Adam Stetson was a United States Air Force sergeant, yet many credit his success to his father being an admiral. A hazing incident gone too far would lead to the death of an airman. It also gave birth to a brand new super villain
Raising Adam, Rear Admiral Jacob Stetson never let his son grow long hair, sleep past 0 six hundred hours (6am) or play rock music. As well as date girls Adam was not allowed to associate with particular non-whites specifically African Americans. Jacob once even warned his son that if was to play with n-words than he would be worked like an n-word. Regardless he dished out enough household chores to match a slave’s workload. Stetson was also a bit of a homophobe so on top of chores for Adam he kept him on a vigorous exercise regimen. In which Jacob questioned Adam’s manhood at any time he perceived slacking with remarks such as sissy queer or shiftless ni**er. From the capital city of Omaha, Nebraska Jacob strived to present the all American family, although he hid a secret and tended to overcompensate for his own perceived frailties.
This trait was a factor in young Adam’s life as well. For he progressed in the armed services but having his childhood marginalized to satisfy his selfish father caused Adam to act at times totally immature. And in all places the Air Force his actions became legend in their own right. Through the influence of his father he excelled to level of sergeant, where his childish attitude and sheer resentment for the army life would meet with a timeless military practice: Hazing. Taking a violent, cruel turn that itself would devolve into premeditated murder.
It was another average night for Staff Sergeant Adam Stetson. He had new cadets put their faces in buckets of urine while he casually electrocuted them with a stun gun. Adam never really advanced any further than his rank in fact took his father’s pull to achieve even that. Unfortunately that pull would help no longer once he reached that level. At first his juvenile behavior would at first be an embarrassment to him and his father. Ironically Adam established himself as the most brutal hazer in all armed services. Soldiers who could survive his unholy treatment were a valued commodity. Stetson became the ultimate measuring stick for potential new badasses and his relative low rank became justified. That was until this night when one of the airmen raised his head out the bucket and spat urine on the Sarge.
Setting in motion a whirlwind of events starting with the hot headed, egotistical Stetson becoming so enraged he produced a mop from the closet. Airman Wilson Hawkins only spat out of gag reflex, not intended with any ill will. All the same he was ordered to drop trough, kneel down cheek to floor, presenting his body cavity to the superior officers. Sergeant Stetson at this moment rolled a condom down the tip of the mop handle. The raw immanence of doom alone fell hard on the room, even to the other superiors. Sadly the graphic outcome would justify the six sense. It was the hideous wail Hawkins shrieked like a dog on fire. Hopeless, high pitched without missing a breath he wept face down trying to muffle the sounds. Anyhow it was the actual blood which spilled from Hawkins that finally allowed the other victims to vomit out of fright and repulsion.
The immediate fallout from the incident would be the labeling of Sergeant Stetson as the “Blood Boarder”. Implying the notion his hazing had progressed to the level of torture. Once Airmen Hawkins was observed by a higher up ”soldiering through” a pathetic limp a medical examination was ordered. Discovering internal bleeding from extreme rectal trauma and a quiet investigation commenced. Stationed at an aircraft carrier along the eastern seaboard right before a deployment, the horrific details of Hawkins injury were eventually ascertained.
Stetson was academically relieved of duty and ordered to remain on the aircraft carrier until being returned to base. Not before he was thoroughly reamed out by superiors for letting his temper take his already questionable behavior to a level that endangered lives. Also for taking his father’s legacy down with it, which was the only reason he was addressed so vigorously in private. His immediate punishment would include the embarrassment of having to inform Admiral Stetson himself.
Jacob, assuming his son had been deployed decided to have some personal time in his office. An office that Adam had his own set of keys to. As he reached the door he saw the light was out and assumed the office was empty. Adam planned to wait for his father to return so he could get it over with. Yet while inside before Adam turned on the light he heard some odd noises coming from the office’s back room. Humored Adam initially thought his dad left on a x-rated movie playing. That it was only a hot blonde making those sounds. Peeking through the door into the back to Adam’s astonishment he realized it was his father on all fours calling another military officer “daddy”.
In regards to the example of a father Jacob provided Adam, this revelation flew in the face of what he was raised to believe. Especially considering the other officer was a certain African American Jacob often referred to as “that ugly ass nigger”. The two were so fully engaged in their act they didn’t even hear Adam gasp and head back to the door over the sounds. So hastily, in his knee trembling disbelief Adam left the office door unlocked.
