the added density results in loss of movement speed and overall agility.

    The Armor and Blade powers are unlocked after a few missions with Dr. Bradley Ragland, who helped Alex remove a debilitating parasitic organism in Alex's back. Doing so allowed Alex to gain said powers.

    The Armor provides an alternative to the Shield. Unlike the Shield, which completely negates frontal damage at the cost of having a temporarily finite ability to absorb punishment, the Armor significantly reduces all-round damage taken by Alex without losing effectiveness.

    It's ideal for close quarters combat, allowing Alex to go toe to toe with the strongest foes without succumbing to large amounts of damage. Conversely, running from a fight is somewhat more difficult, and Alex's ability to dodge attacks is hampered.

    Armor disables the ability to Glide and diveroll. When sprinting, parkour stunts over many objects are disabled; though they can still climb buildings, while sprinting, they will smash through anything in their path, be it cars, humans (Infected or otherwise), or other destructible obstacles.

    Larger objects, like tanks and heavier barriers, will block his path. In addition, Alex will crush any human enemy he jumps on while the Armor is active, as if they were hit by Musclemass. It is automatically unlocked, along with the Blade, once the parasite is cured.

    Strengths and Benefits

    The Armor is a very effective defensive ability against fighting more powerful enemies because of the large amount of biomass that fully surrounds Alex's body and never breaking and regenerating. Though it does not completely absorb damage like the shield does, instead, it simply reduces it to a a very small fraction of the damage that Alex would normally experience without it. While the armor is in use, Alex can almost effortlessly clear a path and power through most enemies and vehicles whenever and wherever he is sprinting. Unfortunately, Alex also cannot glide or perform any parkour maneuvers while the armor is active. However, he can still use his diveroll, airdash and air recovery moves like he would normally.

    Weaknesses

    The Armor's main drawback is its massive decrease in overall mobility. Mercer's natural movement speed and jump height are both reduced while it is active, making it far more difficult to escape enemies than when it is not. The armor even takes away Mercer's glide abilities, which makes dodging military rockets and parkouring over buildings much harder than normal.

    Agile Armor

    As the name implies this an armored form for Alex Mercer, in the difference is that Mercer has increased speed and still retains his agility. While giving Alex a fair amount of protection.

    Though this was only a cosmetic skin available for Prototype 2 it can be assumed that this armor should function this way. As the name says it.

    Shield

    The Shield is one of the defensive powers developed by Alex Mercer and James Heller. Unlike the Armor, Shield completely nullifies damage instead of merely reducing it, though only against projectile attacks directed to the front.

    When using the Shield Power, a large amount of biomass is shifted to the left arm, molding it into a nigh-impenetrable black-biomass shield. It is normally not seen while Alex is standing still, and only as a mass on his shoulder, but is clearly shown when he is sprinting, targeting, or other more active moves. Unlike the Armor, mobility is not hindered when the Shield is active.

    Effectiveness

    The Shield blocks all incoming frontal projectile fire, or all-round melee attacks, until its damage threshold is reached, at which point it will shatter and require time to regenerate before it can be deployed again. It regenerates and becomes available again automatically in less than a second.

    Diverolls will still be accessible and Alex will not be slowed by its presence. When sprinting with the Shield active, it is be deployed in front of Alex as a battering ram to push away cars and human-sized enemies, killing the latter instantly in most cases. Although larger enemies, such as Hunters or Armored Vehicles, will only be staggered by it.. It can withstand rifle fire almost indefinitely and block grenades,missiles,ect... It can stand up to a few hits from Hunters and Brawlers and D-Codes, though larger enemies like Bosses,Juggernauts,Goliath ect.. can brake the shield.     Since the Shield is a defensive power, Alex may use it in conjunction with an offensive power to attack his enemies while staying protected, as the shield only comes into view in the case of running or being attacked. When hit by bullets, the Shield will deflect them randomly. In this manner, an entire squad of soldiers can be killed without any effort. Simply standing still will automatically manifest the shield and deflect their fire.

    However, Mercer is capable of directing enemy projectiles against them. This includes missiles launched by strike teams or soldiers, which are able to be deflected towards a particular target. Alex can manifest spiked shields on both arms if necessary. This has the benefit of causing damage to enemies in melee range when a blocking move is timed correctly, in addition to the basic effect of stunning them.

    Critical Mass

    Critical Mass is the excess amount of retained health, which can be used to create devastating area attacks. Damage dealt by enemies will first deplete the excess health before usual health of Alex Mercer.

    CRITICAL MASS ABILITY

    A core upgrade to the health meter, this ability helps in resisting attack damage and perform devastator attacks. it can be upgraded to increase the amount of biomass stored.

    This form acts more of a stats boost. Mercer can energize his entire body and put it on overdrive. Increasing his power immensely by channeling all his biomass reserves to his entire physical body.

    During her final conflict with Alex, Greene surrounded herself with vast amounts of biomass, forming a large worm-like creature with three large tentacles protecting its core. This form adopted by Greene, dubbed "Mother," had potent defensive abilities and claimed many lives during the battle. And Alex consumed her. And he gained all of her powers. So that means that he can do this as well.

    Increased Strength: He can smash tanks to pieces in a second, and she/he can utilize her/his tentacles as anti-aircraft weapons by throwing 70 ton tanks at aircraft accurately enough and far enough to take them out. This raw strength even exceeds that of Alex Mercer.

    Increased Toughness: His body can take enormous amounts of damage as 120mm tank rounds, anti-tank missiles, even MLRS battery fire barely gives her/him any damage. The soldiers fighting Greene in the final fight even request bunker busting munitions to deal with her in this form, and they weren't doing anything.

    Energy Generation: In this form Alex can somehow generate numerous salvos of homing green orbs from their body that seek out enemies and explode like a bomb sort of like homing missiles except more precise.

    Detonation Schockwave: He also has the ability to generate a shockwave on demand so powerful that it can kill everyone in Times Square including tanks, helicopters flying overhead, infected, hunters, leaders hunters. Except Alex who tanks it, but with high damage.

    Telekinesis?: Somehow during your final fight with her in Prototype she had the ability to quickly suck up hundreds of truck sized boulders and launch them out at you at a very high velocity capable of taking out helicopters even at their flight ceiling in game.

    Disguise Powers

    Disguise is a defensive ability of the Prototypes. This ability allows them to "disguise" themselves as the last human target they have consumed. This ability allows a Prototype to alter their exterior to resemble the consumed, also gaining their memories and abilities.

    Due to game mechanics transformations can only be achieved with human targets, non-human targets like the Infected or the Hunter class targets only provide additional health.

    Consume

    Consuming is the Prototype's primary means of restoring lost Biomass, as they only slowly regenerate with low amounts of Biomass. Most enemies, as long as they are at or near human-sized, can be consumed without effort. The amount of biomass restored is dependent on the size and type of enemy being consumed. Human-sized enemies can be consumed instantly, while larger ones such as Hunters must be weakened before they can be consumed. Though in Prototype 2 Mercer has showcased that he can consume several high class enemies without having to wear them down.

    When consuming a living, non-infected, human, the Prototypes can take on their form, allowing them to disguise themselves as that person. They gain the consumed individual's appearance and can imitate their voice at will. This allows them to quickly switch between their default form and the form of another to evade the military or move about as one of them. However while they can use a person's form after consuming a different one later they rarely do so; In addition to absorbing biomass and physical attributes, Alex can absorb the memories,skills and abilities of the people they consume. These memories helped Alex to figure out who he is, what the military is planning, and the truth about a past viral outbreak in Hope, Idaho.

    Using consume is the only way Alex can get into military bases, obtain memories, and gain access to new codes to order artillery strikes in the case of Alex.

