is Gambit French?

is it me or isn't his accent awful lol? can't he speak normal english? or is he from france or something? i just really dislike his Cajun accent!

He's from New Orleans which is predominantly French.

New Orleans is not majority Cajun. In fact only a tiny percentage of the New Orleans population is Cajun. Most Cajuns are concentrated in the areas southwest of New Orleans, like Houma and Thibodaux.
