@Pbott: I agree. I mean, it's very fun, sure, but it's nothing compared to Bendis and Miller.

Come on everyone, buy Captain Marvel and prove to them that a female can head a comic. That'll teach 'em for cancelling X-23.

DC has like 10-15 female minis, ones shots and ongoing. A female can definitely head a comic. Marvel just doesn't give them a chance. :(

I haven't been as up-to-date with my Marvel Comics reading lately, but Carol's new appearance is ugly. And do we really need another person to use the name Captain Marvel? Really? It's not like there's a shortage of them out there anywhere...

I'm getting Silk Spectre, Daredevil, Justice League, and Wonder Woman from off this list. I'm also getting Birds of Prey, Blue Beetle, Captain Atom, Fantastic Four, Green Lantern, and Nightwing.

Could you please spotlight Blue Beetle on one of these lists someday. I think its an incredible series, but its not selling too well. Its bad enough that Captain Atom got cancelled because of that. I would hate for the same thing to happen to Blue Beetle.

@Pbott: I agree with half of what you said. Bendis's run was way better, but I don't think I can call Waid's run "good". I read it for a few months, but was so bored that it physically pained me. And I know people will argue with me because it's an Eisner-winning comic, but the Eisners have been a joke for years. Daredevil sucks right now.

@Pbott: hmm, time will tell. Bendis had a huge run and Waid is only eleven issues in. The biggest thing for me is that I believe Maleev was the best artist for DD of pretty much all time, followed closely by Lark. Rivera is good, but not on the same level as these two in my opinion.

Don't forget about Brubaker as well. He did one hell of a job after Bendis left. It was too bad Diggle couldn't carry on the outstanding tradition that the two prior writers had put together.

Side note: Be glad the twilight director has left the DD reboot!!!

Captain Marvel: Another soon to be cancelled title.

I personally buy comics that offer a bang for the buck. That's why most of the ones on this list aren't being bought. Why isn't Justice league Dark listed? or Vampirella?

In my opinion Ms. Marvel surpassed Captain Marvel. They didn't need to make her actually become Captain Marvel to prove this. Ruined her character in my opinion.

Hey, you like what you like. And honestly, I like the main feature in JL too. I was just being overly sarcastic in the write-up.

I get ya now. It was the day after comic-con when I wrote that. Guess I was too tired to understand the humor at the time lol

Everyone buy Captain Marvel. Why? Because Carol is wonderful and deserves more than a couple lines every two months in a team book.

I agree here that your list is way cooler than the Norris list.Seriously folks once again the blog list wallows in industry fed Bantha fodder listing titles that have been overhyped to death already. Only SAGA (an obvious attempt to scramble for street cred) and Sunset and XO being worth the ticket price. My list wouldn't include Supergirl or Batwoman, but I have a scattering of DC and Marvel mainstream on my monthly pull list as well. There is other better stuff out there that should have been on Eric's list instead of industry standard DC and Marvel, but this is what is consistently wrong with ComicVine and it's approach to comics.Any chance kulukimaki can take this list over,Eric?

Ouch, that hurts. And you could at least get my name right when asking me to step down ;).

But as I've mentioned before, while I write the 10 comics feature weekly, it's ComicVine as a whole that chooses the titles to feature. And we include "industry fed bantha fodder" because we honestly enjoy it and recommend it to our readers. We love the indies too, but we're not going to only include them simply to be alternative or, dare I say it, comic hipsters (*shudders). We love all comics, whether tights and capes or not. So going into creating this list we try to balance it out with a touch of everything on the menu. There is no conspiracy of getting fed dollar bills under the table from marvel and dc to include their titles on this list. And if that were the case, I haven't seen a dime ;).

I still can't believe that Saga and Wonder Woman are only £2.30, when others are hardly worth half that to me! Still debating whether to give Captain Marvel a go, the art doesn't catch my eye at the moment.

I feel that Wonder Woman is one of the best comics I have ever seen DC put out because they let Azzarello and Chiang go nuts. I believe he is back on the art with this one so even more reasons to dance about it. Also, before this reboot I have hated every single Wonder Woman storyline I have ever been exposed to. Getting away from the camp of the lasso & contemporary setting and digging deep into the mythos was such a great call. I even don't mind her lack of pants. :P

In the DC front... Batwoman is this week. The end of the big arc at last! Hooray! JH Williams III needs to start drawing this again ASAP before I lose my love for it. Amy was doing fine but this new guy makes me want to rip my eyes out in comparison to JH or even Amy.

Saga, AvX, Avengers Academy with Emma Frost being what she is best at being, UXM, New Mutants, etc... all instabuys. Half my favorite comics are going the way of the dodo post Marvel Now and I'd like to enjoy them while I can.

@AltyAce: The sad part is DeConnick proved the writing could be good with her quasi preview in Avenging Spiderman but that was drawn by the Dodsons and they made that haircut far less frightening. Actually they pretty much ignored it from most angles and made it look like a normal shorter haired Carol Danvers. But they aren't drawing this book.

Justice League (although I don't know why), Wonder Woman, and Saga for me this week. I am bummed that Green Lantern got pushed back, especially since I am on vacation next week. Also, I think Supergirl should be on this list. It's the best Super book out right now.

@erik_norris: Ah, don't worry. My mother used to tell me: "Die Geschmäcker der Püblikümer sind verschieden!". Which roughly translates to: "Tastes differ." Well with a little more pomp. I would highly suggest giving Rachel Rising and Alabaster: Wolves a chance though (that goes out to everyone reading this), if you haven't. Carbon Grey's art is awesome, but the story is confusing at best. With all the attention Saga is getting, it's hardly indy anymore (well it is, but still), art and story are great + different. Night of a 1000 wolves started of kinda boring but got really good at the end of last issue. While I like capes (The Cape was great, by the way), many are a little disappointing (I did like Owls though). While I'm at it: Before Watchmen is only average and Ozymandias only had good art^^. That said, I didn't really post my list as an alternative to the official one, but more as a kind of expansion, for anyone kind enough to consider my preferences. Anyways: Great week altogether.

From that list I plan on getting Silk Spectre, X-O Manowar, Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, Saga, and Daredevil.

AvX might make it out of curiosity about the Wakanda inclusion, but I haven't really been following the story otherwise. Avengers and X-Men franchises are boring to me, so there hasn't really been any pull factor to bring me into this whole soiree.