    CONSUME TYPES

    STRAIGHT CONSUME

    Performed on large but already weakened enemies, such as Super soldiers and any infected other than Walkers. A symbol of use key will appear above the targets' head when they are weakened enough, tapping the use key to grab them will enter the consuming move, which Prototype quickly and brutally kill the victim and consume them. It isn't really necessary to kill the Victim to consume it. It's a common misconception by people who have not read the comic. Mercer can consume Human sized enimies with a mere touch from his finger instantaneosly.

    GRAB AND CONSUME

    Performed on human-sized enemies, players first grab the victim with the use key, then tap the consume key to quickly do a fatal attack on the victim and consume them. This is the only way when Patsy, BioBomb, or pushing to disrupt enemy guarding pattern doesn't work, and is often used when wanted to start a fight deliberately or to avoid the trouble of finding a gap for stealth consuming.

    The consuming animation will differ by the active weapon.

    MULTI CONSUME

    As the name suggests, it allows Alex to consume multiple targets at once by spreading his tentacles outwards and constricting multiple victims and then absorb them all simultaneously.

    STEALTH CONSUME

    Stealth Consume, as the name suggests, allows Alex to consume a target without alerting others. It can only be performed when the military cannot see Alex and James and only works on regular humans. When performed, Alex or James will quietly kill their target and absorb them in mere moments, instantly taking on their form. Alex or James will also instantly drop their own weapon if they are holding one, and take the targets' weapon when they are holding one.

    BioBomb

    Biobomb is an organic explosive, implanted under the skin of the victim. After a brief period of time, tentacles force themselves from the infected subject, at a high velocity, similar to the tendril barrage devastator. These tendrils pull anything they touch in towards their epicenter, this being the person originally implanted with the Biobomb, the effect being similar to the black hole attack of the Tendrils. The Biobomb will always kill its host except if the host is an evolved like James Heller. It will deal heavy damage to those who either being pulled by tendrils, or unlucky enough to be near its explosion center.

    There are two ways to use Biobomb. Mercer can grab a humanoid target such as soldiers, scientist,civilians, or walkers, implant the Biobomb, then proceed to throw or kick the victim at a specific point. Acting as a sort of "Bio-grenade", the target "detonates" resulting in the deaths and incapacitation of any near-by enemies. Another way is stealth Biobombing. The target will first scream in pain, effectively drawing attention of any nearby human; then detonate, creating a big mess that occupies nearby military units for long. None of the explosion will damage Mercer himself, regardless of how close he is to the center.

    The Biobomb can also be performed on Super humans as well. As long as Alex can get a piece of the virus into the them.

    All the people he consumes are added up to his DNA. And their memories go into the Web of intrigue.

    The Web of Intrigue is a collection of memories Alex Mercer had collected from those he has consumed. He was able to review these memories whenever he wanted. Mercer had a total of 131 memories of individuals which he considered important and could be played during Gameplay. While Mercer has consumed and gained more than thousands of different memories.

    Infected Pustules are bulbous globules that spawn Brawler Hunters and Juggernauts.

    Alex is capable of taking a small piece of his biomass and put under the earth and let the pustules grow. Even though their growth time takes about from 3-7 minutes,their production time makes it worth the waiting.

    In order to wall run, Alex and shifts his biomass to his limbs to grant him greatly augmented strength, speed, and agility, an effect giving them the ability to run along nearly any surface.     Glide

    Glide is an essential locomotive ability developed by the Prototypes. This ability is used to travel a particular distance with sufficient boost.

    SUMMARY

    As part of the Movement upgrades, Glide can be used to bridge gaps between buildings or to reach airborne enemies. Glide can be used to its utmost potential with the combination of airdash.

    When used in combination with Airdash or double airdash, occasionally landing on a building for a boost, the Prototypes can literally fly from one end of the city to another.

    The glide ability is believed to be achieved via the lightening of the Prototype's cells. This may be caused by loss of biomass, which could explain the trailing mist of the limbs. However, this idea can be cancelled out seeming as to how the Prototypes do not have to consume to glide again. Also, the 'mist' is not proven to be biological matter.

    Airdash

    Airdash is one of the movement abilities, that allow the Prototypesto avoid projectiles or increase the speed and distance of their Glide.

    AIRDASH BOOST

    TACTICAL OVERVIEW

    Air upgrades aid in dexterity, stealth, and dodging abilities immeasurably. Airdash provides a quick boost through air, in any direction. It allows easy navigation through the city and evade incoming ordnance, particularly objects thrown at Mercer by the Hunters. It's main use is in conjunction with Glide. Alex gains a quick boost while gliding to increase the distance of the glide. With the combination of Airdash Double boost and glide, Alex can travel from one end of the city to another quickly with little trouble.

    Area Effect attacks are collective strikes that allow the Prototypes to hit multiple targets surrounding them. Most, but not all devastator attacks are considered as area effective attacks.

    The area effect attacks can be classified into ground level and airborne. The difference between the two attack types is the chance of hitting the target and the time taken to charge. At ground level, the attacks can be interrupted by attacking enemies while being charged. This results in damage and knock backs to the Prototypes.

    Airborne attacks are highly potent attacks which cannot be interfered by enemies and can be charged during the fall. Airborne attacks are highly useful to create a devastator attack as the Prototypes cannot be interrupted while they charge these attacks.

    TENDRIL BARRAGE DEVASTATOR

    The Tendril Barrage causes barbs made of hardened tendons to erupt from Alex's body in every direction,causing a massive shockwave as it emerges, impaling everything around them for a large distance. It will wipe out entire crowds of civilians and can one shot Hunters and Super Soldiers and armored Vehicles. Even the larger Leader Hunters will suffer an extreme amount of damage and in most cases killing it in one go.

    GROUNDSPIKE GRAVEYARD DEVASTATOR

    The Groundspike Graveyard is similar to the Groundspike power granted by the Claws. When used, it causes massive spikes of biomass to erupt from the ground, creating a deadly circle of spikes in close proximity to Alex. It is highly effective against hardened targets like Armor and buildings, but less effective than the Tendril Barrage against larger organic enemies due to its shorter range and smaller amount of spikes.

    This Devastator can usually destroy a military base or Hive in two hits, three in later stages of the game. The air version gives the benefit of charging the attack while on the move in the air and adding a larger output.

    Critical Pain Devasator

    Critical Pain fires a mass of hardened tendons from Alex's hands to crush a single target. It is the single most damaging move in the entire game, but can only be used to hit a single target. Anything that happens to be between Alex and the target will also be affected by the area air pressure caused from it.

    Its power is such that, short of bosses, one shots buildings, there is nothing that will survive this attack can only take one or more than two hits. The air version suspends Alex in the air at any level while executing the Devastator.

    If one looks closely and long enough, when Alex Mercer executes his Tendril Barrage Devastator, the tendrils move around and can extend, they move probably this is because Alex Mercer can control them as he wants, he is infected with the Blacklight virus and they make Alex Mercer resemble a virus with massive flagellas and that they extend because they are elastic(which makes sense, since they can go as far as they want, then retract and that they don't snap whenever they do extend)However in Prototype 2, James does have it, but only when he consumes the blacklight virus that Alex is fully infected with.

    Dive Roll

    Diveroll is an excellent defensive maneuver to avoid projectiles and attacks. It can be used to evade the swipe attacks by hunters and attack the foe after dodging it's initial attack.

    This ability is a great alternative from either jumping or airdashing away from the enemies. Since the attacks can be avoided, Mercer can stay close to the enemy and counter the attacks easily.

    Sensory Powers

    Sensory powers were unique sensory abilities developed by the Prototypes. These abilities could be utilized with other active offensive or defensive powers.

