Here is my idea for a new superhero MMO
Flight characters: Have full range flight abilities all the time, even during combat time. However, flight is not like the flight your used too.
Flight is thrust vector based. Which means you will keep moving in a direction until you apply counter thrust (just like zero G). That should give the non-flyers a fighting chance. You can increase your speed over time with points, but initially it won't be super high speed. But the speed will cap eventually.
Speedsters: Will exist, and can use their speed as much as they wan't, but they will require recharge times for instant speed moves.
Super strong characters: Will exist too, having the ability to jump really high.
Blasters: Will exist, will have the best ranged combat in the game. The downside is they lack the durability of the other archetypes as well as the travel abilities.
Energy Wielders: Think guys like Magneto, basically a cross between a flyer and a blaster, not doing either as well as the true archetypes of flight or blaster. Yet they do have really good area attacks for short ranges. Moving stuff via wind, telekinesis or magnetism.
The main difference between this MMO and the popular ones is the flight system and combat system.
Normal MMO's nerf travel speed during combat, but this concept would not do that.
The flight system would be different, but I think it would make for some interesting flight battles.
You could also add vehicles to characters who don't have travel powers. Or you could buy travel powers with points. Vehicles are cheaper to buy than powers.
