Fantastic Four Reboot is 'Grounded' May Not Have Suits

Hardcore comic book fans already fretting over Fox and director Josh Trank’s more youthful 2015 big-screen reboot of Marvel Comics’ Fantastic Four may have something new to worry over Thursday.

In an interview with IGN in support of the new Johnny Depp science fiction vehicleTranscendence (opening April 17), co-star Kate Mara, who has been cast alongside Miles Teller (Reed Richards), Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm) and Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm) as Susan Storm, says she doesn’t know much yet about the film, though she says filming starts in a few weeks.

"I don’t know very much about it, which is weird but true," Mara replies when asked for info about the film, adding, "All I know is it’s going to be a very different take on the film than what probably people expect. I think we’re making a very grounded version of the superhero film."

"Grounded version" might be the last thing comic book readers who favor literal adaptations and are already concerned over the younger take and rumors about the story that Trank had to publicly refute want to hear. Some fans may regard "grounded" as the exact opposite of what they consider to be the spirit of the FF concept - one that literally has "fantastic" in the name.

The actress, who confesses to not being very familiar with the comic books prior to reading a few recently, is also asked if she’s tried on the suit.

"I don’t know that there’s s a suit … maybe there is," she replies seeming genuinely unsure, in another exchange that while inconclusive, may strike fear in the hearts of fans.

On a more positive note, Mara says she was attracted to the role because he’s trusts Trank's vision, professing to be a fan of Chronicle, and expresses a belief in her fellow cast mates.

Fantastic Four is scheduled for a June 19, 2015 release.

This movie was doomed from the start its obvious this is a piece to stroke Millars ego and that the director wants to make anything but a superhero movie. I expect this to come out bomb be a critical failure and kill an hopes of marvel making the ff a prophitable franchise.

Every time I see Miles Teller I feel like punching him. It's not because he's in this film but in general he just has that face that says please punch me.

sad seeing so many great Marvel properties get ruined... X-men, Fantastic Four, Daredevil, ........ Please give them back to Marvel.

I think Fantastic Four would fit better apart of the MCU. So I'm rooting for this to flop so the rights can (Somehow) get reverted back.

So far this movie is sounding like it's shaping up to be anything but fantastic.

Ah okay. I dunno, I personally really liked the Daredevil movie (Directors Cut version) and the first two FF but now I agree they've fallen off the wagon.

Excited for this and love the cast besides Teller
