We intend to not only spotlight tights and capes books, but also some indie titles off the beaten path, which, if all goes well, will help broaden your reading horizons in the process.
American Vampire #24
Scott Snyder and Rafael Albuquerque conclude "Death Race" with a sworn enemy's identity revealed and a lot of blood spilled. Thus far, we've been loving this look at 1950s Americana with a vampiric twist through the lens of Snyder and Albuquerque. We can't wait for more. And we get just that this week.
Aquaman #6
For this issue of Aquaman, writer Geoff Johns focuses on Aquaman's main squeeze, Mera, as she investigates the sinking of Atlantis. But going further down the rabbit hole will lead Mera to some intriguing revelations about her own dark past. If you haven't been following Aquaman yet, now's the time to jump on the bandwagon. Seriously, Aquaman is awesome.
Fantastic Four #603
It all comes down to this -- Galactus versus the Celestials, the return of the Future Foundation and the last stand of the Fantastic Four. This latest arc in Fantastic Four, "Forever," has been epic as all get out, and we can wait to see how it all plays out this week.
Flash #6
Following the climatic events of last issue, Barry must come to terms with how his battle with Mob Rule turned out. Meanwhile, there's a murder mystery to solve that dates back 150 years, which will reveal the true origins of Central and Keystone City.
I, Vampire #6
The Queen of Blood has taken over Gotham City with her army of vampires, and it's up to Andrew, with the help of Batman, to stop her. In addition, Mary will lose something/someone dear to her in the process. If you haven't been reading I, Vampire yet, please remedy that mistake by picking up the previous five issues along with this week's issue #6. You won't regret it.
Ray #3
Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti continue their interesting revision of The Ray character. In this issue, Lucien sets out to juggle saving his girl, Chanti, from the clutches of the Isopods while also trying to rescue her parents from the evil Director. This mini-series might not be perfect, but this new take on The Ray has proven itself entertaining, delivering a superhero story where the super heroics come easy when compared to every day life problems.
Secret Avengers #23
Rick Remender and Gabriel Hardman continue their run on Secret Avengers, introducing Venom to the team as they journey into the center of the earth to find the one known as "Father." We're expecting more off-the-walls concepts and hilariously witty characterization from Remender and company with this new issue of Secret Avengers.
Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #7
In this month's installment, Scorpion comes to New York City and Uncle Aaron discovers a secret about his nephew, Miles. While Peter Parker might be missing from the pages of Ultimate Spider-Man, it's still a fantastic read that's both immensely entertaining and surprisingly unpredictable.
Venom #13.3
Writer Jeff Parker and artist Julian Tedesco jump aboard to continue this awesome mini event starring Venom, Red Hulk, X-23 and Ghost Rider. After succumbing to their Antitheses, it looks like our heroes are down and out with Hell quickly spreading across earth. What hope do us mere mortals now have? We're not exactly sure, but we're excited to find out in Venom #13.3.
Wolverine And The X-Men #6
Woo! A new issue of Wolverine and the X-Men so soon after the last one! According to Marvel, this is the issue where things get worse, with Wolverine and Kid Omega traveling to an intergalactic casino to win some cash to keep the Jean Grey School open. Yea, we can't see this going smoothly either.