Airman Hawkins limped out of the infirmary with a stride more manageable all the same against doctor’s orders. He knew Adam would get off easy because of his father, still felt obligated to speak with Admiral Stetson himself. To personally state his opinion that the Sergeant went too damn far. That with his temper and ego next time around he was quite capable of doing worse than only injuring someone. Not twenty minutes after Adam left his dad’s office unlocked Hawkins rehearsed in his head one last time before reaching for the knob. In his daze, Adam hadn't even closed the door all the way. As soon as the airman entered he heard a bit of an uproar coming from the room in the back. He then walked in on Admiral Stetson receiving the climax of the African American officer. The uproar was the officer informing Stetson it was time to get on his knees. The two men turned towards Hawkins in horror and shame. In shock Hawkins stood mouth gaped open until his brain could send the signal to his legs to awkwardly walk out the office. Admiral Stetson was just able to utter the command to lock the door on the way out. Then he began to wipe his face.
When Adam’s head stopped spinning he remembered leaving the door open and deeply feared exposing his father to anybody who came past the office. Also what that would do to their family especially with the nature of his recent disciplinary infraction. As he eventually gathered himself to walk back to lock up he thought back to how Jacob instilled in him that joining the Air Force made him a man. Then about what he saw in that room, what he smelled. Then about the outcome if the wrong person had been there. And just as Adam felt like going AWOL along come a limping Airman Hawkins. Apprehension shook with every step the Airman determinedly hobbled towards Adam. At first the conjecture was if Hawkins was angry from the incident or had seen the open office door. Though the second Hawkins became within arm’s length and gave Adam a devious grin his stomach fell down the steps. Alone and in close quarters the Airman informed Sergeant that he not only had knowledge of his father’s sexual activities in graphic detail but also the terms of his silence.
Airman Hawkins demanded Stetson confess fully to the JAG bureau then beg for an immediate discharge from the United States Air Force. Telling him that he’s a just a damn boy in a man’s world. Such a damn disgrace to his father that he even saw him leave the door open. Mocking the expression he had on his face. At this point Adam’s stomach fell down into the basement. Moreover he determined Adam’s behavior stemming from what his father was in the most colorfully offensive manner. Airman Hawkins then even conceded to having the utmost respect for the Admiral regardless of his preference. All the same he would expose Stetson’s hypocrisy if Adam wasn't to do as told. The Sergeant quickly and shamefully agreed, only as a method to buy enough time to kill Hawkins.
With what rank he had left to pull Sergeant Stetson devised a plan involving two other subordinate officers he could order and manipulate. He would have them help him abduct Airman Hawkins under the pretense of frightening him out of providing information. To corroborate with evidence that would in effect implicate the two in separate alleged incidents that were still under investigation. Lance Corporals Jeremy Perlman and Chad Roebling somewhat idolized Stetson. Perlman particularly after he bailed him out of an incident involving his temper and female cadets. Since then he showed eager loyalty returning favors.
Sergeant Stetson fabricated the threat of Airman Hawkins providing testimony in an open case of Perlman assaulting yet another female office. Evidence of Corporal Roebling’s alleged engagement in sexual conduct violating the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” policy being substantiated along with Stetson’s hazing. Adam laid a plan out to initially subdue him without too many bumps and bruises after lights out. Due to Perlman’s enthusiasm Hawkins was fully unconscious and missing a front tooth while being carried to the air craft carrier deck.
Hawkins came around by the time he was getting duct to the nuclear missile of a fighter jet. Through the blur he awoke to Roebling and Perlman slapping him and threatening him not to cooperate with any army officials. Meanwhile Adam was climbing into the cockpit supposedly only to threaten the airman by starting the plane. Of course he was going to sink it, swim to land and claim “hazing gone wrong”.
