The Writers Guild- A Fan Fic Community

Hello and welcome to the official Writers Guild page. Our goal is to boost readership on the vine, particularly within the Fan-Fic board. Along with myself, a bunch of talented authors have agreed to help grow our community and strengthen our writing skills. Here are the answers to some questions you might be asking

How does it work?

Each week two or more of the guild's writers volunteer to contribute stories. These stories can involve any genre or subject so long as it is a brand new entry. These stories are sent to the editing staff to be refined and or improved into a final draft. They are then sent out in a weekly showcase to you, the audience. Our supporters comment on the stories, then the cycle is repeated again.

How Do I Join?

To join all you have to do is comment on this post and make sure you tag me in your comment. Once you join you will be added to a PM where you can discuss your stories with other writers.

How can I help support the guild?

Simply commenting on our stories would be tremendously helpful to the guild, but if you wish to do more, we offer several roles to our guild members. Each role comes with a small set of responsibilities that are equally important to preserving the guild.

Contributors

Obviously the main component of the guild. Different contributors are selected each week to write in an entry for the publication. Without them the guild would die.

Fill-ins

It's sort of like having a second string player when the starter gets injured. We all have responsibilities outside of the guild so if a contributor has to cancel this week the fill-in replaces. Fill-ins are generally the people who would have contributed next week.

Support

Simple job just support this week's and last week's writers as best you can. This includes commenting on thing the things you liked, providing honest criticisms, including ideas you think could help improve the story and the occasional bump (if necessary).

Editors

Not your traditional form of support. These users aren't going to proofread all the entries or babysit your spelling, they're just good people who know how to write and will help you out if you have questions regarding formatting or grammar.

Artists (New)

Think you can make the Vine a more beautiful place? Come dazzle us with your artwork and I'll let you do a few covers for our stories.

Well you've been absent for a while since FF2.3 collapsed. Regardless welcome back, I have not seen you around for a while :)

Do we pick any of our recent stories for the showcase if you're a member?

No, the way it works is when you volunteer to do a week you send the story to me then I have the editors look it over before it gets published on Friday.

@dngn4774: It has to be a totally new story for it to be published? No connections to any other group/continuity?

Not necessarily. You can continue a story from a previous continuity but it has to be new. For example, one of our members submitted Marvel Mayhem's The Frog Man #5 and I didn't mind because it was a brand new issue. In those scenarios just make sure that you insert links to the earlier issues so the audience understands that it comes from previous continuity.

i would love to join in. i have a few originals and am working on a large batman fan fiction. i've been writing everyday for the past year and a half, but have been doing it on and off my entire life. My strengths are horror, sci-fi and super heroics (mainly DC).

I've got a pretty unstable schedule, but I could try to get something up weekly.
