So Scary- The Ward

Ken was a mental patient for quite a while now. He saw things that weren’t really there. His wife, Cecilia was worried about him. She wished he could come back to normal and continue on with their lives. But the fact that Ken had been seeing these horrible things, the things he calls them, demons or monsters. For that reason only, he had to stay in the psychiatric ward. Sometimes, he had to jump back a little whenever the doctors tried to help him.

A famous doctor, who goes by the name of Dr. Henry Carlson, examined Ken for the past month. He was good at his work, curing patients from their mental disease. Cecilia heard the news about him, willing to call him out and help her to deal with Ken’s mental crisis. But she wondered how long it would take to cure Ken this time.

Ken was seen in his room, cursing and shouting at the monsters he claimed to see. He also warned his wife to stay away from them. The sight of his madness made Cecilia feel sad. She felt helpless. At times, she felt like giving up, but not when Henry was around.

Henry went inside the room to examine Ken. He had two guards on his back, because the last time he came here, Ken punched him on the jaw.

Ken saw the monsters. There were around him, three of them. He couldn’t describe clearly what they look like. Some of them had one eye, the others had two heads. They look horrifying to the point that Ken wanted to kill them. If he were to do that, it would be murder. For Ken, it wasn’t murder. These people weren’t normal for that matter. He heard stories about this particular ward, where most, mental patients were gone missing. Some of them claimed to have committed suicide. Most of his friends thought Ken was insane after he told them the news. But Ken knew damn sure that he wasn’t insane.

The first time he got here, he recalled when coming from work, he had a beer in a bar. One man came up to him, offering another drink. At first, Ken hadn’t recognized him, only until he introduced himself as the famous doctor.

Ken now knew what had happened. He became so drunk that he saw the doctor what he truly was. He shouted at him, and then tried to run away. But the doctor had some help from some worried visitors. They had pinned Ken down, so that the doctor could get him to the ward.

Was Ken dreaming? He was sure that he had just one beer until the doctor came to visit him. The doctor must have put some pill inside the drink without anyone noticing. Or it could be that his stressful job caused him to drink more and more beer.

While recalling the past, he was pinned down again by the guards. Heavy grip caught his nerves. He tried fighting back, still shouting at them and calling out his wife.

“Cecilia! Get away! GET AWAY FROM THEM!”

His wife turned away from him, still feeling sad. She cried. Sometimes, she wonders how long she could bear his husband’s madness.

Henry took out a syringe, injecting the drug into Ken’s bloodstream. The drug calmed him down. He tried to warn everyone, his friends, his wife, and his co-workers that there were actually monsters living among humans.

The handsome doctor came out of the room. He told Cecilia that Ken will be alright.

“It will take time,” the doctor said. “Don’t worry.”

She didn’t say a word. Yet, she wanted to. She only wanted her life back as soon as possible. It had been a month that Ken went crazy.

“Alright,” Cecilia said. “Thank you, doctor.” She left the ward without looking back.

Henry smiled and called the nurse. The nurse arrived.

“Yes, doctor?” The nurse said.

“It’s time for lunch,” the doctor said, staring at his watch.

Next Story- Death Cycle.