Perlman was letting his temper get away from him and the physical intimidation only escalated. Yet once he tried to explain that he didn't have a clue what they were talking about, had no intentions of even reporting the hazing. That they were being used by Stetson because of what he saw in the office. Roebling joined in on the brutality. He and the Admiral had been in that office a few times and was angered that despite all the talk, Jacob was with that nigger. So far Adam’s plot was working better that expected right up until Hawkins, prepared for Stetson managed to draw a .22 from his underwear. Hawkins was only taped from shoulder to bicep. If Stetson hadn't closed the cockpit that first easy headshot wouldn't have deflected off the bulletproof window. In one erratic motion the Corporals hit the deck, the fighter jet backed on to the runway and another shot let off. Forced to deviate from the plan Stetson launched the plane off the air craft carrier at full speed fearfully hoping to disrupt the airman’s handle of the weapon.
Once again Stetson would succeed so well he’d fail. The duct tape held Hawkins arms so securely they pointed the gun straight towards Adam. In fact what brings this entire situation to a head starts with Hawkins attempting to empty the clip in what he assumed his final act. Only to strike the nuke, in addition to his own legs numerously. Chilling the Sergeant to his bone as he realized he would be forced to fire the missile to save his own life. Yet just a he frantically found the deploy button he was startled even more by the rumblings of the sound barrier being broken. Though due to punctures in the missile and shock waves surrounding the wings, the second Adam fired the nuke it exploded. Despite Airman Hawkins body taking the brunt of the blast, the jet was still cleft in twain (two pieces). Adam hit the ejector though front half of the jet was turned perpendicular as he was released. Like a javelin his body maintained the same trajectory absorbing the sonic waves while still within the outer nuclear blast radius. Stetson body was surrounded in the waves before blacking out in midair………
Washed up on shore, Adam awoke virtually unharmed. He’d even been in the water long enough for his uniform to rinse out, seeing that he had an accident during the tragedy. Once he stole more civilian attire out of a good will dumpster he faced the reality of never wearing his uniform again. In a Delaware town wandering aimlessly Adam began to recall the events regarding the late Wilson Hawkins and the explosion.
He then came upon a park holding an outdoor rock festival. Adam always had to sneak just to enjoy rock the same way his dad had to sneak around to enjoy black men. Shaming his family, learning about his father and murdering a fellow airmen Stetson finally could lose himself in music. Well that was until the ultimate result of sonic speed blast would become clear. Adam’s dad never let him have a guitar so during a particularly riveting solo his body began to harness the huge amount of sound waves. It started to interfere with the speaker system until Adam expelled the sonic energy by air guitaring the solo.
Barely grasping the full extent of his new abilities he, for starters joined the band and managed a few cover songs. Despite that it was his shredding at will that got him snatched in a limo by major music exec. Explaining his unique situation, the label was more than willing to provide him seclusion to evade the military police and perfect his new abilities.
After a year Adam resurfaced sporting a new look complete with a wig and new identity. Not a singer, even using his manipulation of sound waves he played “lead guitar” as a member of a band formed by the label named:
With Adam’s freak accident exploited as the gimmick. Although due to the uncanny nature of his gift he was more than often mistakenly referred to as the band’s name. To a point the label considered doing the so also. That was until Sonic Boom flew for the first time on tour, Adam for the first time since killing Hawkins. Sadly for the 27 souls aboard it would be their last.
Free to live the rock and roll lifestyle Adam, with his typically immature ass fell into the grip of alcoholism. On the flight he was moderately plastered which meant drunk enough to eventually vomit but not too drunk to make it to the toilet. When that moment arrived Adam caused the plane to explode, killing his band mates their manager, entourage along with the crew. Assuming he could merely project sonic waves Adam in his drunken carelessness was only trying to run as fast as possible. At that altitude in doing so instead of getting closer to the bathroom he caused the large private jet to accelerate until it broke the sound barrier.
Actually Adam broke the sound barrier as the explosion came from inside the jet. He also discovered how to maintain flight by harnessing sonic waves. Starting with the ones that came from that loud blast of death. Not to mention his own initial screams. Even his mp3 player fed his supersonic speed. The combination of him air guitaring real music and being in the Air Force established Adam Stetson as who he would be from then on. The former airman had the ability to sense audio waves like a bat and either harness and project sonic energy or convert it to sonic speed. And with over 184 flight hours before he murdered Wilson Hawkins he was capable of handling that plus more. Ironic how Adam’s band took the name of what he used to kill them, even more ironic was the label still giving him the name and Sonic Boom going on as a solo act.
The label worked out his travel arrangements.