    The first Prototype Alex Mercer had enhanced his senses in two ways. Mercer had developed Thermal vision which granted him impeccable vision during battle where thick smoke would otherwise impeded his vision, but would also help him see his targets due to their body's temperature.

    His second sensory ability was the Infected vision, which allowed him to detect dormant carriers of the Blacklight virus, while providing similar tactical advantages of the thermal vision

    Infected Vision allows Alex to see the world as the Infected see it and tune into the Hive Mind itself. Alex uses this ability to spot enemies at range, and pick out hostile entities from simple bystanders. This sense reduces most sound, and dulls visual details to enable Alex to highlight and pick out every potential target from a given environment in the world. It seemingly allows Alex to also sense other people's diseases within their body.

    Thermal vision

    Thermal Vision is a type of sensory power obtained by Alex Mercer. It allows him to view targets and objects past smoke and/or past obstacles.

    Thermal vision is effective when used to highlight intense and/or biologically generated heat to see past debris, smoke and Bloodtox. It can be used to track Infected, military, police and pedestrians at the cost of a limited visual range. Thermal vision is highly useful in two of Alex's missions to destroy several Bloodtox blowers which will be used to eliminate the Infected.

    The difference between Infected vision and Thermal vision mainly lies in what it filters out. Thermal vision filters out smoke and other visual obstructions, while Infected Vision highlights enemies much more clearly.

    Hunting

    It is presumed that Mercer developed the sensory power called Hunting that allows him to pinpoint his target, while allowing him to sense if he was being watched. He is immune to being tracked by other Evolved with this ability. And only Evolved that have this ability cannot be tracked. So we can assume that Mercer has it as well.

    Hunting is a new ability he uses to hunt his targets. This ability allows Heller and Mercer to "ping" trenches, buildings, and facilities for human targets on a city wide scale.

    When activated, Heller and Mercer are capable of sending a viral sonar pulse to isolate their target among a group. This power can be mutated to detect targets at large distances. As this ability evolves, Heller and Mercer can see through his targets and detect if they were being watched And they can even see their nervous system.

    This a very impressive feat. Why? Il'l Explain:

    Always remember that pressure and heat are both forms of energy and that high explosives and thermobarics both produce heat and pressure when they detonate. The manner in which they produce these effects is what differentiates them. Thermobarics produce less heat and pressure than high explosives, but for a longer duration.

    It is also going to depend on what kind of structure you are ref to and what the atmospheric conditions are. 2 psi to 5 psi is sufficient to destroy most buildings not made of poured and reinforced concrete. A large Thermobaric device can resemble a small nuclear detonation in its effects, minus radiation. With an overpressure within the detonation reaching up to 430 psi and temperatures of 4,500 to 5,400 °F, it will have no problems destroying these types of structures.

    The vacuum that comes after the detonation is nearly as deadly as the initial blast wave. Because the pressure wave is of a longer duration, Thermobarics are typically more destructive then are high explosives.

    "The [blast] kill mechanism against living targets is unique–and unpleasant…. What kills is the pressure wave, and more importantly, the subsequent rarefaction [vacuum], which ruptures the lungs…. If the fuel deflagrates but does not detonate, victims will be severely burned and will probably also inhale the burning fuel.     Furthermore, a DIA article reveals, "that because the “shock and pressure waves cause minimal damage to brain tissue…it is possible that victims of FAEs are not rendered unconscious by the blast, but instead suffer for several seconds or minutes while they suffocate.”

    Mercer took the initial blast head on,Which killed everything else. Then pressure wave and vacuum had no effect on him.Why? Again,Mercer isn't alive,he does not posses any human organs or tissue. He is just Biomass. This shows that Mercer has great blunt force resistance.

    Ladies and Gentlemen one of the most overused and one of the Best Mercer feats out there (Until Prototype 3 comes out and blows our minds) Is the nuke. Many people overplay and downplay this feat. And I'm here to get that straight.!

    As you can see Mercer is escaping from the Nuclear explosion but still detonates and he gets caught within the Blast. Many people say that Mercer was away from the Blast radius and he was caught by the Schockwave!

    The Nuke was drooped 100+ of miles of away from New York still reached lower Manhattan and created the Dead Zone in Prototype 2.

    Watch here. The Bomb is still miles away from Manhattan and currently aboard the U.S Reagan. Even with that massive distance, if it detonates, it doesn't only obliterate Manhattan but a good portion of New York..

    Even the mission failed stats doesn't say that "Alex is dead". It says "New York was destroyed." if you fail the Timer. Only when you loose to the Supreme Hunter within the game is when it says that "Alex is dead".

    Even the Supreme Hunter before revealing himself told Mercer:

    "When the weapon detonates,and they think the infection is cleansed,they won't be looking for me. And when I consume you. I'll be able to withstand....even this."

    He said it himself. That if he consumed Alex and he said with confidence that he would Tank the nuke. But of course did not happen as Alex rekt him once again. And this time consumed it, to make sure it wouldn't come back once more.

    And Mercer went to the ocean with about a couple of minutes to spare on a Blackhawk helicopter. 194 mph top speed.

    He drooped it on the Ocean. 100+ of miles away from New York and Manhattan. With literally 5-7 seconds to spare. Count it after he drooped it. Only 7 seconds. Tops.

    He then rides off but the nuke detonates and he gets caught within the blast radius. Now the real question is here? Was there anyway that Alex could have possibly escaped the nuke? No! Absolutely not.

    The Nuke even reached the lower half of Manhattan. Even if Mercer had more time,he would have been caught within the shockwave.

    Mercer effortlessly outpaces sniper bullets at the beginning of his sprint

    Alex blocked an M-60 Grenade Launcher at close range. But of course the M-60 doesn't exactly exist. And it was based off the M79 Grenade Launcher.

    On this gif ,you will see that Alex causes a sonic boom behind him and outruns turret and missile gunfire from Helicopter the one-shots it via uppercut. You have to look at this closely and focus on every frame because it goes pretty darn fast. And if you notice the health is slowly increasing while doing this as well. Showing off a little of his regen during gameplay.

    Elisabeth Greene's Shockwave Devastator was enough to easily destroy anything around her at a small radiius. And blows back Mercer at a massive distance. Her shockwave is at the very least Supersonic with a high speed of 6,900 m/s. And Mercer perceived it in slow motion.

    Special Note: From time to time in the video you will see as Elisabeth Greene releases her Energy shockwave time slows down. Making everything go in super-slow mo,even the the supersonic shockwave. This is Mercer enhancing his perception to escape said shockwave.

    And these 4 gifs you will see Mercer reacting to Greene's shockwave and most of the time in his perception it's in slow motion.

    Mercer is capable of outpacing it in mid range. While in point blank I have tested this but unfortunately he can't outpace it he can only dodge it. The best way for him to outpace it is by jumping and using the air-dash which puts him in a massive distance between the shockwave. The Air-Dash itself does cause a Sonic Boom so it's very well believable for it to be possible. And the range if her shoockwave is on a city block scale.

    -Alex pulls out a Batman and literally disappears from the room in less than a second from Dana's sight. This is more impressive considering that not only was Alex close to Dana in front of her and he was trying to approach her, she only took her sight away from him, tilting her head slightly only blinking twice, Mercer was within an apartment on a 8 story building on the 6th floor. And he literally left the small apartment space without making a single sound in less than a second. And was already on top of the building when the game resumes. Batman ain't got nothing on this.

    As you can see, Alex gets his throat slit by Heller with a Mil Tech Combat Knife. Great for penetrating through body armor. But his body regenerates as Heller cuts. This demonstrates Mercer's great speed on his healing factor but it also shows that holes and cuts don't even consume Mercer's biomass since there's still a good portion of him around everywhere. And his cells replicate rapidly. Not to mention a small love tap from Mercer's back was enough to cause a small schockwave and blow Heller back at a massive distance and almost K.O. But somehow Heller survives and keeps trying with sheer determination and will power. And tries again.

