How dare ye, question my derailing superiority.
I with but a lone comment, triggered this thread's inevitable descent...

@Project_Worm: I have a terrible idea: we should do like 2.1 of this thread and then everytime it goes off topic we should create a new thread :P
We could get this up to 10.0 in no time :P
HAHAH then I could finally get something pinned!! My life would be complete... Heh...
@CapFanboy said:
@Project_Worm: No. No it would not.
Fair enough..

And then I'll derail that one, because I'M... THE SUPREME COMMANDER DERAILER.

I'm new to comicvine and i think fan-fic is pretty cool, but I'm confused. Do i have to write stories under titles like dc mayhem, marvel's iron age, dc legacy or can I just start fresh and my make my own titles?

The titles are groups you can join. They have shared continuity (like all your favourite comic books) and are really a way to just get to know each other under one theme (like the future or the animated universe). However, you don't have to join these groups (in some cases it's better not to) and can just write your own thing :)
Are you allowed post stories about new characters not linked to the DC or Marvel Universe. And if it is allowed, is it unusual because in the forums I only see stories on existing charatcers?
@Mediumflyer7: Hi Mediumflyer7! You can indeed post stories involving completely original characters and universes, though you don't see it that often because fan fic is traditionally involved with your own version of established characters and a lot of people are reluctant to put up their original creations, probably due to wanting to protect their creations from possibly being stolen or ripped off by other writers. But there are no rules that say you can't do it. Fan fic really means "not getting paid to do write this stuff but i do anyway because i love it." So there aren't really any hard and fast rules involved :)

Um, so, hi, i'm a new writer here at Comicvine and I'm linking you a story that I put quite a bit of work into. so I hope you like it.
@xxxddd: I have always favored stories in novel form (I've written both. not here mind you, but I've written both stories and written a play once). It really depends on what you are more comfortable in writing.
I'd definitely pick stories in novel format if I was the one writing. When you write in novel format you have dialogue and description to your reader in picturing the scene. However, if I maybe honest I think when you -- and I using a general use of the word "you" rather than you personally -- write a script, some of that insight into the scene and the characters is slightly lost because a script is only part of a final product. It's not complete. It needs something more than just dialogue and, if we're lucky, some action details. I don't mean for it to sound like I believe all scripts are incomplete (There are some wonderful scripts out there I'm sure), but most I think need to be taken a step further than just dialogue: maybe acting or, equally good, illustration like for comics.
Of course, that is my interpretation of the question "Do you prefer to write scripts or novels?" Which is better to write? Well, that depends on the writer. It might be easier for you write scripts and you might add details and more actions so the reader can actually picture what's happening...but again, that is my take on this...
Hey guys! I just recently put up my first fan fic and was wanting some feedback:

Hi there. I've been browsing here for a bit and have a question.
I've always had an idea for a Spiderman story. My idea -- what if J. Jonah Jameson finally go what he wanted and unmasked Spiderman?
I've never written fan-fiction before. I was wondering if someone could help me outline the plot as to what would happen after his victory? It's been a while since I read any comic books besides Eightball, and even that's been a few years.
Thanks so much!
Hey guys, I've actually written a few fanfics, but not for marvel/DC, and I was wondering if they would be received well here?

I would definitely say they would be recieved well here. but really any genre/company would be accepted here (long as it is appropriate of course).
Hope to read your fan fics in the future...

applogies for the late response...
I could ask you questions via pm that could help you map out what's going to happen and when if that's what you need help with...
I just wrote my first story and was looking for some feedback/ideas what comes next!
Link would be nice!
Hello all, new to this! And the site I suppose, looking forward to writing for you guys.
I will say that while I have a general idea of what I want to write, I know what point A,B and C are but connecting the dots is a challenge for me. Wanting something of quality, so it doesn't come off as "filler" any tips?
