The comic book store that I go to would be more than willing to put up a sign for this site, they have a lot of signs in the windows. If it's okay with the staff, I could put up some stuff, maybe help the vine grow a little longer.

#2 Posted by NiteFly (1459 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

I haven't thought of it before, but if no one cares I will mention it to my comic shop owner to get the word out some more.

#3 Posted by Mighty Magneto (12987 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

Perhaps someone could design a flyer that people could give to there comic store to post up.

#4 Posted by Prodigal Son (3471 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

That's a good idea. I would be willing to do the same.

#5 Posted by Red L.A.M.P. (2828 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

Yeah, spread the word! Ooh, that would be cool, some one should design a printable flyer!

Methos, Prurience Man, anyone?

This site started popping up on top of google a lot, that's how I found it. I could design a flyer but after I get off work.

Yes, google makes or breaks a site. It's all I think about... getting our pages on the 1st page results of a google search.

If everyone put stuff up at their lcs, we the Vine would be buzzing.

#9 Posted by Mighty Magneto (12987 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

So first page of google and a flyer

Yup, I was searching for info on homage covers today, and fesak's blog post here on the Vine came up at #2. Pretty cool.

I'll work on a printable poster, but it would really help if I had some higher res. files to work with than just the 72 dpi stuff I could rip off the site. That way they'll print non-jagged.

Does anyone on the staff have some higher res logos and such they could shoot to me?

Okay, I'll tell the owners about it, their cool. They are the only employees too. They'll love it, and put up the sign.

And who drew those, I've been meaning to ask.

I think Cascader or RedLAMP didn't like it. I forget.

Thanks for the image, I'll work with it and see what I can get. I tend to be anal about my designs (because I never think they are very good) so it might be a couple of day.

The image is only 72 dpi, so it won't print out all that great unless I reduce it. Not to be pushy, but is there a higher resolution version available. Something in a TIFF format is preferable, and an EPS or Illustrator file would be supreme.

I'll work with whatever you can give me.

#19 Posted by G-Man (25943 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

That's all I have on my laptop. I'd suggest pm'ing Cascader (or maybe RedLAMP). Pretty sure it was Cascader that dealt with the artist that did the design for us.

My comic shop said no...

Sorry guys.

I'm not too good with the computer, I think I'll leave the flyer to you guys.

Good work everyone though.

They wouldn't let me put up a Comic Vine poster in the window when I asked.

#26 Posted by Intervener (453 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

That's odd, all of the comic store's I've come in contact would love to have something like this put up.

#27 Posted by Fourpower (R.I.P) (2021 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

Being 12 and no longer cute, the guy didn't really take me seriously and he's already putting up the World War Hulk posters.

#31 Posted by Prodigal Son (3471 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

I am. I hope to have some sample to show for it tonight, but I've been pretty busy with real work today.

#32 Posted by Mighty Magneto (12987 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

I hate real work

#33 Posted by Prodigal Son (3471 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

OK, here's some real quick and dirty mock-ups. These are just low resolution samples, so please don't try to print one of these out. Just looking for some feedback.

Be honest, and feel free to submit ideas. There's something you might "see" in your mind's eye, but don't have the software/skill to do yourself. Share the idea, and either me or somebody else around here will give it a go.

Feel free to rip these apart. This is just Round #1.

#34 Posted by Buckshot (18202 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

I like the bottom 2. The yellow font is better than the green one. I really like the tree or whatever background behind #4 but it still kinda feels like there's empty space. Maybe you could throw on a semitransparent layer that has like a collage of comic characters. They don't have to be really visible, just so you know they're there, but not too busy or anything that would distract from the logo.

I mean something along these lines:

I don't know how it'd look with that on top of the tree background but maybe you could give it a try. The mirage wouldn't even have to be on the entire background, maybe just peeking out in some places so you can see the characters and still the tree. If you put the collage on the plain white one then it would have to cover the whole background, but on the other one it wouldn't have to. If I had photoshop on my laptop I'd be helping design but I don't. Anyway, that's just my thought. Definitely a good start.

The more I look at it the more I like the 4th one. You don't have to add anything to that one, I just want to see how collage thing might look.

Advertising posters Round #2. Running with Buckshot's idea here. Very good idea Buckshot.

As before, these are not print-friendly, only proofs. Please give critiques and feedback, thanks.

#37 Posted by Buckshot (18202 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

The last one looks the best of the four. I think that's because of the blue as well as the sharpness of the background image. The third one doesn't look as good but it does have people from both big universes so that's cool.

Come on people, give him input.

The blue background is a little too...visible? Maybe you could make the CV logo a bit more dominant, either by making it bigger (not much bigger), or maybe fading the background a tad.

I like the last two. The second to last was nice and had both companies, but the last looked cleaner and your eyes don't shift around as much when you look at it. Great job P- Man.

#40 Posted by Mighty Magneto (12987 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

Looking good P-man i say the bottom two where both really cool.

1st: too blurry

2nd: too busy

3rd: I'm not sure if this is better. It's not worse, but I don't know if it's so much better than the color version.

I think the other one (last page) was better just because that image was better, not just because of the color.

Here's Round #3, all with the blue background we liked on the bottom of Round #2. Some are still better, more clear than others.

Bring it on everybody.

#44 Posted by Mighty Magneto (12987 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

Last one the best

First ones to plain

Seconds to busy

Last just right

#45 Posted by Prodigal Son (3471 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

I'll let this float around for a while before I do anything else new. Maybe Cap and LAMP will be able to give some feedback/approval. Plus, I'd like Intervener to have a say. He started all this.

#46 Posted by GL Bertron (3708 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

I like the third the most because again, not too much. The eye focuses better since you made it blue and took away from all the distracting colors. It has heroes from both the big two. Too bad there isn't a pic that represents more of the smaller names andn indie titles too. Like I said though, that is a good pic there P- Man.

#47 Posted by NiteFly (1459 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

Agreed that 3 looks best so far. 1 looks too blurry and I believe 1 and 2 look a bit stretched or compressed.

#48 Posted by Prodigal Son (3471 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

Bump for more feedback. Please go back a page (maybe two) to see all the idea submissions so far. Thanks.

#49 Posted by V (295 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

I like the bottom one on page two.

#50 Posted by Shatterstar (4072 posts) - 6 years, 1 month ago - Show Bio

I like the ones with lots of characters in the background, I don't really have a preference between them.