    Alex can keep regenerating for days as long as plot isn't holding him back he will keep coming back as he did with Heller. Regenerating all signs of damage in an instant without any need of biomass.

    5:00-Alex manages to dodge a missile.

    5:13-Alex gets hit with a barrage of artillery strike missiles. And is only worn down.

    Proving that Mercer was holding Back against Heller plus Final Boss feats.

    -A lot of people believe that Heller actually beat Mercer fair and square. There are only 2 reasons why he won.

    1. It was PIS
    2. Mercer was holding back for reasons that I will state.

    1:20-Mercer demonstrates his superiority by doing something not even Heller could ever do. Consume 6 Evolved at once without even having to wear them down. And gets a massive power boost right off the bat.

    1:50-When Heller tries hitting Mercer with the Blade he immediately reacts and blocks him with ease and even helps the player with a hint of not using the same powers against him,

    2:15-Somehow gets stuck after he uses an air slice on Heller. Somehow......

    2:25-Mercer demonstrates great Superhuman speed to easily pass through Heller's Hammerfist Shockwave.

    2:28-Causes ground spikes to erupt from a far distance with a mere foot stomp.

    2:55-Instantly regenerates all of his damage in less than a second.

    3:05-Effortlessly pulls down a helicopter with the Whipfist with enough force to cause some serious damage to Heller. And no Heller you're not to fast for him

    4:00-Again Heller tries to use the same power Mercer has and Mercer easily reacts to it and counters it while taunting him.And again demonstrates his Super Speed.

    4:30-Instantly regenerates from all of his wounds in less than a second.

    4:40-Uses his controll over the infected to only summon flyers,instead of Brawlers,Goliaths,Juggernauts,Hydras to back him.

    4:45-Heller somehow magically gains enough Biomass to perform a devastator?!

    5:40-As Mercer easily regenerates all of his dismemberment and somehow runs out of powers to use? Shield?Armor?Musclemass?

    6:20-With a calm voice says "Welcome to the top of the food chain.'''Before Heller consumes him.

    7:00-He says that "He is no longer bound to life and Death".

    7:25-From consuming Mercer,Heller now can do a city wide devastator.

    Reasons why Mercer is still Alive

    Mercer is no longer Human. He's not a host like Heller. He can evolve beyond what we even think. Mercer demonstrated in So many ways that He is superior:

    • Superior Reaction
    • Superior Speed
    • Superior Regeneration
    • And Superior Strength
    1. Mercer is a virus with a mind of it's own. It has full control of it self. Isn't there any reason why Mercer can't simply split himself away from Heller,or consume him inside out or split himself?
    2. In the comics Mercer had left bits and parts of him around the World.
    3. Mercer never showed to be actually fully serious within the fight.
    4. Never used his other powers.
    5. Didn't even bother to do a devastator.
    6. Mercer is the smartest being within his universe. He always has a plan within a plan.
    7. I'm pretty sure Radical Entertainment wouldn't just kill off their unofficial mascot like that. They know Mercer is a fan favorite. Remember how crazy the community went when they heard about the Mercer skin?

    Even here, Alex fodderises Mid Game Heller without effort. Treating him like a toy. A minor annoyance at best.

    0:02- Alex Mercer sneak attack outta nowhere.

    0:05- Brushes Heller off with one hit from the Tendril power and Heller recovers.

    0:15- Another hit from his tendril and Heller is worn down. 2 shot...Interesting.

    0:25- Even with 100+ Tonner Heller does his best to break Alex's grip but fails.

    0:32- Mercer begins to manipulate the virus within Heller (Either to self destruct or consume him). But somehow through the power of family and PIS (evidenced by the flashback) Heller resists it.

    And instead of fighting Heller and beating him to a bloody pulp as he was proving his dominance he decides to run away. And to make him suffer.... I hate Villain cliches. Not even Alex can fight back against that..It's unfortunate.

    Mercer doesn't need claws to use the Groundspikes.

    -This is currently Prototype 2 Mercer this is sort of irrelevant. Especially since Alex demonstrated that he is superior to Heller in speed on a few occasions. But this shows something interesting.

    -When Alex starts sprinting the sheer force of him sprinting causes a small schockwave and shatters concrete behind him as he launches. This could be him going with enough force to try and break the sound beerier.

    -But the interesting thing is when Heller starts sprinting. You can see him leave a massive ring behind him every time he sprints. This cannot be argued to be an effect. This could be Heller breaking the sound beerier. It might not look like it due to gameplay limitations in terms of speed.

    Alex's Speed Calculations:

    Kill Streak Speed

    It is specifically stated in the news in Prototype 2 that Alex has killed more than 3 millions people in less than a 21 days during the first outbreak alone. Lol 21 days. The Humor on Radical Entertainment.

    3,000,000 divided by 21= 142,857 people a day.

    Divide that by 24 hours

    5,952 people an hour

    divide that by 60 minutes

    And it's roughly a 100 people a minute

    That is fast, Crazy fast. This strengthens my Faster than sound speed argument.

    On the OBD, they provided a link explaining how fast Alex can go. He is invisible to the human-eye at top-speed:

    it has to do more with the refresh rate of your eyes and the angular velocity of the object in reference to your eyes. the human eye can detect a flicker at around 60 Hz, that means the human eye can detect something moving in front of it in as little as 16 milliseconds. so if an object crosses your field of vision in less than 16 millisecondsyou probably wont see it. Now why does angular velocity have anything to do with it? because angular velocity is related to the distance from your eyes. if something is 1ft away from your eyes, you have about a 3 foot field of vision, and the object only needs to cover 3 feet in 16 milliseconds. thats about 275 MPH. if the object is 100 miles away though, the object has to travel a few hundred miles in that same 16milliseconds. that's why you can see shooting stars and things in space travelling at thousands of miles an hour, but you cannot see a bullet.

    Actually, do you have any idea what the dimensions of the map are? I actually time how long it takes Mercer to run the entire length of the single longest piece of road in the game, which is basically the entire length of the map. Even getting bodychecked by a Hunter, and the streets littered with traffic and car wrecks and endless crowds of screaming civillians, I made the run in three minutes, ten seconds.

    Given that the map in Prototype 1 is supposed to be a recreation of Manhattan, it should be 13.4 miles long and 2.3 miles wide.

    That's rather impressive for a flat run.

    4.6 Miles per minute, which is then multiplied by 60 = 276 MPH

    The fact that the person was getting stalled and beaten by hunters along the way makes this calculation inaccurate. And it's a minimum of Alex's speed. But it does prove how Alex can easily speed blitz Humans on a daily basis without them even noticing it. But still inaccurate. So I tried it myself.

    I repeated this more than 8 times to fully confirm my result.

    I couldn't even get a clear run without a single Hunter slowing me down and rocket launchers blowing me back. But my fastest run was made it in 2 minutes 22 seconds.

    13,40 divided by 2.2= 6.0 miles per minute

    6 miles per minute, multiplied by 60= 360 Mph. Now this is more accurate.

    So Prototype 1 Alex's true speed has to be at the very least above 360 Mph.

    If we count in the fact that Alex almost outran the Ultra-Sonic Shockwave:

    His Speed should be well above: 24,840+ Mph

    Prototype 2 Alex Mercer:

    360 Mph x 2= 720 Mph. Near as fast as the speed of sound. Even though realistically Mercer is 'well above what I just calculate.

    So for now. Mercer is a confirmed Minimal Transonic+ in running and movement speed.

