Trying a new experimental writing style, in order to tailor to the story itself. If you don't like it I can change it back in the next part but I think it can work out well in the long run.
P.S I didn't forget about the multiple personalities, they are going to have a large role in the next part ;).
Vortex #2:
Hey bud, it’s time to get up, we’re almost there, hope you had a nice nap. Wow, look at the chocolate bar, it’s huge!
“I believe you mean our testing and housing facility, and yes it is, we pride ourselves on our ability to be domineering.”
“That’s all well and fine general, but you still haven’t told me why I’m here yet, I’m getting curious.”
“Well we’re a PMC that specializes in grouping unique individuals, such as yourself, together and making them effective teams. You’ll be assigned to Project: Looney Bin.”
“Looney Bin, wow very subtle name sarge.”
“We don’t really pride ourselves on creativity….”
Hey...friend, do you want to go around and explore for yourself? I can separate you from my conscience and let you roam free. Here, it’ll give me an opportunity to use my powers. See that giant lobster claw, that’s my actual hand. I’m reaching into this world(or dimension whatever floats your boat) and I’m going to pull you into the real one.
“That’s a neat trick there Vortex, didn’t know you could interact with your “insane world”.”
“That’s just one of the plethora of things I am capable of sarge”
Oh did I mention I’m also going to be your conscience? Yeah I’ll be narrating everything since you can’t talk. Oh don’t look so glum, it’ll be fun, this way I can watch my teammates perform while the real me goes and shows off to the sarge. I wonder what the inside of this building is gonna look like.
“My associate here will escort you to your training facility and will evaluate your skill Vortex.” Sarge explained(Oooh I’m liking this already). Sarge’s associate escorted me into the building and you followed him to go and see who else was assigned to Project: Looney Bin(Still not liking that name, but hey I’m not in charge).
“I’ll introduce you to the team… umm… sorry I didn’t quite catch your name…” Sarge so eloquently mumbled out(Ugg I can’t believe I have to take orders from him). You didn’t say anything and Sarge just shrugged and pretended that never happened. Sarge lead you into a corridor with what appeared to be a bunch of one-way mirrors”
“Well I’ll introduce you to the members of Project: Looney Bin, first off we have Hypera, she can move and think incredibly fast, but has incredible amounts of trouble focusing and recalling her long term memory” Sarge explained to you. She was twitching and fidgeting at incredible speeds and looked incredibly nervous. (ADD Girl would be a better name in my opinion, and slightly more hilarious).
“Next up we have Mr.Controller, he can manipulate the laws of physics and control matter, but suffers from an inferiority complex that prohibits him from doing anything major, like imploding the universe. We believe it is because he suffered a traumatic childhood with abusive parents.” Sarge old you. You look at this sad teenager dressed prim and properly. He sits on a bed and bounces a small, tennis ball seem to be made out of solid dark matter against the wall again and again. (Jeez,for having power like that he couldn’t look more bored).
“Our third member is Mr. Sandman, he can produce concentrated soundwaves that can cause enemies to go comatose if he can tag them long enough. However he suffers from extreme insomnia and can barely stay focused most of the time, the sad part is he cannot use his power on himself.” Sarge explained. You look down at a man in an all brown, who tosses and turns in his bed, struggling to try and fall asleep. (The irony is strong with this one, hopefully he is more of an asset than a liability).
“Our fourth and final member, outside of whom you arrived with, is Miasma, she can produce poison from her mouth and pors, literally she can excrete poison from her entire body, she can also transform into a gaseous form within her poison cloud and move at an incredibly fast rate. She however suffers from Munchausen Syndrome and constantly believes she is sick, making her afraid to use her power for fear of contaminating herself. This however is impossible because she is immune to her toxin” Sarge told you. You look at a pale woman with slight purple smoke emitting from her body sit on her bed and open a case of needles, she injected herself nervously with each one.
“Don’t worry, they’re all placebos, it’s been working on her for the last three months, but we need to find a long term solution to her condition.” He says. (This team should be fun, we all have our quirks and quips, but I am sure we can work it out…probably).
“Now I presume you understand what is going on here, we’re trying to weaponize the crazies who got the bad rap of the universe. If we can fix them, they may become our best team, and we are confident Vortex will make a fine addition, speaking of him, I believe he is entering The Cage right now.” He told you, sarge then lead you to a room in the center of the hallway. Through the glass on the far side of the wall you could see an all white room with me sitting in the center. Drones dressed like black ops soldiers begin to enter the room with weapons of various kinds.
“Let’s see how he deals with our best combat bots.” Sarge chuckled, clearly not believing in me.
I proceeded to create two twisters that go as high as the ceiling, immediately(and skillfully) disarming the combat bots. I created a portal into the “Fake World” and pulled out what appeared to be a chromatophoric hammer that I smashed some of the bots with. Seeing more bots enter from the rear I created a wormhole vortex with my left hand, sucking them into the void. With the other hand I spit the bots back out as a cube of junk(I don’t even know where they went). This training session continued for a few hours with me taking some blows, but I manage to dispose of over seventy-five bots.
“I think he’s going to be a fine addition to the team Dr.Zarabiac” Sarge whispered to the doctor to his left. The doctor nodded and proceeded to enter the adjacent lab, with a brief glimpse through the doorway you seem to spot lab equipment and more scientists.
“I think that’s enough for the day, my assistant will lead you to your housing quarters and we’ll properly introduce you to the team tomorrow.” Sarge said.
You follow the kind assistant into my room.
“Hey, how was your day, my voice in your head should have kept you enough company, well anyway, we better get some rest. Sarge wants us to do a ‘team exercise’ tomorrow and that’s going to take a lot of effort.” I said.
He’s right, we’re going to need our strength in the morning, get some rest, I’ll be sure to wake you when the ball starts rolling.
