Kent because its the only one I've seen that the character actually died lol

Kent... dude, SO emotional. people even use his emotional death as an excuse to hate the movie BECAUSE IT WAS THAT EMOTIONAL

also Spock dieing is SOO more emotional than kirk dieing

so it wasn't a sad moment?

its easy to metagame a movie saying what they coulda or shoulda done, but in the heat of the moment, maybe that never occured to him, or maybe he thought it would have risked revealing his powers (could clark have pulled off the rescue without the risk of having to use his powers?)

my favorite explanation for this, isn;t a defensive response, but my original theory after watching to movie the first time. THIS is where we see where Clark gets his propensity to put himself before others.. Jonathon is so deadset on helping people, on working to do the right thing, without regard to personal safety, he can't even imagine an alternative. HE is going to save those people, and NO ONE ELSE will share the risk, because he is willing to put himself between everyone else, and the danger to protect them, because he is protecting them, Clark saving the dog is a risk to Clark, and Jonathon doesn't want anyone but himself to have the risk

that said. I respect your opinions, there are about 5 arguments i have heard about this scene, yours is the only one that isn't just plain dumb. yours actually makes sense, I just don't agree at all.

but hate it or love it, the scene is still really sad.