    And if we take The Video I posted above in terms of Alex's speed in comparison to Heller. Mercer is easily above 820 Mph in movement speed. Super Sonic+ to be more exact.

    Mach 1 is the speed at which you break the sound barrier. The speed of sound, or Mach 1, at sea level and under "standard condition" is:

    • 1,116.4 ft/s
    • 340.3 m/s
    • 761.2 mph
    • 1,225.1 km/h

    This is how fast Mercer truly is. His top speed is well above at least 820+ Mph.

    Counting in the fact that he Almost outran Elizabeth Greene's Schockwave:

    24,840+ Mph x 2= 49,680 Mph

    Evolved form:

    Low Level Speed: 720 x 3= 2160+ Mph

    High Level Speed(Counting him breaking the sound beerier): 820 x 3=2460+ Mph.

    Flash Step Speed: Unknown Limit. Probably very well above 10,000 Mph per hour

    And Finally counting in Greene's shockwave:

    49,680 x 3= 149,040 Mph

    Flash Step: Unknown Limit 300,000+ Mph.

    Alex's Durability Calculations

    Prototype 1 base:At least Multi-City block level- Can withstand a small tactical nuke Explosion (Thermobarric explosion) like nothing.

    Prototype 1 armor: Multi-City Block+

    Prototype 2 base: Town/Hill level

    Prototype 2 Armor: Town/Hill level++

    Evolved Form: City level

    Alex's Destructive Capacity

    • Easily one shots and pulverizes Humans and Helicopters.
    • Can destroy tanks and APCs with a few strikes from his bare hands.

    Prototype 1 At base he's at the very least building level+.

    Destroyed and obliterated Everything on sight within the entire Times Square with the Tendril Barrage devastator. City wide if we count the fact that Heller managed to only do a citywide Devastator after consuming Alex. Meaning Alex had the ability to do his Tendril Barage devastator close if not on equal scale.

    City Block+ with offensive powers at the very least.

    Alex's Adaptability

    Mercer's body can quickly respond and adapt to many sorts of things if he is continuously exposed to it. For example..Fire. Like in Prototype 2 right in the beginning. Heller was set ablaze with a giant firebomb within a lab. He was near death but after consuming a few infected, another fire bomb did moderate damage to him.

    A restrained and Sedated Hydra was getting continuously zapped by a modified electric stick meant to put down and K.O elephants and Rhinos. After a couple of zaps, the stick had no effect on it.

    Mercer also adapted to Blood tox after continuous exposure.

    Alex's Combat Experience

    • Since Mercer has consumed from hundreds to thousands of different Military and Black ops Personel.
    • Mercer posses more than 100+ Years worth of Military and martial arts training at his disposal.
    • He is well versed on CQC (Close quarters Combat),Judo and Kick Boxing.
    • Should be capable of beating anyone in close combat due to vast experience with soldiers, super soldiers and such Knowledge of pressure points, martial arts, and many other styles and fighting styles.
    • Mastered Every single firearm he could get his hands on.

    • Can easily one-shot people with a handgun from 2 mile distance with a headshot.
    • Should be capable of shooting someone from afar with combination of science and a sniper rifle

    Alex's Intelligence

    As a human, he is a GENTEK scientist, got University and National level award. Now, as he possesses the knowledge and memory of serveral thousands of people he consumed and still growing, even connects himself with the Core Hivemind allows him to access the mind of millions of people. As he consumes a lot of high-rank military commanders and scientists on various department, he's got advanced knowledge on military operation, control armored vehicles and on various of science department (especially biology). Large battle experience against Infected and military.

    Before Mercer had been infected by the Black-Light virus, he was one of the head researchers at the "Gentek Biological Research Facility" and discovered the proper source of the virus along with it's rather volatile history. By possessing an already excelling intellect at this point, he'd be considered a genius in the field of biology and in general terms by applying his knowledge.

    After releasing his vial and adapting to the virus itself, Mercer was gifted with the ability to consume living organisms obtaining the memories and appearance of the victim although this is seemingly limited to human beings and any other organism he consumes only grants him a portion of biomass and/or some of their abilities. The collection of the memories Mercer can access is called the Web of Intrigueand number of minds he possesses is 131. Even though canonically speaking Mercer has consumed and absorbed over Millions of people. Most of these mind aren't just coming from any average individuals, so to give you an idea of the diverse intelligence Mercer has at his disposal:

    • 1st Lieutenant James Goodwin
    • Sergeant Joseph Sorenson
    • Dr. Ricardo Garcia
    • Captain Mac Marshall
    • PFC (Marine Corps) Jesse Arel
    • Private Damien Loshek
    • General Peter Randall
    • Head Captain Elite Robert Cross

    As you can see, Mercer possesses the brains and skills from just about every rank of the United States military system along with skill,pilots/vehicle coordinators (hence Mercer's ability to easily maneuver tanks or pilot helicopters) and learned doctors. Be my guest if you're willing to research the qualifications for those plus there's dozens of more examples I could list but I figure this should do it, Mercer's intelligence and skill is beyond the reach of any single mind across the globe.

    Alex's Healing Factor

    -Mercer's healing factor is limitless. In terms of healing. But in terms of healing speed is different. Mercer needs to be properly nourished to be capable of healing at high speeds. The lower amounts of biomass he has,the slower he will regenerate.

    Minor injuries like cuts and small holes don't consume his biomass. And he can regenerate instantly at will.

    Not to mention. Think about this. If we're judging Alex at peak capacity. A crow was enough to put him back to full power in moments. And then later in the final Prototype 2 Boss Battle there was a large amount of inconsistency in his healing. If a Crow was enough to put him back to his peak then 6 Superhuman should be enough to make him impossible to take down. But yet a bit of dismemberment weakened him. So no. If we're judging him on his peak we take out Plot driven stupidity that hinder Alex's potential. His healing is officially close to infinite.

    Alex's Resistance

    • High Resistance to high temperatures: Walked off a thermobarric explosion and didn't get incinerated by the Blast Radius of the Nuke.
    • High Resistance to Sub-Zero Temperatures: Went for a deep Sea diving in Antartica. Didn't notice a difference in the temperature change.
    • HIgh Resistance to Radiation: Radiation didn't affect him
    • High Resistance to Nuclear Fusion: Resisted Nuclear Fusion from Nuke.

    Known Weaknesses.

    For all of Alex's powers unfortunately as I recently discovered he indeed does have weakness.

    With an interview with one of the writers of Protoype 1,Dennis Detwiller answered the following questions:

    1. How powerful was Cross' baton? It had to have a lot of energy to affect someone like Alex.

    2. Does water have any effect on Alex's physiology at all? Or is the jumping out just a better way to get out than swimming?

    3. Does he have like his own self-contained hivemind going on in his head, or was he just referring to have the memories of all those people?

    4. What were the green orbs Elizabeth made during the boss battle? Actual energy balls? Flying virus particles, maybe?

    Alex Mercer's physiology doesn't take well to electrical discharges. Somehow he can't stop the conduction of electricity with his biomass which causes more off a muscle spasm. Causing him to lose control of his muscles A.k.A biomass and locking him in place.

    Even though people might believe that the stun baton might have done some serious damage but in reality it didn't. It simply locked Alex's body in place. Cross was amped during that Boss battle and was dealing a lot more damage than a Tank. so it's most probably that Mercer's body simply gets stunned by it. But not exactly hurt unless the voltage is pretty darn high.

    To sum it all up

    Mercer is a underrated Video Game Character. Little do People know that Mercer is one of the most Powerful Video Game characters out there. I hope this Thread has enlighten people on how powerful Mercer truly is.

    Id like to make another part of the Respect Thread to Elizabeth Greene. A character people don´t really know much about. And how OP she is.

