@jonny_anonymous: Eurgh. To be honest, the requirements are what is putting me off.

Probably writing a Twilight fic as we speak.

The Seattle-based corporation is starting with Warner Bros. But before you start uploading your Harry Potter fan fiction, note that it is only WB Television Group’s Alloy Entertainment division.
It's an important distinction for a number of reasons -- but especially because this unit owns a number of well-known (and bankable) young adult franchises, including Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, and The Vampire Diaries.
Glad to know I finally have a use for that obscenely misplaced Gossip Girl Christmas gift I got last year.
@joygirl: I knew her way back when...
But so far there's no DC world or Marvel. It's just Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars and Supernatural...the rest will come eventually
@batkevin74: Doubtful. I think they're trying to target a certain crowed of.... well, teenagers.
@awesam: What's the point in that when the largest source of fan fic on the the internet is likely comics
@jonny_anonymous: It isn't. Also, those kinds of programs have fan- fics that have been published. Comic fans spend money on comics.
@deathbymanga: Does your Super Mario cartoon happen to be a teenage drama on Much Music?
@awesam: actually, i haven't even published it anywhere because i haven't gotten the full story written out. The entire plot has been written, but the story itself has a few holes here and there.
But no, this is NOT a teenage drama. this is an action-pact story about Mario defending both the Mushroom Kingdom and the entire universe from those that wish to enslave it
@deathbymanga: Then this thread is not for you.
@awesam: how so? i want to make money off of a tv series built around a pre-existing franchise that i have no ties to? That sounds like fanfiction to me. Am I not allowed just because i'm still in the developmental stages? i'd think WB would WANT a long-lasting series, something they can milk for a lot of years. I mean, look at Smallville?
@jonny_anonymous: exactly. WB wants money, and if a good fanfiction comes along, then i'm positive that they will suck it for every last penny they have
@deathbymanga: They'll take what they have the rights for. Send them the best fan-fic imaginable. If it's not about the shows above, then they'll throw it in the trash.
@awesam: yes, but NO ONE has the tv rights at this time for Mario. so they could easily buy them anyway. and really, you think they are going to stick to those franchises only? they will buy more. WB won't just take what they can, they'll take what they want
@deathbymanga: Sure, but they don't have it and they won't consider your story unless they do. Also, this is for writing fan-fiction, not cartoons. They specifically targetted these exact books/shows because they're a major source of fan-fiction and the audience actually read them. I don't see them ever doing this for a comic or game series. That's just my opinion, though.

Lol, Comics are one of the biggest media outlets, of-course they will, its basic business to target a large audience.
Time to publish DC Civil War
@mercy_: Why?
@jonny_anonymous: This is part of the terms and agreements to Kindle Worlds
When you submit your story in a World, you are granting Amazon Publishing an exclusive license to the story and all the original elements you include in that story. This means that your story and all the new elements must stay within the applicable World. We will allow Kindle Worlds authors to build on each other’s ideas and elements. We will also give the World Licensor a license to use your new elements and incorporate them into other works without further compensation to you.
And it rubs me entirely the wrong way. Publishing on there, you are signing over any and all creative control over your work. And not just the elements that they own (previously established characters), but the concept and any original characters that you bring into it.
It feels like a really cheap way to rip people off to me. As a writer, I would NEVER sign away my work like that.
@mercy_: But isn't that what any comic writers contract is like? If you created an original character while writing for Marvel that character then becomes Marvel property.

This. Most of the fan-fics on this site are darker than your usual comic show.

Only for DC and Marvel. Anyone writing for a creator-owned company, such as Image, keeps all rights to their property. Hence "creator-owned".
