Krypton, Council Chambers
Jor-El stood, looking up at the giant hologram that filled most of the Kryptonian ruling council chamber “We have considered your proposal. But in keeping with Krypton’s neutrality, we decline your proposal to join in your empire”
The holographic image of Emperor Palpatine glared down at Jor-El and the other members of the council. The wizened, disfigured face slowly broke into an evil smile “That would be…unwise”
“Save your veiled threats!” snapped General Zod “We know of your rise to power Palp…”
“EMPEROR PALPATINE!” the chamber shook at the power of his voice “Is that clear GENERAL Zod”
Jor-El looked to the commander of Krypton’s armed forces and nodded, Zod reluctantly sat. “Krypton is a peaceful, neutral planet…”
“Is that why you have Generals?” scoffed the Emperor.
“We have the right to defend ourselves” stated Jor-El looking straight into his eyes.
“Very well. What of my other request?”
“Demand” murmured Zod, loud enough for Jor-El to turn and shoot him a stare.
“We will allow you space within Krypton’s sector, to build your satellite station, providing that unless there is a dire emergency, you shall not interact nor interfere with us”
Palpatine weighed Jor-El’s words and his own response carefully “In return, I expect the same courtesy from Krypton, Jor-El”
“Agreed”
“Before I leave you to your introverted, xenophobic ways” Palpatine looked down at Zod, who gripped the desk and bit his tongue. The Emperor turned back to Jor-El “Anakin Skywalker would like to thank the House of El for their…hospitality, during his time on Krypton as my ambassador”
“He is most welcome” said Jor-El as the hologram winked out.
“I can have ships headed to Coruscant within the hour!” yelled Zod “That pompous, self appointed wizard!”
“Calm yourself Zod”
“Don’t tell me what to do Jor-El!” Zod turned and glared at his personal and professional rival “You are a fool to believe that he understands anything but force!”
Coruscant, heart of the Galactic Empire
“They will pay the price for their lack of vision!!” scowled Palpatine turning to his apprentice, Darth Vader, who stood patiently beside the throne.
“Yes, my master” Darth Vader’s hollow breathing echoed through the throne room.
“What did you learn from your time with the Kryptonians?”
“A race of scientists, similar to Alderaan” Vader paused “Weak”
“Good” sneered Palpatine “Soon they will pay the price for offending the Dark Lord of the Sith!”

Krypton, Council Chambers
“It’s a weapon!” stated General Zod “They are building a weapon, the size of a planet!” Zod dramatically threw surveillance discs at Jor-El’s feet “What do you have to say for yourself?”
Jor-El looked at the discs on the floor and sighed. He looked up at the assembled council and then over to General Zod “You have broken the truce Zod”
“I am protecting our planet from that maniac!” roared Zod “Have you not read the reports of what he has done to the Jedi? The massacre of Mustafar?
“We know all this Zod…but it does not change the fact you went against the council’s wishes and have brought the threat of war with the Empire, to an actual reality!”
“I’d prefer a war to this pandering!”
“Your words border on treason and sedition General Zod” warned Jor-El
General Zod stormed out of the chamber “You are all short sighted idiots!”
Coruscant
“What news…apprentice?” the words hissed from the Emperors lips
“The Jedi are all but destroyed” replied Darth Vader “There are still some that evade us, but not for long”
“Obi Wan Kenobi” growled Palpatine
“Yes my master. He is…”
“No longer a concern!” interrupted Palpatine “Ohran Keldor has informed me that the laser upon the Death Star is ready to be tested. I think the Kryptonians shall be the first to feel its power!”
Krypton, The House of El
Jor-El looked at his wife and their newborn son. He paced backwards and forwards, his mind elsewhere other than the joyous arrival of his heir.
“You’ll wear a trench in the floor” whispered Lara as she nursed her son.
“That’s highly unlikely” responded Jor-El “I hate to admit it, but Zod is correct, they’re building a weapon”
Lara looked at her husband “Do you think your son, who is just hours old, wants to hear his father complaining?” Jor-El smiled and headed over to his wife.
“Greeting’s Kal-El” and he placed a kiss on the forehead of the tiny infant
