hello all!

so @capfanboy's (New!) Comic Vine Fan-Fic group collection thread! is no longer new and has been needed to be updated.

I messaged a few of you about a complete list a while back and we compiled something, but I didn't star the message so I decided to make a thread about this.

What I need out of this thread (or at least what I want) is any FF group which is active (publishing stories and or has the possibility of publishing stories). I need links to their main threads, who is in charge/who to contact and (if they have one) a link to their library/collection thread.

@joshmightbe @batkevin74 is this information for iron age still current? (also do one of you want to rewrite cap's description?)

MARVEL: THE IRON AGE 2.0

A dystopian future fan fic group, where Iron Soldiers rule the world with a (no pun intended) iron grip. Led by Stryfe, the clone of Cable. But heroes fight back! This version, you can make your own character future based on the characters alive (or dead) in today's Marvel Comics. Now 2.0 version

@the_poet I suck at writing descriptions, hopefully @impurestcheese will write a better one :P but here's my attempt...

Marvel Mayhem is responsible for some of the most kick-ass stories on Comic Vine. From Asgard to New York we take from any continuity and piece it together into a new universe that is suspiciously similar to the old one, but with whatever changes we've decided we want. It's Mayhem. The main difference, however, is our habit of stressing that stories stay interconnected -- this makes it seem more like a continuity, rather than a pile of stories. Oh and whether you're just beginning Fan-Fic or a seasoned veteran the Group PM filled with talent and collaboration helps too.

@irishlad: Iron Age is a full interconnected world as well and we have a few really great stories tho we also share a couple writers with Mayhem which could have something to do with it.

@the_poet: That description still works for me, until I can think of something better which this morning I can't :) But when I do..

@impurestcheese: @irishlad: @joshmightbe: @batkevin74: @bumpyboo:

ok so I have:

Fan Fic Groups

Horror Inc

Modern day versions of the classic tales designed to make you scream.

Marvel: The Iron Age

A dystopian future fan fic group, where Iron Soldiers rule the world with a (no pun intended) iron grip. Led by Stryfe, the clone of Cable. But heroes fight back! This version, you can make your own character future based on the characters alive (or dead) in today's Marvel Comics. Now 2.0 version

Marvel Mayhem

Surely there must be more than just 3...

@joshmightbe @batkevin74 is there a library or collection thread for Iron Age? I just realized I didn't have one

@irishlad I tweaked your description a little bit. It was a little long so I cut a bit (the colaberation bit I will note in my general introduction). @impurestcheese does that disciption look alright? I'll gladly tweak it however you like

@the_poet: Yes @cbishop has collected them up for us. Also I should tell you that 2.0 was actually a failed attempt at a reboot, we're back to the original continuity. Iron Age Library

#19 Posted by joshmightbe (24622 posts) - - Show Bio

@irishlad: Splicers has been on hiatus for a while but I want it to stick around. Just been on a roll with Iron Age lately. If I could get more people to actually read Splicers it'd be cool but it kind of sucks when you put a lot of time and effort into something and you check o it a month later and there are like 2 page views. And I really like doing Splicers too.

#20 Posted by Irishlad (572 posts) - - Show Bio

@joshmightbe I was mostly doing that so people were aware of the thread and I'm going a bit off topic but that sucks to hear I really enjoyed what I read but you guys put out so much content that I fell behind xD

Not that I'm a traitor or anything but have you guys tried posting to other Fan-Fic sites to get a bigger reaction/ make your own site?

Comic Vine's Fan-Fic readers understandably seems to be mostly interested in Marvel and DC.

If not whatever you're kicking ass on Iron Age :P

#21 Posted by joshmightbe (24622 posts) - - Show Bio

@irishlad: I don't really know anything about making or maintaining my own site so that's probably not an option and not to sound snobby or anything but most other fan fic sites I've been to are just flooded with Mary Sues and weird porn so I have trouble getting into them.

@irishlad: New Multiverse is currently on hiatus right now. If someone wants to take over they're more than welcome to. My universe (EARTH 4774) is nowhere near ready for any crossovers yet.

Innovation Inc. probably isn't coming back soon either.

#23 Posted by Irishlad (572 posts) - - Show Bio

@joshmightbe I've an idea on how to set up one if you want to PM me to find out if not again no harm done.

And yup I agree to be honest that's one thing that makes Comic Vine great :P

@joshmightbe: would you rather the group be just Marvel: Iron age in the thread?

Also, if it is no longer 2.0, is Marvel Iron Age 2.0 sign up thread the current sign up thread? and if it the most current thread but no longer 2.0, would you want the actual title of the thread changed (because I could do that)?

Just curious

@dngn4774: @joshmightbe: @joygirl: You guys all said your groups were hiatus (that's DC Mayhem, Spicers and new Multiverse). would you still want me to list those groups on the thread?

in the pm where a few users and myself discussed the updating of this thread, something I mentioned having an "active" section and a "hiatus" section. Would you guys want to do that? or would you rather keep them in a general list of possible FF groups?

#29 Posted by dngn4774 (2733 posts) - - Show Bio

@the_poet: the active/hiatus split up is more helpful to new users so I'd probably just go with that.

#30 Posted by joshmightbe (24622 posts) - - Show Bio

@the_poet: Well there seemed to be about zero interest in the 2.0 thing, if people want to run with cool but its pretty much dead for all intents and purposes so it'd probably work better if we just directed people to the original sign up thread.

#31 Posted by joshmightbe (24622 posts) - - Show Bio

@the_poet: Also I'd like to keep splicers up here, its not an official hiatus, I'm just waiting for inspiration on the Splicers front. I'm more than happy to let other writers play around in that world as long as they maintain continuity.

#32 Posted by The Poet (8291 posts) - - Show Bio

@dngn4774: so would you want New Multiverse in the haitus section?

And I should say that if we create a hiatus section, we should be aware that those in that section are more than likely to return. The reason I mention this is there have been some older FF groups which are really close to some newer ones (I'd have to look at the thread but I think there was a set of DC fan fics one older and one new both of which had the same basic theme). So with all respect to the FF creators, I don't want to list more than one group on this collection thread if those groups have the same theme (and I wouldn't see the point of two similar groups being active). My memory is hazy on what groups I'm thinking of so this could be a thearetical sort of thing, but I thought I should mention this in case.

@joshmightbe: ok. cool.

can you get me a link to the regular sign-in thread? I don't think cap understood the whole 2.0 alternate universe thing so he just replaced the regular main thread with the 2.0

also need a library for splicers

Just to show what I have:

Active Fan Fic Groups

From Asgard to New York, this fan fic group takes from any continuity and pieces it together into a new universe that is suspiciously similar to the old one, but with some changes. It's Mayhem!

Splicers

Future geneticists engineer children (called splicers), who later develop extraordinary abilities leading to fear and prejudice. Make up your own characters!

Fan Fic Groups in Hiatus

[place those inactive but not dead here]

Marvel Iron Age sign up. <--- That's for the regular MIA, not the 2.0. There's a "Where To Start" section at the top of the MIA Library that has anything else you might need. (And just in case you need it, the MIA 2.0 stuff is archived in the "Also Visit" section of the MIA Library.)

@the_poet: Also have a look at my FF Long Box. The first section says "Fan-Fics Are Filed Alphabetically By Author/Group Name." Look in that spoiler box, and I've Bold/Underlined about 12 groups I have in the Box, a few of which have already been mentioned here. I didn't highlight Iron Age, because we've covered that.

Also look in the first comment box after the OP of the Long Box- I have some links there for stuff I haven't looked at thoroughly yet- I think there's a few groups in there too.