    To also know what she´s capable of we need to know what she is.

    Greene is basically the physical manifestation of the Redlight Virus. Unlike Mercer,she still possess her viral organs but with a unique physiology due to the drastic changes that the Virus and experiments with Blackwatch had done on her.

    So what exactly is Greene? Well...She's a Runner.

    Runners

    "They're clever. The worker-bees--the Walkers--they just do as they're told, the Runners are different. They think."

    Runner is the codename assigned by Blackwatch to non-Prototype Infected individuals who had managed to escape military detainment. These infected individuals are capable of manipulating and spreading the virus they have been infected with.

    SUMMARY

    Although Runners can be classified as a variant of the Infected, they differ from the walkers. A Runner's physical features and intelligence are not affected when they are infected with a viral strand, similar to a Prototype.

    However, little is known about the exact behavior of Runners. They seem have a certain innateability to control the infected individuals to a certain extent. Their physique is drastically enhanced to physically overpower a Prototype.

    Also, according to a Web of Intrigue node, all Runners are female. Genetic differences between genders probably impede males from developing Runner traits and mutations.

    KNOWN RUNNERSedit

    ELIZABETH GREENE

    Elizabeth Greene was a Runner infected with the Redlight virus during Blackwatch's experiments atHope, Idaho. She had a great state of command over other types of infected and was capable of controlling the whole town of infected Walkers for over a year.

    When she was released at Manhattan by Alex Mercer, Greene started to spread her own strand while creating new forms of infected creatures. Like in Hope, Greene was able to control these infected except Mercer. She was also capable of infecting everything she touched, even non-organic materials, making her extremely deadly.

    UNNAMED RUNNER

    The Unnamed Runner from the Web of Intrigue, the face never shown.

    An unnamed runner is mentioned by Cptn. Robert Cross during a debrief to his soldiers. It is unknown how she was infected, or managed to escape from Blackwatch. This Runner evaded being captured for three weeks, during which she infected a town called Two Bluff.

    The town was eventually contained by Blackwatch. The Runner was tracked and killed by Cross.

    Redlight

    McMullen: "We've never seen a pathogen with 99.9% mortality rates."
    Gary Langkabel: "99.999%. It's fast too. By day three, it had been taken over 70% of the town. The remaining citizens were then forcibly infected.
    In the first month, half of the population died from the virus.

    Redlight was the first variant of viral strand created by Blackwatch and was initially intended as a bio-weapon. This virus was code named as "DX-1118 A".

    The experiments conducted using this virus were known as Carnival I and Carnival II. Military families of various nationalities were taken to Hope, Idaho, officially as part of an experimental self-sufficient town in the face of nuclear war.

    EVOLUTION

    In 1969, the virus found the perfect host in Elizabeth Greene, as her genetic makeup was uniquely suited to its purposes.Greene became a staging ground for new mutant strains which were extracted from her blood. The military forces from Fort Detrick were forced to cleanse the town, though some townspeople attempted to fight them off. For two days the military skirmished with the victims, but finally they pulled out and shelled the town. The military moved in as the last survivors barricaded themselves in the hospital.

    BLACKLIGHT

    Elizabeth Greene gave birth during the military attack, to a son who was later codenamed "Pariah" and the two of them were immediately deemed military assets upon capture by Blackwatch. In 1989, Dr. Raymond McMullen, founder of Gentek, requested to study Elizabeth Greene, a request that was fulfilled. She was eventually transferred to the Gentek building in New York. Ten years later, a young scientist named Alex Mercer succeeded in creating a new strain of virus known as Blacklight based off samples taken from Elizabeth Greene.

    HISTORY

    IDAHO

    Elizabeth Greene was a resident of Hope, Idaho. She moved to the small town along with her father in 1967 after her mother had left to live with a community ofhippies. Soon she had familiarized herself with the local group of hippies and befriended a man namedSteve. The group broke into an incomplete Blackwatchresearch bunker and were arrested by the security personnel.

    At that time, Blackwatch had started testing theRedlight virus on the residents of Hope without any side-effects. By 1968 the newborn children were dying as the result of Carnival II. The virus however had found a perfect host in Greene. She was able to withstand the virus and produce a new strain (one of 14 discovered) that, among other things, made her body a factory of lethal viruses.

    THE OUTBREAK

    Greene had known associations with six of the twenty seven Hope Children during the project and her infection coincided with the death of the last, Michael K. Allan, on August 6, 1968. Two days later, she became the nexus of the Hope outbreak which resulted in the mutation of the town's residents. The town quickly became a massive hive, with every infected inhabitant single-mindedly protecting the infected Greene. Blackwatch was unable to control the infection for nearly a year. Blackwatch had concluded that Greene was responsible for this outbreak and ordered Captain Peter Randall to capture her. Randall and his team managed to break into the town and locate Greene, who had taken refuge inside the town's hospital.

    Randall discovered that she was pregnant and was about to deliver her child. He ordered that the mother and her child were property of Blackwatch and both were to be taken into custody. While Greene delivered her child, Randall watched closely and tried to take the newborn child along with him. Greene bit Randall's arm in a fit of rage. Knowing the risk of infection, Randall severed his arm.

    Soon Greene and her child, codename Pariah, were extracted from the town. Blackwatch initiatedOperation Altruistic, destroying the small town. This incident was covered up as the result of riots caused by local groups against the military.

    LATER LIFE

    Due to the infection, Greene's biology had changed. Her aging seems to have stopped and she did not exhibit any degenerative effects common to most human beings. Her body was producing new virus strains on a daily basis.She went into a dormant state akin to brain death. Greene was transferred to Fort Detrickon August 1, 1969 for containment, and held at Fort Detrick, Ward F, for nine years and two months. Pariah was moved toVandenberg Air Force Base and became a test subject for various Blackwatch projects. They hired Dr. Raymond McMullen, the Director of Gentek, to continue experimentation with gene manipulation.

    On October 1, 1978, she was transferred to containment at Governor's Island Medical station, New York. Then she was moved to the Gentek building, located in midtown in Manhattan on January 1, 1989 for study in Project Blacklight, as Test Subject 001 at Dr. Raymond McMullen's request.

    McMullen had recruited Alex Mercer, Karen Parker and other promising scientists for the research. For the next ten years, Mercer led Project Blacklight and the team was able to successfully synthesize a new viral strain.

    Eventually, Mercer became suspicious of Gentek's affiliations and started to investigate the origin of the viral strands. He discovered Greene's presence in the facility and confronted McMullen, enquiring after Greene's purpose and how the research was being used. Blackwatch considered Mercer a liability, even though McMullen tried to convince them otherwise.

    SECOND OUTBREAK

    As he dug deeper into the Greene's past, Mercer discovered how she was infected and the true nature of his work at Gentek. Mercer escaped with a vial of the virus and released it when cornered at Penn Station. The agents who followed shot Mercer as the vial broke, releasing the virus and infecting civilians in Penn station including Mercer himself. He later woke up in a morgue without any recollection of his past, the virus having reconstructed his body.

    In his search for the truth, Mercer infiltrated the Gentek facility in-order to confront Greene, hoping she could answer his questions. However, Greene used this opportunity to escape. She had managed to create a new form of infected beings from the dead soldiers who were sent in to extract her.

    BREAKOUT FROM GENTEK

    Upon Mercer's arrival, Greene freed herself from the holding cell and threw him against the far wall. She then showed him visions of her past, providing Mercer with incomplete information. As he tried to recover from these visions, Greene broke a hole in the wall with a touch and escaped while setting the Hunters on Mercer.

    Mercer managed to escape the Hunters but soon realized the mistake he had made. Greene had started to infect the city with her own strain of virus at a rapid pace. A few days later, she sent one of her leader hunters to kidnap Alex's sister, Dana Mercer. The hunter was successful in doing so due to Blackwatch's interference in Mercer's pursuit.

