Character Creation Contest #6: "For Score and..."

I have won contest 5, now straight into contest 6!

The year is 1865. Your story is about this man:

And how he survived an assassin’s bullet on that fateful night he went to the theatre to watch the play ‘Our American Cousin’. In this reality, Honest Abe lives on and dies peacefully in his sleep in 1885.

Now if you’re not a history nerd here’s some people who were there:

Abraham Lincoln: President, hat afficinado, play watcher, lawyer, possible vampire hunter

Mary Todd Lincoln: first lady, headache sufferer, mother of four, holder of hands.

John Parker: presidential bodyguard

Major Henry Rathbone: soldier, action man, guest of the president on the night in question

Clara Harris: fiancée to Rathbone, daughter of a US Senator, also there on the night in question

John Wilkes Booth: actor, (in this reality) would-be assassin, shouter of “Sic semper tyrannis!”

Lewis Powell: co-conspirator with Booth

David Herold: co-conspirator with Booth

Harry Hawk: lead actor in the play that night

Dr. Charles Brainerd Todd: Navy surgeon, eye witness, no relation

Peanuts Burroughs: the guy holding John Wilkes Booth’s getaway horse

(Feel free to use them or ignore them, just in case you wanted some extra information)

Now you can use existing heroes or villains from Marvel/DC/Image/Boom/Dark Horse/IDW/Valiant or make your own; you can use time travel, magic, super powered bodyguards, telepathy, vampires, hell Superman could be sitting in the Presidential Box with Lincoln or Lincoln is actually the Iron Fist of the 1800’s: I DON’T MIND! I just want to see YOUR alternate history on a pivotal moment.

You have a word MAXIMUM of 1865 words, the year Lincoln died in OUR reality. There is no minimum, if you can tell a whole story in 12 words DO IT!

This contest shall run for 15 days and we’re going off Australian time because I am Australian and I won the contest. So today is Australia Day and a public holiday so I'm not doing any work today...hence the 15 days! So it starts today on the 26 TH January 2013 and finished at midnight 9 TH Feb 2013 AUSTRALIAN TIME!!

A. I have no idea what a Handyman's behavior is since the max I've seen is 5 seconds of one being camera shy.

Not sure what I'll do yet but as a homage to the australian user I may or may not use a 10 year old Ned Kelly xD

A ten year old Ned Kelly Vs JWB! That's insane and brilliant and why haven't you written it yet?!? It fits with Ned's timeline (born 1854, died 1880) so the Kelly's go on holiday to the US and BOOM! :) Love it