    With the help of Dr. Bradley Ragland, Mercer located the leader hunter Greene had used. Consuming the hunter revealed Greene's and Dana's location to Alex, who then commandeered aThermobaric tank to blast his way into the core hive where Greene had been residing and controlling the infected from.

    A battle ensued between Greene and Mercer upon the latter's arrival. During this fight Mercer injected the parasite Blackwatch had used to subdue him. However Greene's body instantly developed an immunity towards it and rejected the pathogen. The rejected biomass mutated into a new type of hunter as she escaped the building.

    MOTHER

    Greene retreated into the depths of the city along with her army of infected as Blackwatch started to spread Bloodtox around the city. This substance initially hindered Mercer's operations, but he develops an immunity towards it over time. An anonymous contact contacted and informed him of Greene's new location and how Mercer might bring her out of hiding.

    As suggested by the contact, Mercer infiltrated the Bloodtox supply convoy and managed to pump it under the city. Due to the harmful effect the substance has infected beings, Greene was driven out of the underground and emerged in the form of a massive infected creature, Mother.

    In a battle that wrought havok in the city streets, Mercer tactically eliminated all of Mother's defenses and from that biomass, Greene emerged. Without hesitation, Alex consumed her and in doing so discovers the truth about the incident in Hope.

    CHARACTERISTICS

    Elizabeth Greene was a highly unstable individual, although whether this was solely due to the effects of the virus or if it was due to what she had experienced is unknown. She had accepted the infection and was willing to spread the virus, regardless of human loss.

    APPEARANCE

    During her time in Blackwatch's custody, Greene wore a medical suit, probably designed for test subjects. Her physical appearance did not change over the span of forty years.

    POWERS & ABILITIES

    After being infected with the Redlight virus, Greene's body became a breeding ground for new types of viral strains. Many of these strains were used by Blackwatch and Gentek for research in biological warfare.Many of so have granted her Super Human abilities. Some Similar to Alex Mercer.

    PHYSICAL POWERS.

    • Infection/Hive mind: Elizabeth Greene's most basic and powerful ability was to infect other individuals on a massive scale. Her body is teeming with the Blacklight virus, If she were to even just touch you, you will become infected with the virus, and the virus is also presumed airborne, just not waterborne. Assume she can infect humans, animals, and even weaker level FREAKS. She can also infect inanimate objects like buildings turning them into diseased bases for the infected which can churn out more powerful infected, infect anyone who gets too close to the building, and even provide shelter for the infected as infected building are a lot tougher than normal buildings requiring either bunker busting weapons or massed tank gun fire to bring down.The individuals she had infected were somehow connected with each other, and Greene was capable of controlling all of them. This ability of hers was known as the Hive Mind, and was later acquired by Alex Mercer, although Mercer could only manage to use this ability for tracking and reconnaissance.
    • Superhuman Strength: Her incredible strength allowed to effortlessly almost one shot Alex Mercer with a mere backhand.Can easily bust through concrete with her bare hands.She can lift and smash cars, trucks, APCs, and helicopters to pieces and throw them at great distances. SHe is far stronger than the Infected, able to kill a regular human with a slap and can even keep up with Mercer in small show of strength.
    • Shapeshifting/Biomass Manipulation:Not nearly as precise as Alexs as she can’t change her appearance into other people but she can manipulate the bodies of other infected, can absorb actuall biomass with a mere touch and even reinforce building structures with her biomass to the point that the military had to bring a Thermobarric Tank just to breach it,and can create massive building sized shields of solid biomass or massive tentacles that erupt from the ground armed with blades sharp enough to slice open an up armored M1Abrams tank like a hot knife through butter, and other forms of shapeshifting.
    • Superhuman Speed: Like Mercer, her speed is enhanced.
    • Superhuman Agility: She is very agile and athletic like an Olympic Gymnast. Even though not as fast as Mercer while Sprinting. But she outmaneuvers Mercer in terms of agility.
    • Telepathy/Mind Control: Elizabeth Greene can speak directly to anyone infected with the Blacklight virus using just her mind,and can even take control of most basic human minds, and she has total control over all infected.
    • Superhuman Endurance: Greene´s endurance far exceeds that of a human's by leaps and bounds. Her is fueled by different strains of the Redlight Virus.And with a unique physiology,which renders her body immune to otherwise debilitating injury. This biological change allows her to survive falls from any height completely unharmed as well. Bullets of any caliber will pass through her lodged on her body,causing no damage that heals instantly. She can withstand direct hits from rockets, hellfire missiles and tank shells, which cause only small amounts of damage.Her superhuman stamina allows her to be physically active at all times.
    • Healing Factor: She also has incredible regeneration and capable of healing her damaged body in just seconds much like Alex except unlike Alex her regeneration is limited to the amount of biomass she has consumed, after exhausting all available biomass she will be incapable of healing for a short time until her body produces it´s own Biomass..
    • Superhuman Senses: Greene's vision and hearing is enhanced, allowing him to see beyond the visible spectrum and hear across great distances even with physical insulation.

    Mother Form

    During her final conflict with Alex, Greene surrounded herself with vast amounts of biomass, forming a large worm-like creature with three large tentacles protecting its core. This form adopted by Greene, dubbed "Mother," had potent defensive abilities and claimed many lives during the battle.

    Increased Strength: She can smash tanks to pieces in seconds, and she can utilize her tentacles as anti-aircraft weapons by throwing 70 ton tanks at aircraft accurately enough and far enough to take them out. Her raw strength even exceeds that of Alex Mercer as in this form.

    Increased Toughness: Her body can take enormous amounts of damage as 120mm tank guns, anti-tank missiles, and even MLRS battery fire barely gives her any significant damage. The soldiers fighting her in the final fight even request bunker busting munitions to deal with her.

    Energy Generation?: Greene can somehow generate numerous salvos of homing green orbs from her body that seek out enemies and explode like a bomb sort of like homing missiles except more precise.

    Detonation Schockwave:She also has the ability to generate a shockwave on demand so powerful that it can kill everyone in Times Square including tanks, helicopters flying overhead, and even Alex Mercer himself if he´s too close and low on Biomass.

    Telekinesis?: Somehow during your final fight with her in Prototype she had the ability to quickly suck up hundreds of truck sized boulders and launch them out at you at a very high velocity capable of taking out helicopters even at their flight ceiling in game.

    Infected Abilities:

    The Blacklight virus infects and mutates ordinary people and animals turning them into superhuman monsters totally obedient to Greene’s will.

    Here are some of the different forms the mutation can take:

    Walkers: most people infected with the Blacklight virus become basically zombie like creatures obedient to the will of the Hive Mind. In ability they are roughly equivalent to Hellsing ghouls, slow, stupid, tough, and attack in innumerable swarms.

    Evolved Infected: These infected are not as numerous as the basic variety of infected but still attack in massive swarms, and they are by far a lot stronger than the basic infected and far more heavily mutated in appearance. They are strong enough to pierce the armor of a Bradley IFV with just their hands, tough enough to keep fighting while being blasted with a .50 cal machine gun requiring autocannons and grenade launchers to bring down effectively, and they are fast enough to outrun cars and agile enough to scale the walls of buildings quickly and with ease.

    Hunters: These are the warrior infected not as numerous as common infected they normally hunt in packs of 2-5 hunters or in some cases groups of packs. These infected are incredibly powerful capable of surviving a direct shot to the chest from a 120mm gun or anti-tank missile, strong enough to rip through the hull of a M1Abrams and throw semi-trucks like they weigh as much as a softball, and fast enough to run a cityblock in seconds, and capable of jumping high enough to swipe helicopters out of the sky and scale the Empire State Building in about half a minute.

    Leader Hunters: Function as pack leader, like hunters except stronger, bigger, and tougher.

    Even with her low feat account she has proven that she is a dangerous individual at her base form. Now at her mother form...She´s something else.

    • Her experience is unknown, but it´s same to assume that she is an Olympic Gymnast.
    • Watched and Consume Blackwatch and Gentek personnel for 40+ Years. Even though the number pales in comparison to Mercer´s gained experience from consumption.

    Greene's Intelligence

    She has shown to be capable of leading an army of monster well coordinated against Blackwatch.She is well aware of Blackwatch´s military tactics and operations due to 40+ years of being with them. And she has consumed several different Blackwatch personal.Almost rendering Blackwatch helpless. But due to Mercer´s interference she failed at her goal.

    Greene's Healing Factor

    -Greene's healing factor is limited. Unlike Mercer she depends on how much Biomass her body can produce in time or how much she has left from consuming. If she runs out of biomass she becomes weakened for a minute before her body automatically produces more Biomass to regenerate Herself.

    As new people here might notice the Respect Thread is a tad bit different. I'm doing my best to organise and reconfirm my results. So here some cool concept arts of the Game Prototype. Some of them have been applied to Alex Mercer so most of them are canon. But this doesn't onlly serve as feats but as a show casing of the art on Prototype Dev Team. Really nice.

    Mercer and the rest of his evolved are capable of sending out sharp spikes from every direction in their body. It's like a mini Tendril desvatator. But the thing is that they're retractable and don't consume Biomass.

    From the Concept art, it is shown that Mercer was supposed to be the main and Playable Character in Prototype 2. But I guess Radical decided to scrap this. Furthermore it shows that Mercer can easily one shot Various infected.

    Other than feats shown on screen. The Writer's words help give understanding of the characters.

    A common thing I'd like to adress to most, who confuse that Alex only gets the memories and DNA and shapes of the people he consumes. The designer and the programmer for the web of intrigue and one of the writers within Prototype 1 added this.

    We have a rather unique opportunity with a main character who can consume and become any character in the game. Alex Mercer collects minds like a detective gathers clues. In the game, this is represented by the Web of Intrigue, an interactive chain of clues which are actually minds of select important individuals, spread throughout the game world.

    All of Alex's main abilities - how he fuels his powers, genetic advancement and health replenishment – are focused around consumption. Alex can consume humans, absorbing their mass, genetics and minds; allowing him to become a perfect duplicate of the target and, more importantly, allowing him full access to their memories. -Dennis Detwiller

    So Alex doesn't only get people's powers,shapes,DNA and memories. He also gets their minds. Albeit making sense on he's perfectly capable of replicating a person completely. Memories simply isn't enough to replicate a person's character on the fly. And even cooler is that he even added that he can evolve by consuming.

    Alex's Armor capability. The game itself only adds that the Armor increases Alex's defensive abilities. Making him experience a small fraction of what he would experience without it. But does it make Alex invulnerable to certain elements?

    Or perhaps he’ll grow a body-full of chitinous armor to deflect tank rounds then use his infrared vision to locate targets in hiding. -Dennis Detwiller

    The armor allows Mercer's body to deflect tank rounds. There's another cool thing to add in.

    Another cool thing that was added before Prototype was redesigned Dennis stated that there is a possibility that Alex Mercer can duplicate himself. This would be the case for Co-Op.

    And we don't have any of the conceptual problems of having two Alex's — he is, after all, a shape-shifter who has absolute control of his genetic structure. All he needs to do is grow a duplicate! -Dennis Detwiller

    Even though this was never done it can be assumed that he can do so. In fact fans have theorized that the Alex Mercer that was consume in Prototype 2 was a clone. It would make sense. But one thing that stays 100% true is that Alex has complete control over his genetic structure.

    Wow, that’s totally awesome thread and the best info compilation about Alex I’ve ever seen.

    Usually I prefer purely good characters (Superman is my all-time favorite, my Commander Shepard is 90% Paragon, etc.), but there is something about Alex’ character that makes me to like him (though “first game only” Mercer).

    Good job at finding all this info, numbers and especially concept arts (I have quite the collection of my own, but admit that I didn’t see some of them before).

    Though some of your statements I find not perfectly clear and some a bit… far-fetched, I guess, overall, nicely done job.

    @dygoboy: Just saw! And I could see the mooks where you based off my prelude heh. And I think with this respect thread, I've come up with a few great ideas. Note me in deviantart if you'd like to hear one. But for real, this is a great respect thread and proves the greatness that is Alex

    My only complaint would be the 150% less damage. Because that would mean you're not taking damage from anything, and well and more. Do you mean 150% enhanced defense?
    And yup, I still argue with the electricity but I do agree (and love) the idea of Alex being still alive. Maybe he pulled a Kessler heh

    Anyway my only argument? Well I do have more but I'm already busy with another guy on another site and rather not talk about it more

    A restrained and Sedated Hydra was getting continuously zapped by a modified electric stick meant to put down and K.O elephants and Rhinos. After a couple of zaps, the stick had no effect on it,

    The stick was still affecting it. But when James arrived the Blackwatch soldier handling said stick immediately started running because the Hydra was panicking upon James arrival. So its more like panicking because a monster has arrived rather than the little kid with the knife that you know you can beat up

    And Cross Battle? I think it was perfectly fine. He took on Runners before and with that electric rod was able to knock away Alex. It's easy to react to something that needed to get close so all Cross had to do was swing and stun. Even if Alex is strong or fast, if he's stunned he can't use those. Cross wouldn't have taken a hit , maybe another one but in the end all he had to do was stun Alex. There was no way he could take that many attacks after all, so Gameplay Mechanics. But the vulnerability to electricity? Not weakness or resistance but vulnerability? It's canon

    And yeah seeing no proof. I always thought that the more Alex is exposed to something, the faster he'll adapt to it. He's not exposed to electricity, a lot soooo

    Part 2 is going along fine. I have the script ready however it's a pain to write them and I really want to avoid having to do a part 3. There's also the issue of finding OSTs

    And hmm, so that implies that Alex can be faster time to time than James. Or that he has more character in the second game than in the previous one lol. Kidding aside, he seemed to assume that James should've dodged or moved faster

    Well it's easy to get by once you get used to it.

    Yes it well did imply. Even at times when Heller tries to attack him,even with area effectts of the Hammerfists or the range with the whipfist, Mercer can almost phase through them with his speed.

    It's funny thing that when your too far from Alex and you try to get away from the field,time literally almost freezes and James is almost frozen in the air, and then Alex proceeds to move at hyper speeds then reels you back in with the whipfist. It's really funny cause in the battle he wasn't even trying.

    Even most of his quotes are barely registering any sort of hate,aggression or effort towards James. In fact it literally implies that Alex wanted to lose. He proceeds to correct James multiple times, talk smack to make angry,and even tells him to try harder. Even when Heller gets beaten, Alex is more disappointed than happy about defeating him.

    That'll take awhile for me : p But if I do. I'll rush an OPM respect thread and prove that Saitama is not as wanked as he is

    Hmm. I can't say that's certain for sure since I don't think Alex would pull off a Kessler. Since compared to Kessler, he really looked like he believed in his ideals. He wasn't preparing James for anything and even went as to far as to absorb his allies to truly fight James.

    Haven't seen that myself since I only rented Prototype 2 but I gotta find a cutscene of that. Got any online? There's always gameplay mechanics too so I'm kinda hesitant on that. Otherwise Kessler himself would be hyperspeed and that would boost Cole's already supersonic calc

    That said it's an interesting insight and certainly does give rise to speculation
